Story
As cute as they come, Knox at 8 weeks old is leaving his neglected beginning in the dust and is ready for the good life. With his “that’s all in the past” attitude, he’s now living it up in his loving foster home. We believe Knox is a Shih Tzu mix, with a splash of Yorkshire Terrier or another similar breed. Wherever the mix came from, one thing’s for sure—he’s a heart-stealer! Knox is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and officially ready to find his forever family. While our adoption fees may seem higher, this is intentional to discourage the resale of puppies and ensure they’re placed in committed homes. We follow a conversation-based adoption process as recommended by National No Kill Advocacy guidelines to make sure it’s a perfect match. Knox is being fostered through Blackberry Point Haven, a licensed rescue based in Wisconsin (License Number: DS-537371) with foster homes in Illinois. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping pups like Knox start their next chapter. If you think Knox might be your perfect companion, reach out and let’s chat! This Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 10-2, we’re hosting an adoption event at N1320 S. Lakeshore Drive, Genoa City, Wisconsin 53128. Come meet this pup and so many more ready for their forever homes!

Story
Meet Kenai! Hey friends! My name is Kenai, and I'm am as handsome as they come! I'm a pretty special adult dog who needs someone in my life who will show me guidance and all the good things to do. I'm housetrained, but I'm not a fan of crates, but I'm not destructive if I need to be left alone. I'd really rather not be home by myself very often. I really attach myself to my person and love going everywhere with them, riding shotgun, of course! I'm good with other dogs, but since I love food so much, it's best that I'm fed by myself, but I've been working at being a good boy, and practicing not having to be in a different part of the house to eat. My style of play might be a little rough for smaller dogs, or since I think cats are really fun to chase, and shouldn't live with them, it might just be a small animal thing that I'm not a fan of. I love humans, but I don't think I should live with the little ones, as I'm a pretty strong, large 65 pound dog, and I would never want to knock them over or hurt them. I enjoy going on walks, but if I see a squirrel, walking is out of the question. Then we run! I'm normally pretty good with having slack in my leash, but sometimes I pull, and that's where a strong handler comes in. Actually, it's probably best if I have someone with husky experience. I can't be on a tie out, so I'll need to go for walks for potty breaks or have a very secured fenced-in yard. If you know huskies, you know that I'm everything great all rolled into one! I'm a talker, and needy (that classifies as great, right?), and obedient and active! I could stand to lose a few, or more, pounds to get myself to a healthy weight and make my joints happier in the long run, so I need someone who is active. We could go on hikes together, and I could help you train for that 5k you've been wanting to do! I'd love it if my new person works from home or I could go to work with them. Remember, I love humans and not fond of being left alone! I'm a really good boy, and trying to find my forever people at this point in life seems very daunting! Do you think you have what it takes to make me a happy guy for all the rest of my days? *Kenai is being fostered in the Janesville area. Meet Maizy! Maizy had anonymous donor sponsor $100 and Bogie and Beanie sponsored $200. Her adoption fee has been fully covered! Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Meet sweet Maizy with Alberts Dog Lounge rescue. Maizy is a cute golden oldie who came to ADL almost a year ago as shy, timid girl after her family came upon hard times and had to surrender her. Maizy has now blossomed into a little social butterfly. She is both dog & and cat friendly and currently being fostered in Columbus, WI. Maizy prefers to be close to her humans, and can be vocal when you leave, so someone who is retired or works from home could be the ideal match for Maizy. A single family home would be a great set up for her. Maizy is not a big snuggle bug (yet), but she is very happy to curl up in a blanket next to you on the couch or in your bed. Do you have a place in your heart and home for dear Maizy? MORE ABOUT ME: - UTD on vaccines - Spayed - Microchipped - Housebroken - Loves to be close to her humans Good general & dental health - Non shedding - Walks great on a leash - Great with respectful dogs & cats Loves to snuggle in warm blankets **Maizy is being fostered in the Columbus, WI area Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Story
Meet Mazzy! Age: Adult Breed: Labrador Good with: kids and dogs Housebroken: Yes Special needs: Calmer home/dogs due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Hey everybody, my name is Mazzy, and I'm the most special gal! I'm a young adult now, and I've found myself looking for my forever home. You might notice that I have a lot of extra skin, and that makes me extra beautiful! It also might add a pound or two to my 42-pound frame because pictures make me look a little lighter than I actually am. Let me tell you, that extra skin is a bit more susceptible to scratches compared to a normal dog's skin because I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Luckily, it doesn’t affect my joints, and I have no need for special medicines – or special food either. I just need to make sure I don't play too rough with my fur friends, that's all! I get along well with other dogs of all sizes, but the calmer, the better, so they don't jump on me or scratch me. I do fabulously with children of all ages, and really enjoy being around them! I learned to trust and love most all humans really, but big crowds and busy new places can be overstimulating for me. I like to alert you to any strange noises I hear or of new people coming into the home, so I might not do super great with living in an apartment building where there might be a lot of extra noise. I’m really good at going potty outside – and have learned to let you know I need to go by standing near the door and giving a little whine. I love going on walks, and I do quite well, though why do some of those trucks need to be so big and loud? I'm not sure how well I would do with kitties. Foster mom says I'm so, so smart and love to learn. I also love car rides and my toys - I can keep myself entertained! I promise to make you laugh with my silly antics and zoomies I get. Now I'm ready for my ride-or-die bestie to play by day and snuggle by night with! *Mazzy is being fostered in Edgerton, WI. Story
Meet Serena! My name is Serena and I am a sweet and special senior 55 lb lab/hound mix. I am both dog and cat friendly, but prefer to coexist and enjoy each others company rather than play. I have great house manners and do best going potty outside when on a consistent schedule. I do not require a crate and am trusted to roam freely in my foster home without any concerns. I LOVE to eat and am happy to join you for a snack! While I’m a sweet pup, I want to be up front with my preferences. I would do best in a home with a single woman or an understanding couple who accepts that a male in the home may never be my “person”. I would do best in a child free home (all ages). I require a securely fenced yard (5 feet or higher) since I spook easily. I am working on improving some skin issues so will require a high quality diet, medicated baths and monthly cytopoint injections. I am a gentle gal that is looking for someone who has compassion for dogs that have had a difficult past. I have so much love to give and am hoping to find my person who can spoil me and celebrate small victories as I learn what it means to be loved. Could my special person be you?? *Serena is being fostered in Stoughton, WI. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Meet Benji! Age: Senior Weight: 20 pounds (give or take. Who still weighs themselves?) Good with: Dogs, cats, kids (the perfect teifecta!) Houstrained: yes (but do best on a schedule and should be let out every 4-5 hours to avoid accidents). Crate trained: I don't need one because I just snooze while you're away! Special needs: blind, but get around great and diabetic, but easy peasy lemon squeezy! Plus my medicine is only about $25 a month from Wal-Mart! I'm a pretty easy-going, fun-loving little dude. I might not see with my eyes, but given just a little adjustment period, I see everything in all the other ways! I can jump up on the couch for a nap, or to sit with my humans, and I love being outside exploring the fenced yard in my foster home, but i also know how to walk on a leash for some great sniffaris. I love car rides, too! Foster mom says I'm the easiest diabetic dog she's ever had, and I don't even need special food, I just eat the kibble like everyone else here, and I do wonderful with it. I hope you can see past my special needs and see that I can be just like any other pup! *Benji is being fostered in Edgar, WI.
