Story
Know anyone who is looking for a belly rub lovin' best friend? Layla is ready for her forever home! Layla came to MWBCR as a stray from rural Iowa. She is a high energy freight train on four legs, but is totally content to be a couch potato, as long as she gets enough exercise throughout the day. Her foster mom currently ensures she gets two or three 30-minute exercise breaks per day - her very favorite workout is chasing the spray from a garden hose! Still a bit shy around new people, Layla does make fast friends after a short visit and some high-value treats. She loves belly rubs and booty scritches and will smooch her foster mom repeatedly as a thank you. She is a big snuggler, but often on her own terms. When she's not lounging on the sofa, she does have a very strong herding drive (hence her love of the garden hose spray). She runs circles around other dogs and people and will sometimes muzzle punch your leg to get you to do something… especially to throw a ball. She does sometimes do the typical herding "nip," but has never bitten. Layla is house-trained but may have an occasional (rare) accident, which is understandable for a dog that may have lived exclusively outside before being rescued. While she definitely prefers to be out and with her people for most of the day, she does settle nicely into her crate and will sleep 7-8 hours through the night in it. She would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time. She also does great in a hard-sided crate for car travel after she's had a good game of fetch or chasing the hose. One of Layla's biggest victories in her foster home has been her progress with the vet. When she first came into rescue, she was terrified and aggressive at the clinic, and she could not be seen without heavy sedation. Her foster mom has been taking her in for "happy visits" once a week for many months and she now happily trots in to accept snacks and praise from the staff. This has shown us that with a little work, she can definitely overcome fear of new places. Prior border collie or working/herding experience is required to adopt Layla, as this special girl definitely needs a home with a job, a solid understanding of the breed, and lots of patience. A fenced yard is preferred, but a family who makes the commitment to visiting a private park or other secure space for playtime may be considered. As a note, we very much know she will not be a good fit for a family with other smaller pets or young children. After proper introductions, she would probably do fine with a larger dog that can tolerate her herding tendencies. Like any new rescue, Layla would benefit greatly from time with a behavioral trainer, especially to work on her leash skills. She's a very strong girl who is reactive to moving vehicles, people, and animals. Layla has made incredible strides in her foster home and we know she will thrive with a forever family dedicated to helping her be her best self. Location & Contact Location: Southeast Wisconsin Contact: team@midwestbordercollierescue.org Location & Contact Visit our site for more info https://www.mwbcr.org/alldogs Location: Southeast Wisconsin Contact: team@midwestbordercollierescue.org

Story
Laika is 36 lbs and 3-4 years old. This sweet girl loves chasing and often retrieving balls in the house and outdoors. She loves to sniff around off-leash in a fenced back yard. Turn on your garden sprinkler and she will be entertained and exercised. Laika initiates belly runs and gives kisses to her foster mom as a thank you. Laika is more dominant than Layla and has a strong herding drive, so we recommend a home with no children, cats or small critters. She's a little nervous meeting new people and dogs, which we are working on. Laika is spayed and fully vaccinated. She will need a fenced yard and an experienced handler with a strong understanding of the breed and a willingness to provide lots of exercise and tennis balls. Hi Biggie Paws 🐾 Friends ! It’s me …Charlie, and I’m STILL here waiting for my Fur-Ever Family ! 🥹 I am an affectionate 🤗 two-year-old boy, weighing about 59 pounds …and I might just be (or look like) the Irish Wolfhound Mix of your dreams ! Currently, I’m staying in beautiful Woodstock, IL while I wait for that home where I can be loved unconditionally. 😊If you’re looking for a loyal friend who thrives on attention, then look no further ! I absolutely LOVE ❤️ being around people, and I’m known for my friendly demeanor. ☺️ Whether it’s a gentle pat on the head or a good belly rub, I soak up affection like a sponge. 🧽 I dream 💭 of a family where I’ll always feel wanted and cherished. After all, who wouldn’t want a furry friend that brings joy and laughter into their life ?I’ve been socialized with other dogs 🐕 and get along well with my canine companions. My big heart ❤️ extends to younger kiddos too ! However, due to my size my ‘parents’ would want to keep a VERY close eye 👀 on us cuz sometimes I forget just how big I am. 😔 Though I’ve never met any cats, 🐈 I’m open to the idea and would love to learn about them 🤓 from my new Family.I’m proud to say that I’m well on my way to being potty trained 🚽💩 ...as long as I’m kept on a regular schedule, I do my business outside without any issues. 😇 I also enjoy my daily walks and I am great on a leash. 🦮 I have a curious 🤔 spirit and a love for the outdoors, so having a secure space to play would be perfect !!When the day winds down, I know how to settle in for the night. I’m a good boy who sleeps 😴 soundly in my crate, ready to dream of all the fun adventures we could have together. I believe in the importance of a good night’s rest, and I’d love to curl up in my new home …feeling safe and secure. 🥰If you think we could be a perfect match, I would love ❤️ for you to fill out an application for consideration to adopt me ! I come fully equipped with all my age-appropriate shots. 💉 I have been neutered and I am also microchipped. My adoption fee is $450.www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

Story
Is she listening intently? Waving hello? Is she part unicorn!?!? No, it’s Chiquia (aka Bailey) and her cute ears! Unless she’s resting, you’ll see one ear standing up and the other one down!Chiquia (aka Bailey) is about 5 months old, around 8.5 pounds and looks like a Terrier mix. She is working very hard on all the puppy things: she is crate trained and is learning to walk on a leash. She even does a great job at going to the bathroom outside if taken out regularly. She likes kids and other dogs, but isn’t sure what to think about cats yet - she has decided that chasing them will help her figure them out. 😉Chiquia also has long legs and a great gallop which works well when she goes outside and has her zoomies! Don’t worry though, Chiquia (aka Bailey) is not 100% puppy mode all the time! Her foster family says she’s a perfect balance between puppy playfulness and knowing when it’s time to relax! She does need a little time to warm up to new faces, but once she does …she’ll be looking for pets and cuddles. Chiquia also likes routine, is food motivated and is a fast learner. She has been protective over her food, but she is taking redirection very well!Chiquia is a great companion and would love to find her forever family! She is up-to-date on all age-appropriate shots, is microchipped, spayed and is currently staying with her foster family in Kenosha, WI. Her adoption fee is $500.If you think Chiquia would be a good fit for your family and are interested in being considered to adopt her, please fill out the application below! www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

Story
You wouldn’t believe that anyone could just throw 2 adorable puppies into a dumpster like trash… 🗑️ but that’s where Clover & Cassidy’s story started. These 2 southern belles were saved from a dumpster and brought here 🚐 to Wisconsin, where they can literally find greener pastures! Sisters Cassidy & Clover 🍀 are some of the friendliest gals you’ll ever meet! They look like they are Australian Cattle dog and/or hound dog mixes. Clover especially has some unique and gorgeous 😍 markings like a cattle dog would. Clover is nearly 8 months old and weighs around 35 pounds. Clover is being fostered in central 📍 Wisconsin and has an adoption fee of $500. She is spayed, microchipped and UTD on all age-appropriate shots. 💉Clover is the definition of loyal. She is very intelligent and follows all the commands her foster mom has taught her. She knows “down,” “come,” “sit,” 🪑 and “kennel.” She’s also working on “beg” or sitting pretty as some might call it. She’s really becoming a refined young lady! Her manners have come a long way in the short time she’s been at her WI foster home. 🏡 She no longer jumps up on people… because she knows that would be rude! Playing fetch 🎾 out in the yard and getting pets 💕 from her favorite people are some of Clover’s FAVORITE things! After a good, long play session she likes to nap quietly in her kennel or on the couch next to her favorite person. 😴 Clover is still getting used to being around kids but she learns to trust quickly and would do well around children of all ages if properly introduced. She’s the same way around dogs… a little shy at first but once she gets to know them she enjoys their company! Clover has also met cats 🐈‍⬛ and chickens 🐓 and she will chase but means no harm. If you think Clover 🍀 could bring some extra luck and love ❤️ to your life, you can apply to adopt her at:https://www.biggiepawsrescue.org DATCP #494550DATCP # 494550
