Story
Twelve-year-old Sunny has spent eight years at Little Victories. Sunny has been through the ringer when it comes to injuries -- two CCL tears, knees chocked full of arthritis, and a major fall that left her with a broken jaw and no teeth. She has been through so much, but this silly, happy girl deserves to be pain free for the rest of her days. She has a home at Little Victories for as long as she needs, but a place for Sunny to spend her final years of life would be life changing. This senior girl needs a hero.

Paisley

American Staffordshire Terrier

Female, 4 yrs 9 mos
Ona, WV
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
What my friends at Little Victories say about me: Pretty Paisley loves attention and booty scratches from everyone she meets and is always happy to see a human friend. Some of her favorite activites include: playing tug, short adventure walks, and chasing the flirt pole. Paisley is full of energy and excitement, to say the least. She settles well in a kennel, but she loves being active. Paisley will make an excellent pet for an active-dog home (meaning her family actively spends productive time with her on a daily basis). The best kind of home for Paisley: Paisley gets very easily overaroused, so we do not recommend her for a family with children. She will need help learning to walk nicely on a leash as she is very strong and wants to chase small animals. Developing an off switch for her excited state will be very beneficial for her future family. She has a lot of energy that will require more fulfillment than daily neighborhood walks (examples: playing tug or with a flirt/spring pole, obedience training). Paisley will be a great pet dog for a family that can keep up her active lifestyle and manage her quirks.

Oreo

Australian Cattle Dog Australian Shepherd

Female, 5 yrs 8 mos
Ona, WV
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
What my friends at Little Victories say about me: Oreo is an extremely lovable, high-drive Australian Cattle Dog mix who needs someone more quick-witted than she is. She is extremely smart and will act on her drive in any elevated situation. This dog is not for the average pet owner, but she can be very sociable with adult humans in the right context. She is full of energy and would love an adult family that can take her for adventures. The best kind of home for Oreo: Oreo needs an adopter who will not allow her to push them around and will work her mind as well as her body. A fenced yard and neighborhood walks are not gonna cut it for this girl who was made to work! She is house trained and does well in a crate (plastic is best). We do not recommend Oreo for a home with children. This girl wants to work, and we hope she can find a home where she can do just that. We adore this dog and her intense personality, and we think she is going to be a great addition to the right home.

Molly

Labrador Retriever American Pit Bull Terrier

Female, 5 yrs 4 mos
Ona, WV
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
What my friends at Little Victories say about me: Molly is very energetic and enthusiastic and is very sociable with people. She likes playing with a ball and learning new things! Molly is very reactive to other dogs and has had aggressive incidents, specifically with dogs. She is a very strong, powerful girl who is difficult to manage without proper direction. With the right guidance, however, Molly is learning to be great on a leash. Because of her temperament, Molly is deeply struggling in the shelter, causing her to be anxious and drop weight dramatically. She does, however do extremely well when crated and given ample enrichment/stimulation. The best kind of home for Molly: Molly has shown that she is very receptive to appropriate guidance and enjoys clear direction. She was initially difficult to walk on a leash, but with the introduction of proper training tools, she is making great progress. She does well on low-trigger walks and would thrive in a home that could continue professional training. She could also do well in a more rural environment that allows her the freedom of being a dog without constant triggers (dogs). Molly really is such a cuddly, sweet playful dog who just needs someone who can balance her quality of life with her triggers.

Duncan

Husky Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, 2 yrs 7 mos
Ona, WV
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
What my friends at Little Victories say about me: Duncan is the sweetest, cuddliest guy we know! He is very affectionate once he gets to know you. He does need a little time and neutrality to feel comfortable meeting new people, but give him some space and he will come to you. Pictures barely do this cute face justice, and he loves to cuddle up next to a person he knows and trusts. Duncan is young, bouncy, and playful, as any pup should be. He plays like a young dog, but he loves the company of other dogs who also want to play. He is one of our best testers for other pups! Duncan walks very well on a leash. The best kind of home for Duncan: Duncan is young and adaptable, so with a family willing to put in the work, he will easily thrive. His nervousness can be greatly helped by investing in training and overall confidence building. He should meet any other dogs in the house before adoption and does not get along with cats. Duncan is not house trained, but he is crate trained. He should be supervised in a yard as his previous family said he could climb, but we have not seen this behavior.

Story
Howard has such a great attitude about life! He is very sweet and loves to be wherever you are He does well for routine vetting, grooming, and rides well in the car. His favorite activities are running and chewing on toys. Howard is an active guy who had a pretty rough start to his time with us, but we know a great home out there for him. He always has something to say! The best kind of home for Howard: Howard does well with strangers in and out of the home, and he has done well previously with other dogs and children. We have not tested him with cats. Howard has been known to guard his resources, so feeding separately from other animals and watching him carefully with toys and coveted items will be essential. This is an all-around great dog who will really make his future family happy.
