*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Yuki, a three year old Husky/Pit mix.Yuki is an adorable girl who appears older than she actually is due to the grey around her muzzle, however, her age is pretty spot on considering we adopted her out as a puppy. We always love to see our dogs all grown up, but we hate to see them come back into us. We contacted her adopter only to find out they had rehomed her. They swore they were going to have the people they rehomed her to reach out but we never heard back so Yuki continues to wait. Yuki is a very sweet girl who is a bit nervous but loves to check in with her people for reassurance. She walks very well on the leash and weighs a petite 44 pounds. We adore this gentle mannered sweetheart and our heart breaks to see her back with us. This time we are determined to find her forever home. This pet is available for adoption on 12/15/2024 at 10:57 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?? That`s where you and the pet make sure you`re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption. It`s a win-win for everyone! Just ask our front desk staff about how it works.Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet? Please complete our adoption questionnaire found at: https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/apply/Our adoption fee includes a lovable companion, spay/neuter, vaccinations and intestinal worming, flea/tick treatment, rabies vaccine (for pets over 3-4 months of age) and a microchip with nationwide registration. Your adoption fee helps support YHS and our spay/neuter efforts in the community to end overpopulation of cats and dogs.If you have any questions, please e-mail us at adoption@yakimahumane.org.

Story
Meet Fiesta, a 1.5-year-old female Husky mix.Fiesta got her name because she is the life of the party! At around 40 pounds she is a great medium-sized dog. She loves attention and is ready to smile all the time. Fiesta loves playing with the dogs we have introduced her to, she enjoys being chased and jumping around. She would be fine as an only dog but would also enjoy a home with another playful dog to roughhouse with. Fiesta was adopted but sadly returned for not doing well with livestock and cats, this isn’t surprising for her breed mix and since we want her to succeed we don’t recommend her to go to a home with livestock or small animals. She laid down and posed during her pictures which made us smile, it’s pretty rare to find a dog that does that! Speaking of rare, this is a Husky that enjoys playing in water! We put a kiddie pool outside for her and she was all about that life. Fiesta loves treats and wants to please, with some training and structure there isn’t much this girl won’t be able to do! Fiesta recently went on a public dog walk and this is what they had to say about her! “Her name is accurate! She was ready to go!!! She would be perfect for an active person or family. She enjoyed jogging/sprinting, sniffing everything, and rolling in fresh grass (sending in another email). Once she got her energy out she was more responsive to commands, ignored other dogs, and did not chase after anything. She is very playful and fun.”If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Roman, a 5 and a half -year-old male Husky mix.Roman was abandoned at our front gate, thankfully nothing bad happened to him since we are right next to a busy highway. We called him microchipped owners but they stated they had rehomed him and didn’t have contact info for the new owners. Roman is a very typical husky with a goober personality. He loves to go on walks and does a little jump when he gets excited to start going somewhere. He is all about the attention, toys and treats. He will happily do “sit” and “down” for treats and then look at you expectantly for a reward. Unlike other Huskies Roman enjoys getting into the kiddie pool during hot summers, he is a blast! We love Roman’s outgoing personality and know you will to. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Randy, a 5-year-old male Rottweiler/Pitbull mix. Randy came in to us pretty under weight, but 15 pounds later he is looking much better. He has played in the play yard with other dogs and got along great with another resident named Kenny. He is a friendly boy who plays fetch and is working on basic commands. Despite his size Randy walks pretty good on his leash and doesn’t yank you around, at 75 pound he could throw his weight around if he wanted to. He tends to bond strong and is a protective breed so please do your research prior to applying to adopt this big sweetheart. Randy enjoys playing fetch and returns the ball quite frequently like the good boy that he is. He has met several dogs while with us and has done very well. One dog even escaped and found herself in his run and he was totally chill with it! Randy is looking for a home that has lots of love and food! This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
