Story
Courtesy Post - Luna Rae; not located at SVASC Read more about her below: "Hi, my name is Luna Rae aka "Bug" I am a boxer/terrier/pit mix and just turned three on December 29th! I am very energetic and get super excited when people come around, but no worries - I do calm down and become quite the love bug. I am hoping to be adopted by someone where I can be the ONLY pet, as I love ALL the attention and just have so much love to share. I am up to date on my shots and have been spayed and microchipped. I am also crate trained and house broken! I love chewing on my bones and sometimes climb up in your lap and see if you want to try and take it from me. I haven't been exposed to many young kids so my energy may be a bit much for them and tend to jump up, but I am doing better with that. I know commands such as sit, crate and treat.....oh how I love treats and I have been known to give some high fives. I will tell you that I am not a fan of the vacuum cleaner that thing is loud, and I will go after it so it doesn't get you." For more information, reach out to Luna Rae's human at kejmom729@gmail.com

Story
Tater is truly one of a kind. Currently in a foster with a shelter staff member, we confidently report that he is SO goofy, playful, sweet and eager to please. He makes up for his slightly stubborn streak by being SO CUTE! He is a huge snuggler & very demanding about his lovins'! He'll burrow under the covers at night and will lay right on top of you if you're Netflix & Chillin' on the couch. Tater is the epitome of joy and goofiness once he's comfortable and is the most loving, loyal companion you could ask for! Also....he snores....loudly. His current K9 roommate is basically an older brother to Tater and is SO TOLERANT with his rough-housing ways. We think kids 15+ would be best for that reason - Tater knows not his size and strength. At the dog park, Tater LOVES to play with the other pups! He also currently co-exists with two cats! Only one will tolerate him even though he does the prance dance (he thinks everyone wants to play) but "leave it" corrects him, and Tater has never inflicted harm. Cat says, "nah, bro," but then will curl up in the same bed. With people, Tater has come a long way. Initially, he would growl, bark and jump on just about any guy who didn't already possess a confident, assertive presence. In recent months, they've worked hard to develop trust around humans and happily report that Tater might bark initially, but has absolutely calmed and is so much less fearful (unless his "weirdo" radar goes off - then, pay attention). Tater is crate-trained with the phrase, "go to your place," and is overall a submissive boy. He knows lots of other commands and phrases, too, including - BONUS - "dry your paws off!" for when it rains. Tater comes with his quirks, so emailing his SVASC foster mum for more details about this sweet doofus is the way to go! EMAIL: Claire, Outreach Coordinator, crattan@co.augusta.va.us updated 11/20/24

bio pending! notes: Still acts like a puppy! Would probably like a "job" to do. Very excitable and playful. Seems to get along with other pups if they are also friendly, but who have good boundaries. Fairly bulky boy. Eager, affectionate. Will absolutely calm once he gets his energy out. Loves his belly rubs! updated 12/27/24

Story
Looking for an excitable & sweet, eager-to-please new addition to your fam? LIZZY TEE could be for you! A beautiful girl, Lizzy LOVES people and would ALWAYS be ecstatic to see you when you come home! She's bouncy & bright; named after Elizabeth Taylor because she's soooo pretty! Truly, she looks like a rottie half dipped in cattle dog! Miss Lizzy would likely appreciate a calm home in order to feel secure as she startles easily. Loud noises and commotion are not her cup of tea. She doesn't seem anxious when left to her own devices, though. Lizzy Tee appears potty-trained & sits well for treats, but isn't the best on a leash. She's a very manageable size, however; and VERY treat motivated so training her up to snuff should be a cinch! She's a smart one! We think Lizzy Tee would be great with respectful kids, but are so far unsure about how she handles other dogs and we believe cats may not be for her. We will keep her bio updated with any news! Call the shelter to set up a meet & greet with Lizzy! updated: 11/06/24
