Story
Widget is a sweet, active, and smart younger female brindle. We think she is a Tennessee treeing cur mix. She's very fast and loves to run and play with other dogs or people. Inside she enjoys cuddles, kisses, and chewing small bones. She's never met a dog or cat she didn't want to play with. She's great with our sassy cat and our ornery 8-month-old baby. Widget came from a rescue who found her right after birth and was bottle-fed by her foster mom. She has never lived in a home without other dogs and cats. She is just over 1 (13-14 months) but is fully grown at about 26 lbs. While we love her and have enjoyed her very much we were transferred to another city where we will be unable to provide her with a yard and the appropriate living conditions she deserves. This girl needs a companion dog and a yard to run!  Facts:  Young female; 1 year or less Size: Small/Medium 25-30 lbs Good with Cats Dogs People Kids Fixed & House Trained Learning to catch a ball

Story
We’ve had Lemon since she was 12 weeks old. She is now 6. She has some trust issues and is very skittish/scared/agressive, but can be very loving. But it definitely will take her some time to warm up to any potential new owners. Specifically, we’re looking to rehome her because we have a 1 year old child who she does not get along with. She hasn’t ever bitten him, but barks and growls at him. She also has pushed him and cut him when playing (i.e. jumped on him to get a toy, or cut his hands when trying to take a ball from him). She also is aggressive/reactive with other dogs, so keeping her away from other dogs is vital. Lemon would work best with someone who has experience with reactive/aggressive dogs. She would also work best in a house with no other pets or children. We love Lemon but we ultimately need to do what’s best for our child, so we’re hoping that someone can give her the love, attention, and patience that she deserves.

Story
Meet Skylar….Skylar is an affectionate, snuggly, and loyal pup whose biggest passion in life is her person. She thrives on love and attention and her favorite activities include playing fetch and curling up for snuggles on the couch. This smart girl is crate-trained, housetrained, knows basic commands, and has mastered going to her “place.” Skylar is full of fun and love, and like all dogs, she comes with a few quirks— but everyone knows the quirks are what we love about our dogs. She’s great with new people and visitors but can be a little anxious around other dogs. Because of this, Skylar would do best as the only dog where she can shine as the center of attention. Skylar was rescued by a Good Samaritan running as a stray in rural SC. She was just a young pup and was fortunate to have someone looking out for her. The Good Samaritan took Sklyar into her home which included kids and other dogs. She did a gradual introduction of Sklyar to her pack, taking more than a week to fully integrate her. She was still a very young dog and we feel the managed, slow introduction helped her trust the other dogs. When Skylar first came to town, she was anxious and had some leash reactivity around other dogs. Skylar has made progress thanks to her foster mom, Terri, dedication and training, which included a board-and-train program and regular training sessions. She’s even participated in group training sessions with other dogs, proving she can adapt with the right leadership. Skylar needs a handler who understands how to manage her behavior on walks. Once indoors, she shines and has better people skills and house manners than most dogs—she’s fine being left home alone and will give you a hero’s welcome when you return. Since graduating from training, Skylar has learned to focus on Terri when they go for walks, and she’s become desensitized to the neighborhood dogs. If she does get excited, she recovers more quickly, and her recall is much improved. The ideal home for Skylar would be in a quiet, low-traffic neighborhood with a fenced yard. She will flourish as an only dog and needs an adopter who will set the rules and help build her confidence. She will gladly comply with lots of love and kisses.  This sweet pup is LONG overdue for her happy ending. Worthy Dog is committed to Skylar's success and will donate training sessions to help Skylar’s new family transition her into their home. We are also open to FOSTER-TO-ADOPT for serious adopters. ******** Worthy Dog is committed to Skylar and her success and will donate training sessions to help Skylar’s new family transition her into their home. Story
Meet Clyde. The sweet senior was surrendered with his brother, Charlie, to our rescue by the only family they’ve ever known. While these two boys technically had a home, they were kept in the basement and did not have the care or engagement they deserved. Both dogs came into the rescue in dire need of dental work, both living with pain and infection. Clyde also had a heart murmur that needed medication. Both pups have been fully vetted, had dental work, and been groomed, and they’re getting lots of love and attention and flourishing in wonderful foster homes. These pups are exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people. NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. Since they can be adopted as a pair or separately, we are featuring each pup individually. Clyde is a charming 11-year-old Maltese who will melt your heart with his soft cuddles and soulful eyes. He is a very gentle, affectionate, and laid-back boy who loves to be near his people and enjoys cuddling with his dog buddies. His foster home is an active household with a mom, dad, teen son, and two larger dogs, and he does well with everyone. Clyde would thrive in a quiet, loving home with someone who understands the joy and fulfillment of caring for and loving a senior dog. Whether you’re retired, work from home, or just want a sweet companion to keep you company, Clyde is ready to bring his gentle presence into your life. He enjoys short, leisurely strolls or just hanging out at home — he’s very adaptable and the perfect buddy for someone who enjoys a slower pace of life. He would do best in a home with a laidback pup companion and really appreciates the companionship of a dog buddy. As a senior, Clyde has some health issues to manage. He has a grade 4 to 5 heart murmur, which requires daily medications. We had an echocardiogram done to assess his condition, and he was cleared for dental surgery. He’s doing well on the medication and already had his dental cleaning and extractions. He’s feeling so much better now; his mouth infections are gone, and he has a new pep in his step. Clyde’s care will include bi-yearly bloodwork (which all seniors should have) and regular echocardiograms to monitor his heart condition every 6 to 12 months. Because of his past home conditions, Clyde currently wears a belly band during the day to protect him from marking or pee accidents. He knows to potty outside and will always poop outside. We suspect he has a mix of learned behavior from his prior home, older age, and some of the medications he is on make him more prone to potty. He has already learned to hold it overnight and enjoys snuggling up with this foster family in bed, so we’ve seen improvement. His foster mom has also noted that he tends to have more accidents when change or activity happens…so we think he could continue to improve in a calm environment. Despite his medical needs, Clyde’s foster mom, Jenn, describes him as a lovable, low-maintenance companion who is happiest snuggled up beside you or snoozing in a cozy bed. Clyde is a calm little guy who doesn’t ask for much — just a quiet, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years. Clyde may have a few extra needs, but the love he has to give is immeasurable. If you have room in your heart and home for this sweet senior, consider Clyde and apply today. Story
Meet Gracie! This adorable little nugget was found running as a stray in York County, SC, and picked up by Animal Control. That turned out to be her lucky day because one of our amazing foster moms, Laine, volunteers at the shelter and didn’t hesitate to step up and help. Now, Miss Gracie is safe in rescue and settling into her foster home with Laine, Gary, and their pack of four pups! Gracie has already won over her foster family and quickly bonded with her new pack. She loves to play, gets the zoomies, and hops like a rabbit when she’s excited—something that keeps Laine laughing. She was quickly welcomed by the resident dogs, finding playmates in the two younger pups and a bestie in her fellow pittie, Ziege. We’ve learned that Gracie is both crate-trained and house-trained! She was a little timid at first, adjusting to all the new sights and sounds of home life, but she’s settling in beautifully. Every day, her confidence grows with more exposure and reassurance from her foster family. Laine shared this update: "Gracie is a diamond in the rough, and I could just squeeze her to pieces! She’s such a happy girl—still a little too thin and always acting like she’s starving, but that’s improving now that she knows she can count on regular meals. She loves toys and can be so silly! Today, she decided the throw rug was a toy and pulled it into the dog bed with her. She’s also obsessed with the water hose and is learning how to have fun. I only expect her to blossom even more as she settles in." Gracie is already showing what a special girl she is, and we can’t wait to see her continue to thrive! Updates to follow as she settles in.  This cutie pie is ready to start her new life and will be coming to town in February.  Apply today! Story
Meet Peyton. Peyton was part of an abandoned family of pups we rescued. She and her mate, Woody, had been living outside in the bitter winter cold when we found them, and Peyton was very pregnant. Thankfully, we got them to safety just in time. She delivered her babies in a warm, loving foster home and proved to be a wonderful, attentive mama. Now that her pups have been weaned and she’s been spayed, Peyton is officially retired from motherhood and ready for her next chapter—finding a forever home of her own. Peyton has been in her new foster home for almost two weeks now, where she lives with her foster mom and dad, a pittie, and two chihuahuas. She integrated easily into the pack, feeling most comfortable at first with the dogs closer to her size, but now she’s playing with the pittie too. Peyton truly enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a canine buddy in her new home. Donna, her foster mom, describes Peyton as having a great personality. She can be a little shy at first, but with just a little attention, she settles in quickly and builds trust. She’s a fun little low rider who enjoys playing fetch and loves her toys. She's crate-trained and sleeps in her crate at night, and housetrained. She has a moderate energy level - she's happy romping around with her foster siblings, but also enjoys cuddling up on the couch for some downtime. She’s very enthusiastic about giving kisses, and Donna is gently working with her on moderation. Peyton has started going on regular leash walks and seems to really enjoy them. She loves the outdoors and greets new people and dogs with ease. She’s house-trained and crate-trained—she sleeps in her crate at night, whining a bit at first but quickly settling in. Thanks to her good behavior, she’s earned more freedom around the house, and Donna plans to let her roam at night. FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 5/4/25 "Peyton is super sweet, loves to cuddle and watch out our front window taking everything in. She’s a good eater and sleeps soundly through the night. She loves to give kisses, sometimes too much, so we are working on that.  She's been great with our pack and we've even had some playdates with neighborhood dogs. She would do best with a dog buddy who will play with her. She loves to run around and explore the yard with the other dogs.  Petydon has done great with with house training, no accidents at all - and enjoys her walks too. I have not noticed fear of traffic or cars that have gone by us while walking. She is more curious about people and wildlife. Otherwise, she is a pretty confident walker." ********* Peyton is a lovely little dog with goodwill toward everyone she meets. She’ll make a wonderful, affectionate companion—and a perfect pup buddy, too.  Apply today!
