Story
Ridgeline came to CVHS when a multiple dog household was too much for the owners to manage.Ridgeline is LOVING having toys to play with, and adorably gets zoomies around our fenced yards. Ridgeline is familiar with access to a fenced yard, and he would be happiest with a fenced-in yard he can hang out in, poking around sniffing, playing with toys, running freely, and quietly hanging out. Ridgeline walks nicely on a harness and leash, so a yard is not essential for him to be happy.Ridgeline sleeps happily in a crate at night, and should be crated when left home alone. In his previous home, he lived with many other large dogs in a small house, and there were occasional scuffles that were probably the result of living in a confined space. While here, he has met other dogs, and is friendly and wiggly, and plays well. We feel that he`d be fine living with another dog with similar energy levels, and would enjoy having dog friends to visit and play with. He LOVES everyone he has met here, and is a favorite of staff and volunteers. He did well with children of all ages in his previous home. He has not met any cats.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Ridgeline’s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Ridgeline.

Story
Do you KNOW and love the husky breeds? Are you a single-dog kind of person, with no desire for other animals in your life? Elfie could be the perfect dog for you! Husky experience, and love of the classic sassiness that the breed exemplifies, is a requirement for her next home. Elfie came to us when her prior home was not a good match for her because she is not good around other animals. She`s done well with humans, but this small package has a high prey drive, and should not be around other animals. She has not done well meeting other dogs in her prior home, and we have not had a chance yet to do dog intros with her while at CVHS, so we are looking for a home where she can be the only animal.Elfie would do best with older kids (teenagers and up), and likes to cuddle, on her terms. She relaxes nicely in a crate, as long as there are no other animals around, and enjoys couch time getting belly rubs.Elfie is smart as a whip, and really enjoys learning new things with force-free training. She has a bit of the typical husky aloofness, but is also very attentive to the people she loves.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Elfie`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about her, and to determine if you should meet Elfie.

Story
Tickles came to us when the person he`d spent his entire life with lost their home, and could not find anywhere to live, especially with multiple pets. Tickles arrived with two other dogs, and was adopted into a loving home with littermate Hotdog. Unfortunately, as sometimes happens with littermates who have been together their entire lives, these two have decided that 14 years with their sibling is plenty long enough! So they are back with us, hanging out in separate condos this time, and we are looking for homes for them individually. Tickles is a friendly and cheerful dog, and quite active in our fenced-in yards, despite his age. Keeping him active is important for his on-going need to get to a healthier weight. In the past, Tickles lived with other dogs, cats, children, and even farm animals, but maybe he`s now wishing to spend his golden years getting all the attention for himself. We can talk about whether other animals in the home would be a match for him. When you adopt an elder pet, you are truly doing it for them, to focus on their needs: medical, physical, and emotional. The love and devotion you get back may be a brief time, but it`s absolutely priceless. If you are looking for a real character to add to your life, who will give you plenty of laughs and love, Tickles could be just what you are looking for! Could you be the next loving home in his journey? The adoption fee for Tickles is $100, and if his new person would like to take a Good Manners training course, that will be available at our discounted fee of $100. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about Tickles, and to determine if you should meet him.

Story
Juno was picked up as a stray, and no one has come to claim her. We are happy to have her fun personality as part of the CVHS family. With strays, we do not have background information on them, so we learn together as we go! Juno has settled in beautifully, and is having a lot of fun in our sensory garden, and our fenced-in yards. She LOVES playing with a tennis ball, and will ignore everything else around her if she can play ball!We don`t know how Juno feels about cats. With the dog introductions that have happened here at CVHS, we feel she might do best without living with another dog. IF there is another dog in her new home, it should be a calm dog as some dogs overwhelm and scare Juno, if they are too energetic and in her face. A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Juno`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about her, and to determine if you should meet Juno.

Story
Navy came with his housemate Sprout to CVHS when his family had major life challenges. Navy is very friendly, will jump to greet you, and possibly try to be in your skin. He loves car rides, attention from humans, and to run! He has previously lived with a child under 6 years old, but he`s a jumpy boy, so older kids in his new home would be best. He does great with pal Sprout but hasn`t made any other dog friends in a while. Navy cannot live with cats, as he will chase them, and not playfully. When his people were not around, he was confined to the kitchen and did well for a few hours at a time. He is not crate trained.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Navy`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Navy.

Story
Sable is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy all the best parts of being a dog.She started out as a hunting dog, but had no interest in that lifestyle, and went to live in another home. Due to the busy lifestyle of that home, she was surrendered here where she can find someone who can devote more time to her, and to housetrain her. She`s a typical beagle when it comes to following her nose, so a dog buddy who will also stay focused on the amazing scents to explore would make her happy. Sable loves a walk, but is also content to hang out with her people, sniffing in our yards. She is up for anything, as long as she can be with people: hiking, tv on the couch, a walk in the park; she would love to be your buddy. We have noticed that Sable can be scared of loud noises. She is not very vocal, especially for a beagle. She loves chew toys and treats. She has been with children; she`s very gentle, even when jumping up for greetings. She did live with a dog-savvy cat previously.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Sable`s $350.00 adoption fee, as well as toilet-training resources. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about her, and to determine if you should meet Sable.
