Story
Hi, I am Shinzo: an 10 yr old, 70 lb male McNab mix. The first word that comes to mind when you see me is regal, being poised in my stature, walk and behavior, but you might catch me playfully hopping with my dog buddies. When we first meet I need a moment to stand back to check you out just to determine if you're friend or foe, but don't worry...I'm a love bug after I've made my decision and see that you are worthy. I get along great with the dogs in my foster house, and I am great with kids. (Sorry, I don't like cats though.) I prefer not to bark (even when others are) as I am too well-mannered, but I have a wonderful deep bark if needed. I already know how to use a doggy door and am completely trained to do my business outside. Unlike some of my herding friends, I'm not hyperactive. I do need room and time to exercise (wait till you see how good I am on a leash!) but I also enjoy a nice nap at your side. I might nudge you with my nose if I feel you're ignoring me, but you'll think it's super cute. Don't fret, this regal boy doesn't require a throne...just a home and family where I can show you what a perfect dog I am to love and to love you.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $100. Story
Who says good things come in small packages? Sometimes they come in big, furry bodies with eyes that will melt your heart. My name is Andre. I am a 5 year old 85 lb. teddy bear, and my goal in life is to snuggle all the people and collect all the treats. I may be a Pyrenees mix or just a mix of a bunch of adorableness. I'm desperately searching for a family who needs a pup willing to walk with them, play with them, protect them, and snuggle the loneliness out of them. I am a super smart guy who would love to learn more than basic commands (I know sit, touch and down). I need to learn the nuances of living in a house with my beloved humans. I'd make an amazing emotional support pup because I almost NEED to be around my humans. I mean, what happens if they need a snuggle and I'm not around? I'd do best in a house with a fence, and I would probably struggle with small children because I'm a bit pushy when snuggles and treats are involved. (Of course, training would also address this!) I'd love another big dog who enjoys wrestling and playing tug. I'm confident, affectionate and really fond of people. If you think you might have room in your home - and your heart - for a big sweetie like me, let's meet!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Story
My name is Zinnia, but my friends call me Zinny! I am a 40# petite, 1-1/2 year old Lab X. I am the perfect Pocket Lab pup if you ask me! I may be a bit shy at first, but once I warm up to you, I'm as sweet as can be! The puppy in me still learning to trust humans, but I'm incredibly energetic and playful once I feel safe. Oh, and I love to howl - it's my way of expressing myself! I'm ready to find a loving home where I can thrive! I'm a big fan of squeaky toys, and bones - they're just so much fun! My bestest home would be some awesome, active people who love to play with me, while still teaching and training me to be my best self! I adore other dogs, am crate and house-trained, and know plenty of tricks. I would need to have very respectful older kids, and am very curious about cats. Would you want to be mine? ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Zinnia, please fill out an online application at caws.org. Thanks! Story
This stunning guy is Misio, pronounced 'Misho' which is Polish for Teddy Bear. Misio is a 7.5 year old Australian Shepherd who is currently on a diet to get to his ideal weight of about 37 pounds. Misio is looking for a patient and mature household to live the rest of his years. He is working through some trust issues and is learning to let his guard down. But once he knows you are safe, he will be yours forever. Misio likes to be near people but isnt overly cuddly, he is content to be in his own space near you. He'd do best in a home with adults only and no other animals. Misio is still very active and he would love to be your hiking, camping, or running companion! He is very outgoing and loves to chase a ball around the yard. He is also very smart and picks up on training quickly. Misio needs a forever home that can provide him with mental stimulation and a physical outlet. He can be chill in the house, but is also not a couch potato. He is house trained and crate trained and walks well on leash. With a little bit of training, a dash of patience, and a person who will be active with him, Misio will be an amazing companion for years to come! Dogs are not placed on a first- come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Story
Meet Gracie, a 3-year-old German Shepherd who is the perfect mix of affection, playfulness, and devotion. She's an overall confident and happy dog who wants to share her love with you. Gracie loves being outside, going for walks and she LOVES to play. A fenced yard and rousing game of fetch brings her great joy - she'll drop her ball at your feet and gaze at you with those soulful eyes while patiently waiting for you to take your turn. Treats are not a big thing for her but she is motivated by toys. Gracie is a stunning beauty at 65 pounds - she's physically and mentally strong, and needs humans who will continue to teach her how to walk politely on leash and who will keep her brain occupied through mental activities. She sometimes forgets her house manners and will try to get on a counter or other high surface, but she's a good listener who takes correction well. Gracie absolutely loves her people and she promises that you will be the apple of her eye, and asks that she be yours in return. She does not like to share your attention with other animals, and should be the only pet in the home. Gracie is fully house trained and crate trained, and quiet in the house. If you're looking for a canine companion to share your life with, Gracie is ready to become your steadfast and loving friend. Story
Hi! My name is Sweet Pea! I'm called that because I'm as sweet as they come! I am initially a scared girl but once I feel safe and I know you are my friend I will give you love and loyalty, bonus if you offer up extra good treats! I'm currently working on wearing a collar or being on a leash. I've had a few bad experiences with them, so I'm looking for a home with a fenced in yard until I'm comfortable with them. I am a little 18lb min pin mix and I love to run and do zoomies with the other little dog in my foster home - I would be happiest with the companionship of another similar sized dog to play with and help show me the ropes. I'm hoping someone can see the potential I have and will be willing to give me time and space to feel comfortable. I would do best in a home with no kids or older children who know how to respect a dog's space. I may do fine with dog-savvy cats. I am house and crate trained and would love to be your loyal shadow. Might you have the time and love to help me become my very best dog?My adoption fee is $200. I am fully vetted- spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and health checked.
