Story
This delightfully charming fellow is Manchas, listed as a Catahoula Leopard mix that was surrendered on 4/8 to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. He weighs 60 pounds, is about 4 years old and is neutered. This remarkable boy has lots of personality. He knows the sit and paw commands. He is exuberant and excitable. Sweet boy is playful and loves squeaky toys! He will entertain himself and you when playing with his toys. He sits for treats and takes them politely. This friendly boy is perfectly happy with being petted and loved on. He has the best smile and would truly be a wonderful pet for someone who would stay committed to him, allow him to live inside and give him plenty of daily exercise, playtime, and maybe even teach him a few new commands. He appears to be house trained. He walks fine on a leash.

Story
Meet Hennessy! She is a 3 yr old spayed female brindle pitbull mix that weighs 32 lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/3 as an owner surrender. Reason for surrender was unwanted. Hennessy is a lovely girl that was adopted previously from our shelter. During this time, she did not receive the best care. She is malnourished, skin is dry, some hair loss around her neck and hard calluses on her back hips showing she was living outside on concrete. Despite this she still has a happy go lucky loving personality. She enjoys going on walks, being petted and loved on. When sitting in a chair she will jump in my lap for pets. She remembers the sit/lay command and does take treats somewhat gently. She will be receiving additional feedings that I know will help her feel better. As we walked past the other dogs barking at her, she didn`t pay any attention, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home, please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. She would love to have a secured backyard to play in, but most importantly live indoors where she can be close and cuddly with her human companions. Please give this lovely girl the chance at her final loving home she so deserves.

Story
This handsome boy is Ace, a mixed breed pup surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/5. Yes, folks that makes 4+ months as a resident at the shelter and it is wearing on him! The stress of living in a 7 1/2’ x 4’ kennel without the opportunity to get out daily to stretch his legs and go to the potty, as well as listening to dogs barking all around him is affecting him negatively. A staff member mentioned that he sometimes reacts in an unfriendly manner to dogs who walk past his kennel. If you are interested in this youngster, please ask the shelter staff for a dog test. Former owner stated that he lived inside, is house trained, lived with and was OK with other dogs and does NOT like cats. Reason for the surrender was that they have or are expecting a baby. Ace will sit for treats, but is a bit too eager to take them gently. He is a friendly boy and is OK with receiving petting and being loved on. He also knows the paw and stay commands. He walks fine on a leash.

Story
Meet Mia, an American Pit Bull/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix that was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 4/19. Mia is more than ready to leave the confines of the shelter after 3 months and settle into a home in which she will be cherished and loved. She weighs about 45 pounds, is 4-5 years old and is spayed. She came in looking as though she had not been well cared for with scrapes on her face, scruffy fur, some flaky scaly skin, and underweight, but with a daily healthy food and the care she has received she looks far more healthy. She has a moderate activity level and does jump on you some, though not excessively. She does fine on a leash. She has had at least one litter of pups. Mia is happy to receive treats and does so politely. She`s friendly and likes to receive loving attention. She`s a playful girl and enjoys toys. She found the cozy doggie bed in the room in which I did her eval and she enjoyed the soft and comfortable feel of it. This tail-wagging, lively gal would be thrilled to find her very own loving home in which she would be allowed to live inside because it seems highly probable that she has been a backyard dog. Won`t you please assist Mia in finding her dream home?

Story
Meet Eva! She is a 2 yr old female spayed terrier pitbull mix that weighs 56lbs, and is so adorable! She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 5/21. Eva has such a spirit and outgoing personality. She is so excited to be out of her kennel and on her way to play in the kennel yard. She does jump with excitement, but once her energy is out, she loves to lay down on the floor or a fluffy puppy bed and give you a big smile. She is friendly, sweet and very observant. She walks well on a leash, loves treats, and takes them gently. She is a beauty and dreams of finding her own loving family that can provide her a secured backyard to run and play in, but most importantly live indoors and cuddle close to her human companions. She didn’t show any interest in the other dogs that were barking at her, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home to please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. Come meet this shining star of a pup as she will charm you just as she has me.

Story
Let me introduce you to Dakota, one of our newer residents at the Mesquite Animal Shelter picked up by one of our officers on 6/3. He weighs 60 pounds, is about 3 years old and is neutered. He is an Australian Kelpie mix. He is a stunningly attractive fellow with standup ears, a beautiful coat, and clear blue eyes. He knows the sit and paw commands. He will sit for treats and takes them politely. He showed off his athleticism by nimbly climbing up on our play equipment. He spent some time with his nose to the ground, checking out all the fascinating smells in the yard. He chased but did not return the tennis balls I threw. He is lively, spunky, and a happy-go-lucky boy. He has an outgoing and confident personality. Being a herding breed, he tries to herd the person who is walking him. This could be an issue if adopted into a family with very small children. He is a very likable boy and highly adoptable. Dakota is friendly and was happy for me to pet his soft, silky fur that has a sheen to it! Will you consider helping him out of the shelter?
