Story
Hello Seamus! (pronounced Shamus) Seamus is a smooth tri collie approximately 6 years old and about 55 pounds. He came to HCR from a hoarding situation of neglect. He has come a long way with his foster mom learning trust and love. Seamus is happiest outside, running freely and barking greetings to neighboring kitties, kids, and doggies! His favorite place is chillin’ on the sofa. He can be a bit goofy playing with toys, and seeking attention and love with sweet little nose taps. He does well on a leash and short walks. He also enjoys car rides. Seamus’ perfect home would be a peaceful adult home with another calm playful dog to continue to give him confidence. Seamus loves other dogs and is just the sweetest boy! He is shy and will need a little patience and understanding to gain trust with his new owner. Seamus will make the right person a wonderful loving companion. Local adoptions only. Apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org. Texas applicants only.

Story
From Chip's foster mom: We helped take care of Bea’s litter as they were growing up, and my son and I often referred to the sable boys as “The Chipmunks”. So when Busy joined us - and his two sisters we had adopted - we started calling him Chip! Chip was born May 6, 2024. He is 50% Australian Cattle Dog, 25% collie and 25% a mix of other breeds. He is up to date on vaccines, HW negative and soon to be neutered and weighs around 40 lbs. Chip is a sweet, sensitive soul. It’s hard not to adopt him ourselves! He takes some time to warm up, but once he knows he is safe, he’s in your arms in no time. He enjoys sitting with us on the back porch and watching the other dogs play, observing the chickens, ducks, and goats in the back of the property, and taking it all in. He’ll also climb in our laps on the couch. He has been started on loose leash walking and basic manners. He is very food motivated, and loves to carry around toys. Chip is willing to try new things, with lots of encouragement and a slow, steady pace. He is crate trained, and only takes a short time to settle in. He does need to eat his dinner out of a slow feeder bowl otherwise he is quite the fast eater! He has started getting accustomed to having his nails dremeled when on the grooming table. Chip would do best in a home with a confident but friendly and mild mannered dog (male or female), or be the only dog. He has a tendency to want all of the attention to himself and has occasionally let the other dogs in his foster home know that he wants left alone while he gets attention. I would not suggest he be around cats or small animals, as he has shown quite an interest in our Chinchilla and the outdoor cats. I would recommend him with kids over 10, as he will jump to get attention (we’re still working on that!) and his nervousness in new situations. When he gets nervous he just belly flops or “puts on the brakes”. He is motivated to move by positive words and especially tidbits of food. Chip doesn’t love car rides since he still gets a little carsick, but if his human is going - I’m sure he’d be happy to tag along to quiet places. Chip is looking forward to settling in with his lifelong family! Will this sweetheart be your match? Apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org

Introducing Bug! Bug is one of a litter of 14! Houston Collie Rescue saved Momma Bea giving her a safe and comfortable foster home to have her pups and raise them. DNA was performed and Mamma Beatrice is 50% collie and daddy was 100% Australian Cattle Dog. Bug is so handsome with beautiful coloring and markings. Born 5/6/2024, Bug is at the perfect age to join a loving family. Bursting with curiosity and energy, Bug loves exploring the world and learning new things. So very smart and eager to please! Bug trains easily and picks up on commands quickly. Bug loves playing with toys, running around the yard, and lounging with his foster mom soaking up the cuddles. Bug also is quite talkative and enjoys conversations (see video)! Foster mom has 2 words to describe this boy: goofy clown! You’re sure to fall in love! Apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org

Story
Biscuit! Here is your new best friend! Biscuit is a big, friendly, goofy collie mix, around 10 months old, 60 lbs, and healthy. Biscuit loves people & attention and wants to follow you around, be petted and cuddled. He loves to sleep on your lap – a real lap dog! He is great with meeting new dogs and has good doggie manners. Biscuit can be a bit clumsy and just doesn’t know how big he is! If you have kids, they should be familiar with a larger dog. Biscuit is learning his manners and basic obedience, walks nicely on a leash, rides in a car, kennel trained, housebroken, and uses a doggie door. He would do best in a family with other pets or kids, but he can be adopted as an only dog if his people are able to spend time with him. He will not do well being left alone for hours. Biscuit is very smart, rarely barks, learns quickly, and is very sensitive to corrections. We do not have cats in the house, but we expect Biscuit will get along well with them based on his sisters (Breeze and Bonnie) who were recently adopted. If Biscuit is your guy, apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org!
