Story
Meet Buck! Buck came into the shelter August 31st, found running loose with another dog outside of Alpine City limits. He was adopted but has sense returned to the shelter, to no fault of his own. Buck gets along with other dogs and has done well in play group. He seems indifferent with cats, there may need to be a safe introduction with cats and him in a new home, we don’t think he knows what they are yet!Buck is shy around new people but once he gets to know you, he is oh so happy to see you! Buck is great on a leash and enjoys going on walks with our staff and volunteers. Buck had some time to learn potty training in his last home so he should be fairly easy to train in a new home. One of our staff members said their favorite characteristic is that Buck is energetic and goofy. Come meet Buck at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830. Story
Meet Mavis!Mavis came into the shelter with her buddy Bruno on December 13th after being surrendered by their family who were moving and could not take them.We are still waiting for her to heal from her spay but as soon as she does, we will introduce her to other dogs. She does great with her giant brother Bruno though.Mavis is still learning not to pull when she is walking on a leash but does love to go for a walk with us. She also seems to be potty trained, she tends to wait for her turn in the yard. She loves to play in the water so if you are one to visit a lake, you better bet she is going to make a splash! Mavis loves any and all treats, especially her peanut butter kong at night. How can you resist that cute smile? Come meet Mavis today at the Alpine Anim animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Story
Porky came into the shelter January 27th, originally found abandoned in the Country Club estates but caught days later in the city limits of Alpine, TX. He was found with his buddy Sweetie who we actually caught a week prior to catching him, he was so scared and was not excited about coming with us every time we came out to help him. The dogs also had porcupine quills in their face, it was an urgent rescue for them both. We were not sure if Porky would every warmup to us due to the chase, he sent us on for 2 straight weeks but, within a day, with his quills removed and with a belly full of food, this guy was ready to make new friends. He has done well with kids and is very gentle with them. He can be a little shy with brand new people but will come around fairly quickly with the incentive of a delicious treat. He walks great on a leash and with volunteers. Porky seems to be potty trained; he will wait for his turn in the yard. He also seems very motivated to learn new tricks. Our staff say that Porky is a very sweet and happy boy who is always ready to greet you with a hug. Come meet Porky today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Story
Leo came into the shelter July 31st, found as a stray. Over 2 weeks later an owner surfaced but due to their past history with pets and financial issues, we convinced them to allow us to try and find a home for Leo through us instead. Leo has done very well in playgroups with other dogs. He loves to play. He seems a little shy at first, with people, but definitely warms up quickly. He walks really well on a leash and seems to be fairly potty trained; he keeps his kennel clean as long as he gets his potty breaks. One of our staff members stated that their favorite characteristics about Leo are his beautiful coat and his quirky personality.Come meet Leo at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter today, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.
