Story
Meet Paul Newman! This little heartthrob is as sweet as he is adorable. Paul Newman is ready for the good life; a loving home with a family to call his own. Can you believe someone dumped this little fellow, along with his two brothers way out in the country, thrown out like trash. Luckily, the brothers found their way to the home of a Good Samaritan who reached out to us asking if we rescue the pus...of course we said YES. Paul Newman is ready for his FOREVER HOME. Is that you? If you are interested, please contact us by email at cox_ann@bellsouth.net

Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
We rescued Sidney from a horrific shelter in Memphis, TN. When we got him, he was skin and bones and had some barrier aggression issues (who knows what horrors he suffered there) It didn't take long for Sidney to realize he was now safe and could start letting down his guard. Sidney Poitier has filled out and is truly a stunning dog. Sidney is about 2 years old, and is at his healthy weight of 80 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he show absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system) He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention If you are interested in Sidney Poitier, email cox_ann@bellsouth.net for an application

Story
Arlo is an incredibly friendly goofy Bordie Collie/Hound mix that hasn't met a stranger! He is just a people LOVER and will give you ALL the kisses, but he is selective on his doggo friends and prefers older, quiet more submissive dogs but would really do best as the only dog in a home because he just wants to shower you with all the love. We have also learned while with his foster that Arlo can adapt to a cat in the home if his humans are nice and patient with the process-YAY Arlo! Like many of us hoomans, Arlo does suffer from Anxiety. What this means for Arlo is that he likes to stick close to his people and give them all the love in the world, he likes his things that he deems high value and isn't a good sharer so needs his own space to play with his toys, eat his food, chow down on his yummy Kongs or likes his own bed (he LOVES his crate-it's Arlo's safe space when the world is too much). Arlo does take medication for his Anxiety and this may be something he needs for life to give him an extra hand, just like a lot of us! The poor guy can also be very anxious in storms which can happen to a lot of us-and we get some doozies here in Nashville! Whew! Arlo does LOOOOVE his people so he would do great as the only dog in a home so he could soak up all the love in the world-which he of course deserves! You couldn't find a sweeter boy anywhere and he is definitely a Bonaparte's team member fave because of his love of all of the snuggles! He is also so incredibly smart and learns VERY quickly so the sky is the limit with Arlo!!! He loves to go on outings and adventures and does great in the car and is just a lovable sweetheart to all people! While with his foster we have discovered that Arlo loves to do zoomies, he loves a good, long, car trip so would be a great travel companion, and settle fairly easily in to a home environment!November 4, 2024, 1:26 pm

Story
Waylon is an absolute DREAM of a dog, really just the perfect boy! He does great with kids, does amazing in a home, is housebroken, crate trained, does great in a car, LOVES to be active and play and go on both runs and walks with his fosters, is super smart so easy to train, loves to snuggle and will calmly hang out with you while you work or watch TV, and is just the best boy! He seems really eager to be around other dogs so we don't see why he couldn't have dog buddies to play with! He is 100% joy and will be excited to see you every time you come home...and his fosters are working on trying to temper that pure joy that causes him to jump in happiness, but it always comes from a place of love and light! The struggles that Waylon has are purely medical but we have come to a plateau where with a great regimen of his medications, his diagnosis of Perennial Fistula Disease is easy to manage. And the nice thing is he takes his medications great! He does have to have an ointment on his rear, and does take some other oral meds, but he takes them very well. His condition also does require him to be on a very regimented diet that cannot be strayed from but Bonaparte's Retreat is more than happy to continue paying for his meds and his food because we definitely don't want that to be a deterrent for this perfect boy to find a home. He does require someone who can monitor his poops because they do need to be monitored, but he poops great on a walk which makes it easy to monitor! He also does need to be with a family that can strictly monitor his diet and not allow him to counter surf but he eats his special food great! We really can't speak more highly about Waylon and he would make some active family or single person an amazing BFFAugust 27, 2024, 11:44 am

Carolina Dog Basenji

Story
Dexter is the youngest 14 year old dog we have ever seen!!! It is UNBELIEVABLE that this guy is 14 years old!!! He seems to have full eyesight and full hearing and loves to do zoomies and does great on the leash so we completely think this guy would still be great to be active and go on walks and hikes with you! He doesn't seem to have any arthritis and does great in a car and is a snuggler and loves to be around you but also seems cool to chill on his own. He seems ok with calmer dogs with a more chill vibe and the more energetic ones seem to be more stressful for him but a meet & greet should hopefully help us figure that out. He would also do great as the only dog in a home. In a home he is barely even vocal! He also seems ok with cats and is potty trained! What a good good boy!November 4, 2024, 1:26 pm
