Story
Oh, Nyx....where do I begin. This girl is a special one! She came to us when our vet asked us to take in a special needs puppy. Nyx was born with hydrocephalus and the breeder didn't want her so she surrendered Nyx to our vet. Her hydrocephalus doesn't affect her health in any way now but we believe it has affected her personality. Nyx is a very special girl who will need a VERY special adopter. One who is patient and calm and willing to accept Nyx for who she is! Nyx wants affection on her terms but will run from you if you try to pick her up. You have to go low and slow so she won't run from you. Nyx will HAVE to have a fenced in yard for that very reason - if she got out you probably wouldn't get her to come back to you. Nyx likes other dogs but doesn't really know how to play with them and can mean to them when she's just trying to get them to play. We think all of her quirks are a direct result of her hydrocephalus. She can be so loving, but she is definitely a quirky one! Nyx will do best with older children or a quiet household. If you are the unicorn adopter we are looking for - who is willing to accept Nyx for who she is - please fill out our application at www.goofyfootrescue.org Nyx is in foster care in West TN and will be transported once her adoption is finalized.

Story
Duke is approximately 1 year old. My son found him when he was a puppy. He is moving and needs to find a good home for him. Duke is very smart. He knows the basic commands of sit and shake but follows and catches on to directions quickly. He has been with me for about two weeks and gets along great with my two dogs. He loves to play fetch and makes up his own games with his stuffed animals. He was brought up on a leash but is currently enjoying the freedom of my large fenced in back yard. He uses our doggy door and is house trained. He loves snuggling and attention. He is not crate trained. He loves children. He has been cat tested. He really needs a family or individual that has time to play and show him the love he deserves.

Story
Manny is an estimated 8-10 year old Frenchton that weighs about 25lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Manny is great dog! If you are looking for a shadow, he is your guy! He loves to snuggle on the couch and relax – he is not a dog bed kind of dog.  His age does not slow him down! He still has a manageable amount of energy and gets around great! Takes little effort for him to jump on the couch or beds! He LOVES to go on walks and be outside. He would best in a house with a yard so he can chase squirrels and birds, although he is probably not quick enough to catch any He does pull slightly on a leash, especially when he sees other dogs or a critter, so paying attention while on walks is a must. We recommend a using a regular leash for him, not a retractable. He loves his harness, and that has helped while on walks to settle him down (he gets so excited seeing other dogs). He's a great eater and loves scrambled eggs on the weekend. He knows basic commands like "sit' and "stay". He is very smart and loves a treat! Due to some previous trauma, he does NOT like being crated or being picked up. But that does not stop him from cuddling with you. He has done well around other dogs for the most part, but it is case by case so recommending a home with no other dogs or young children. Since being in foster care, Manny has done well with house training and can go about 6 hours or so without having an accident. At night, he sleeps under the bed, or on top of the covers on the bed. Occasionally, the boston in him comes out and he wants under the covers :)  Manny loves being with his people, and will sometimes bark or cry for a bit when left alone. He would do best in a home where he can go with you everywhere or you are home often. He loves car rides, but definitely either restrain him or have the windows on child lock. He loves to move and look out the window! Manny would make a great companion for someone who works from home and/or is home often or can take him to work. He loves to curl up at your feet while you work. He is so great and loving and has lots of love to give! If you would like to give Manny his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $250. He is being fostered in Nashville, TN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Story
Duke is a 4 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 25lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. ONLY FEMALE APPLICANTS WITH NO OTHER PETS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR DUKE. SEE BELOW.Duke came into rescue from an abandonment and abusive situation. Because of that, he has triggers, so it is essential we find him the right home where he can thrive. He can become triggered when someone messes with his neck, like to put on a leash or harness. His foster mom has made lots of progress with him, teaching him that leashes/harnesses are associated with positive things like walks and treats, but his adopter will have to understand that it may take lots of patience and understanding to gain Duke's trust. A fenced in yard would be great for Duke, so he doesn't have to be leashed daily. Because Duke is slow to trust, vet visiits are not one of his favorites. Duke seems to favor women over men, so he is looking for a home where he can be the "only man in the house". Because Duke was abandoned and likely didnt have access to food for a prolonged period of time, he can be aggressive when it comes to food. Because of this, Duke needs to be the only pet in the home and in a home without children. Duke is such a handsome boy, and once he warms up to you, he is a such a fun dog with the perfect amount of energy. He can be playful and silly, but also enjoys downtime and long naps. He loves to snuggle under the covers, play with his toys(especially his dinosaur), car rides, and going for walks. He loves to be with people. He is crate trained. Duke continues to make progress everyday, and we want an adopter for him that is willing to commit to him, be mindful and underdstanding of things that trigger him, and give him the good life he deserves!  If you would like to give Duke his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $350. He is being fostered in Memphis, TN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com.
