I’m a sweet, playful girl who’s always ready for action. Got an active lifestyle? Perfect. I’m your built-in adventure buddy. Walks? Yes! Hikes? Absolutely! Exploring the great outdoors? Let’s go! I love people of all ages and am happiest when I’m part of the fun. I also get along well with other dogs, so I’d be happy to have a canine sibling. Cats, though? Let’s just say we respectfully prefer separate friend groups. 🐱🚫 I am currently at the PAWS training program here in Yankton where I am learning my manners and commands. Full disclosure: I’m partially house trained and still polishing up my skills. I’m a bubbly 2-year-old boy who made my way to Heartland Humane Society for doggy school—and guess what? I graduated in February with flying colors! I’ve mastered all the basics: leash walking, essential commands, and how to be a polite pup around strangers, new friends, and fellow animals. I’m a quick learner and love to show off my good manners! When new folks come to visit me, they always comment on how calm and composed I am indoors. I can patiently wait for my humans to be ready—no jumping or whining, just good-boy vibes. But don’t let my calm side fool you—outside, I’m playful, energetic, and love a good romp around! Whether it’s fetch, tug, or a zoomie-filled play session, I’m all in. I’m tall, lanky, and (according to the staff) ridiculously handsome. I get along great with other dogs too! Meet Daxx! 🐾 Hi there! My name is Daxx, and I’m a 10-month-old Catahoula Leopard Dog/Lab mix on the hunt for my forever family here at Heartland. I’m a happy, social, and friendly guy who loves people of all ages. Whether you're tall, small, or somewhere in between, chances are I’ll want to say hello and be your new best friend. I also enjoy hanging out with my fellow canine buddies, but I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not quite sure what I think about them. When it comes to fun, I’m all in! My favorite activities include: Going on walks Swimming Car rides Playing and adventuring I’ve got plenty of energy, so if you enjoy an active lifestyle, I’d make an awesome sidekick for hiking trails, lake days, road trips, and all the adventures life has to offer. The good news? I’ve already been to training and know some command. I'm also currently enrolled in the SPOT training program, so am perfecting skills I had learned when I was younger and learning some new cues and manners. Hey! I’m Dizzy! I’m a 1-year-old mixed breed gal waiting patiently for my forever family to come scoop me up. I’m a sweet girl who loves humans of all ages, and I’ve got lots of energy to share—so if you’re an active family, we might be a perfect match! Walks? Yes please. Runs? Even better. Adventures of all kinds? Sign me up! I do get a little shy when meeting new people, but don’t worry—I warm up quickly once I realize you’re a friend. After playtime is over, I’m more than happy to settle in for a good cuddle session. I’ve lived with both dogs and cats. I can be a bit selective with my canine friends, but I coexist well with cats. I like kids too! Bonus points: I’m house trained, have used a doggy door, and have enjoyed playing in a fenced-in yard like a pro.
