DELIGHTFUL DELILAH! If you’re looking for a calm, quiet dog that makes no demands, Delilah may be the dog for you. This affectionate boxer/English bulldog mix is 11 years old but still has a lot of life to live and a lot of love to give. She enjoys walks on leash, a ramble around the yard, a few minutes of fetch or tug of war, rides in the car and – most of all – lounging on the couch or snoozing at your feet. She's good with the other dogs here, too.  Health-wise, Delilah is in great condition. She had a veterinary exam in October, comprehensive bloodwork in August (all results normal) and is up to date on her vaccines, 4 DX test and heartworm prevention.  Delilah’s adoption fee is just $100 so what are you waiting for? Please email us for more information on Delilah or for our application if you would like to welcome this sweetheart into your home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 6:41 pm

Story
Meet Rufus, a 3-year-old German shepherd mix with a big heart and even bigger energy. At 70 pounds, he’s a strong, athletic boy who’s ready to take on life with an active, committed family. Rufus is friendly, social, and very enthusiastic about people and the world around him. He needs work on basic commands like “come,” “sit” and “down” but, with structure and positive reinforcement, Rufus will blossom into a fantastic companion. Because of his high energy, Rufus will do best with active adopters who can provide plenty of daily exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. Although he will sit with you on the sofa, he’s not a couch-potato. He’s looking for someone who enjoys hiking, running or similar activities that let him stretch his legs and satisfy his desire to explore.  If you’re searching for a loyal, energetic partner who will thrive with guidance and attention, Rufus might be your perfect match. He’s ready to put his whole heart into a home that’s ready to do the same.  Rufus is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and has completed treatment and recovery for heartworms. His adoption fee is $200 which includes six months of heartworm prevention. We offer a three-week trial adoption period and will refund a dog’s adoption fee if it is returned within that period. Story
Just 9 months old, Jelly Bean is as irresistible as the candy she’s named for. This darling girl has a gentle, easygoing nature that makes her the ultimate companion. Friendly, affectionate and calm, she’s the kind of pup who’s just happy to be by your side—whether that’s a walk around the yard, a lazy afternoon on the couch, or anything in between. Jelly Bean is already crate-trained, fairly reliably house trained and does pretty well on leash. She settled right in with the pack at Save the Strays, so if you already have a dog at home, she’s ready to make a new best friend. 'Miss Bean' is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready to start her next chapter. Her $200 adoption fee even includes six months of heartworm prevention—one less thing to worry about. Sweet, steady and loving, Jelly Bean is ready to make your house feel even more like home. Think Jelly Bean might be your perfect match? Email info @ savethestrays.org to request an application. We offer a three-week trial adoption period, so you can be sure she’s the right fit for you. Story
Meet Freya, a 9-month-old Belgian Malinois mix with a big personality and a zest for life. Friendly, affectionate, and genuinely happy to meet everyone she encounters, Freya is full of youthful energy and always ready to play. Freya is still very much a puppy and will benefit from guidance and structure in her new home to help her learn boundaries, polish her manners, and channel her enthusiasm. Enrolling her in a puppy training class would be a great start. She’s not yet fully house-trained and is still in her chewing phase, so patience and consistency will be important. With positive training and engagement, Freya will grow into the devoted, fun-loving companion that exemplifies her breed. Freya would do best in a home with active adults and/or older children who can keep up with her. She enjoys playing with other dogs, though her exuberance can be a bit much for smaller pups. Freya currently weighs 25 pounds and will likely reach 35 to 45 pounds when mature. She’s spayed, fully vaccinated, healthy, and heartworm-negative. Her adoption fee is $200, which includes six months of heartworm prevention. If you would like to make this outgoing pup a part of your family, email us for an application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 6:41 pm

Story
Meet Gilley (short for Gillian), one of Save the Strays' long-term residents. At 9 years young, Gilley still has a lot of pep in her step. Although she enjoys a good romp in the yard and barking at the squirrels, she's also quite happy to just hang out, get a belly rub and take a nap at your feet. She goes absolutely crazy when she gets a toy - but she destroys most of them in 10 minutes or less. Because Gilley has been here so long (since 2018) she won't be a 'plug and play' adoption. She’s been living in a rural environment with one woman and very few visitors, so she'll definitely need time to adjust to a new home and adopter(s). She's nervous outside of her home environment (e.g., the vet’s office), but calm and submissive. Still, she should be introduced to new sights, sounds and people in small doses. Gilley’s good with other dogs once she gets to know them but would be quite happy as an only dog. Her ideal placement would be a quiet home with one or two adults where she’s either the only dog or there's only one other laid-back dog of similar size. If you're someone who has a heart for the 'underdog' and can give Gilley time, space and understanding to let her relax and adjust, you might be pleasantly surprised at the result. Once she knows you, she's incredibly loyal and gives and receives affection freely. Gilley's adoption fee is $200. We offer a three-week trial adoption period and will refund a dog’s adoption fee if it is returned within that period.
