Story
Molly has been waiting for some time now for the right adopter to come along, and we would really love to see her in a home of her own soon. This pretty Shiba Inu / Husky mix with the gorgeous blue eyes is about 4 years old and weighs in at a little under 50 pounds. She’s a friendly, energetic dog, and bonds well with her people. Here is what we’re looking for in her ideal adopter: EXPERIENCE: Molly needs an experienced adopter, ideally with Husky type dogs. She is not suitable for a first-time dog owner. Children need to be dog-savvy, and at least 14 years of age. ACTIVE LIFESTYLE: Molly is a high energy dog. She loves being outdoors, and would make a great hiking or running companion. FENCED BACKYARD: A safe area for training, playing, zoomies, and that last bathroom break before bed is a must. Molly would not be suitable for apartment life, and no dog parks please. OTHER PETS: Molly would be fine as an only dog as she can be a bit “in-your-face” when meeting other canines. She might enjoy being with a playful well-rounded male dog, but definitely no cats please. If you can check everything off on our wish list, please complete an adoption questionnaire at www.kikodogrescue.ca. Molly would love to hear from you! Due to the high volume of emails and messages we receive, we are unfortunately unable to respond to everyone, but thank you for your interest. All Kiko dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed and tested for heartworm (if deemed necessary), microchipped, sterilized, and require an adoption fee of $475 and an adoption contract. Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Our 50-pound, 4.5-year-old Schnauzer mix River is extremely loving and affectionate with his own people, but it’s a different story with visitors. Negative behaviour was created as a result of having been put in a room when visitors arrived. Because of this, River needs an experienced adopter who is prepared to work with him with a basket muzzle to help manage and overcome this reaction when people visit his home. LIFESTYLE: River needs a calm single or couple with a quiet lifestyle and few visitors. A semi-rural or rural environment would suit him best. River would not be suitable for apartment life, and no dog parks or children please. ACTIVE: River is playful and moderately active. He enjoys walks when there is not a lot going on around him, but responds well to redirection and positive reinforcement. OTHER PETS: River would be fine as an only dog, but a well-behaved female canine role model may be beneficial. Don’t be fooled by River’s cuteness. He needs a dedicated pack leader to show him the way. If that sounds like you, a very loving companion awaits. If you are interested in offering River a forever home, we ask that you please visit us at www.kikodogrescue.ca to fill out an adoption questionnaire. All Kiko dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed and tested for heartworm (if deemed necessary), microchipped, sterilized, and require an adoption fee of $475 and an adoption contract. Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Introducing Kiko’s latest arrival! Whiskey is a friendly mix who narrowly escaped euthanasia at a full shelter. There’s lots of life and love in this happy 6-year-old’s future! Whiskey is a healthy boy, and weighs about 70 pounds. His tail never stopped wagging when he met his foster dad, and was asking for belly rubs in no time! Whiskey is housetrained, sociable with hoomans and other pooches, not destructive when left alone, and is easy to live with. He’s affectionate and playful but his energy needs are not high, as he also enjoys chilling out and being a couch potato. Whiskey would prefer an adult home, or one with older children, and no cats please. He’s not a barker, and would be suitable for either an apartment or a home. If Whiskey sounds like the companion you’ve been looking for, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at www.kikodogrescue.ca. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to us. Whiskey’s foster home is in Laval, Quebec.

Story
Meet Moe. We were so happy the day he came into our care because we knew his life was going to be so much better than it had been in the past. You see, Moe lived with a family who didn't let him stay in the house. He slept in the garage and that's no life for a dog! When that family couldn't care for him anymore he was given to another family. They had an apartment and Moe barked at the noises he heard and people he could see out the window. This was all new to him! His new family didn't like it when he barked and they asked if we could take him in. We weren't really sure what he would be like but we opened our hearts and home and brought him into SPIN.

Story
Olympia is a 9-year-old Doberman mix that was rescued from the streets in Mexico after she had been hit by a car! She has since healed completely but remains shy, independent and reserved. She would do best in a calmer household and loves other dogs but should be in a home without cats or children. She is a very sweet girl just looking for her person/people after not having the best of luck with humans in her past. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!

Story
My name is Xolo, I’m an almost 3 year old boxer mix who was born in a shelter in Mexico and have spent my whole life there with all of my siblings and 60 other dogs so I’m more comfortable with dogs than with people. I would do best in a home with only women as men's voices and presence scare me. But that’s my past, let me tell you about my present! I currently live in a Foster home with two other dogs and have lived with a few others as well. I’m great with other dogs and am Extremely submissive, but if the dog is smaller than me, they need to put me in my place, or I can try to push my limits with them. I’m looking for someone to help me get over my severe fear of people; if I know and trust you, I’m putty in your hands, but if you’re new to me you’re automatically scary. I’m still uncomfortable with the man I live with and would do best in a home with only women if possible. I shouldn’t be in a home with any children as I’m terrified of people in general, but children and their unpredictability in particular. I’m known as being the joker of the house and they call me Mr. Wiggle Butt sometimes; can you guess why? I’m smiling all of the time and I can wag my tail from side to side, ambidextrously, or like a helicopter. I’m exceptionally intelligent and have picked up many tricks quickly and in a short amount of time. I need to live with other animals; dogs in particular, but I can live with cats as well. I would like to live with a dog that can teach me the ropes and show me that humans aren’t so bad after all; like my very own support dog. I’m skittish at first, so I need to be in a home with a securely fenced yard, as you may not be able to touch me much in the beginning. I do best wearing a harness and leash at all times at first, so that you can get a hold of me without having to chase me. I’m looking for a family that has the patience to give me the time to come out of my shell, but also push me outside of my comfort zone. I love taking walks and that helps me trust you, but I need to be walked with a harness and double leashed; to be sure I can’t get away, even if I become terrified. I love to play a game my foster Mom calls “Got your nose”; but in my version I will put your entire nose in my mouth lol. I loooooooove giving kisses, I’ll lick your hand, face, feet, pants, socks, you name it, I have been told I have very limited personal boundaries. I also like to “boop” you with my snout and sometimes you may be startled with a boop in your behind, because that’s how I say “hi, I’m happy to see you, pay attention to me”. All of our rescue dogs are vaccinated, sterilized, microchipped and de-wormed.
