Story
Emmett is a small, senior dog with a big personality and a strong sense of independence. He’s looking for a calm, adult-only home where he can feel safe and respected. Emmett does not like to be handled or picked up, so his ideal adopter will be someone who understands his boundaries and can give him the space he needs to thrive. While Emmett lives with other dogs, he isn’t interested in close canine relationships and prefers to keep his distance. He would do best as an only pet. A securely fenced yard is essential for this independent pup, giving him a safe place to explore and decompress. Emmett is potty trained but may mark in the house if another dog isn’t fully housebroken. He’s great on a leash and enjoys slow, steady walks, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a relaxed pace. Emmett’s favorite activities include burrowing under blankets, playing with anything that squeaks, relaxing in his crate, and occasionally curling up nearby when he feels ready for affection. Emmett does have advanced dental disease, which cannot be treated surgically due to his grade 4 heart murmur. He is on lifetime medication to manage his condition, and his adopter will need to be committed to ongoing care. Despite these challenges, Emmett is full of spunk and ready to enjoy his golden years in a loving home. If you’re an experienced dog owner with a calm, patient home, no other pets, and a securely fenced yard, Emmett could be the perfect match. He’s neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to find his forever family. Apply today to give this special senior the understanding and comfort he deserves!

Story
Meet Sweetie - AGAIN!! Sweetie is a beautiful 8 1/2 month old, 16lb cavapoo puppy who came to us by way of ACCT Philly back in August. She was purchased on a well known Lancaster puppy site by a family in Philly who we assume had good intentions. Unfortunately, Sweetie was surrendered to ACCT with a broken tibia bone in her leg (that happened 3 days prior) and no explanation. We couldn't say no when ACCT reached out for help and thanks to our amazing village we were able to have her leg surgically repaired. Sweetie’s leg healed beautifully and she was adopted in early October and then returned in late November. Essentially, the family wasn’t prepared to handle the antics of a puppy. Named Sweetie because she is exactly that. There's no better word to describe her. This little one's tail hasn't stopped wagging since the minute we met her. She is the sweetest little love. Sweet Potato would fit well in most households. She's a busy girl and would love a playful canine sibling or an active family. She LOVES to run, run, run in her foster's fenced in yard. It’s literally her favorite thing to do so we are requiring a fenced in yard for her. We know this is upsetting to some, but Sweetie has been failed by her humans twice now, we’re not going to let that happen again. A fenced in yard is what’s best for Sweetie. We’re not willing to bend here. Sweets had regressed slightly with housebreaking since returning to foster care. She’s back on track and has been doing great – although regression is common with a change of environment. She walks well on a leash, has great recall, is crate trained, knows "sit” and "crate” and is working on "stay” - she is one smart pie and would absolutely THRIVE with continued training! Sweetie is UTD on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and on preventatives. She is living in Levittown, PA with 2 bichons and a big pittie and she gets along beautifully with all. If Sweetie sounds like she'd be a great addition to your family and you're willing to love her for life - please submit an application today. If you previously applied for Sweetie and would still like to be considered, please send us a message. *Please note: A separate meet and greet with potential adopters and all resident pets is required prior to final approval. Story
Hi, I'm Dax and I am a 5 month old male Bichon. I came to Zoe's House from a commercial breeder when I became too old to sell. I am very playful but I am still a bit nervous when the foster people try to pet me. I want attention and love. I just am not used to it yet. I love playing with the other dogs here running around and chasing each other. I am crate trained and see my crate as a safe place since I sleep and eat in my crate. I run right into it on my own. I am working on housebreaking as this is all new to me. I need a family who will be patient with me as I continue to grow and learn how to be a puppy. I do like to jump up on people when I'm excited. So, no very small children for me. Kids over 4 should be fine. I require a fenced in yard since I love to run and jump and another dog in the home to play with so that I can keep learning about being in a house and how to be a dog. I am up to date on vaccines and am neutered already. I am being fostered in Schuylkill County so any potential adopters will have to travel to meet me. If you think that you can give me the love and patience that I need to be a happy pup, please apply at https://www.zoeshouserescue.com/adopt. Zoe's House Kennel #9117 Sinking Spring, PA 19608

Story
"Heya, I'm Havana! I am a 5 year old female boxer. I am a sweet, calm girl who enjoys lounging in the sunshine, cuddling up in a plush dog bed, and chowing down on some snacks! I am a little timid, but I also love to play! My foster mom says I am a silly goose, and I suppose that is pretty accurate! I'm very wiggly and happy. Before I came to Zoe's House Rescue, I lived in a commercial kennel. I missed out on getting that one on one attention early on, so being loved and doted on in my foster home is new to me. I think I quite like being treated like a princess! I would prefer my new home is all adults. I like women more than men. I do warm up if I'm given some time and patience. I like other dogs, and prefer male dogs as my companions. I could be the only dog in the home, or I would be happy to have furry siblings! I am comfortable with big and small dogs. I am spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and have been treated with monthly parasite preventatives. I recently had a dental cleaning, and some bad teeth removed. So far, I haven't had any potty accidents in my foster home. I am also crate trained. I would love to be your girl!" Havana is being fostered in Southern Lancaster County and interested adopters must come to her foster home twice. The first visit is a meet and greet with all the members of the household including existing dogs in the home. The second visit is to take her home. Go online to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application! We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder. Story
Eliza is a 4-year-old miniature dachshund with a unique blue coat and a gentle personality. She had a rough start in life as a commercial breeder dog, which left her with some hair loss on her ears and back. Despite this, her soft coat is beautiful and will benefit from regular grooming. Eliza is a sweet but very timid girl. She doesn’t enjoy being picked up or held and prefers to keep her distance from people. Her ideal home is quiet, low-energy, and without children. A securely fenced yard is preferred, as she’s still learning to trust humans and can be nervous in new situations. Though Eliza is reserved, there are a few things she loves—especially snuggling up in a warm coat or sweater and curling into a soft bed. These little comforts bring her the sense of security she needs. She does well on a leash and is curious about other calm, low-energy dogs. She’d do well with a relaxed canine companion or as the only dog in the home. She’s also comfortable around cats. Eliza is mostly potty trained, but she may have accidents if startled or picked up. Eliza needs patient adopters who will respect her boundaries and work with her at her pace. She’s spayed, had a dental, is up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to find a home where she can feel safe and secure. If you have a quiet home and the understanding to help Eliza come out of her shell, she could be the perfect match for you.
