Update: Lava is back from Jail and ready for an experienced and firm family. While she was up at the prison, Lava received basic obedience, leash, and crate training and is also housebroken. She is a very sweet and loyal, yet very intelligent girl, perhaps too much for her own good. Lava would definitely benefit from a home with strong structure that won't let her get away with any nonsense. Her handlers at the prison feel that she might need to be an only dog in the home and would be best without small children around. If you're an experienced adopter looking for a dog that might need a job, Lava Girl seems like the right fit. --- Lavagirl is ready to go go go! Lava is a smart girl in a petite package who is eager to show you what she knows and learn more. She would love someone who is active to be her new companion. Lava has beautiful form as she trots along beside her handler. She is neutral to others on her walks and has been good playing with some males. No female pals, small sassy dogs, or kitties for Lava, please. She wants to be the queen of the castle. Lava has high drive and is motivated by food as well as praise. She would be a great hobby sport dog or just an active companion.

Story
Meet Freya who needs your support and compassion! She is 8 months old (DOB 12/7/23), a SPECIAL NEEDS dog who will be up for adoption. Freya has an ectopic bladder, a congenital abnormality in dogs where the ureters, which carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder, don't connect to the bladder in the normal position. She does have issues with urine leakage, so I'm training her to wear panties. She will be having surgery for her condition (no date on that yet) & we are hopeful that it will correct the leaking, but it's no guarantee. Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue is asking for donations to help with Freya's surgery & care. If you would like to donate towards her surgery you can mail it to Char Wills German Shepherd Rescue, 2 E Railroad Ave, New Ringgold, PA 17960 (make a note it's for Freya's surgery)

Story
Kalis is a petite girl full of pep but wants you next to her. Full of energy and manageable at the same time because of her attachment to her person. It seems like Kalis is making progress, and it's great that the Trazodone is helping her become more relaxed and playful. Her behavior with the shadows and how she responds to redirection is a positive sign. It's also good that she gets along with other dogs on walks and enjoys her outdoor time. Regarding her interactions with the cat, it seems like her calmness around the cat is promising, and with more gradual introductions, the situation may improve over time. Separating them for now and managing those introductions carefully is a wise approach, especially since Kalis doesn't seem overly focused on the cat unless provoked. It's wonderful that she's generally well-behaved and enjoys her walks and playtime. Keep up the good work with her training and environment, and hopefully, over time, the shadow-chasing will lessen! If you are interested in meeting her please note she is in a foster home so make sure to let the office staff know when making your appt.

Update 2: Hello! I just left to go to the Prison Program today (10/30/24) and won't be back for 1 month. I'll let you guys know when I'm back and how good I was there, wish me luck! Update: This dynamic duo are a beautifully bonded pair of littermates born on February 25th. They have been in foster care with a trainer and have mastered the basics. It's time for their forever family to take over and complete their training. (Lifetime support in the Harrisburg area is available.) Coffee Girl is full of sass and energy, while Bagel Boy is the laziest puppy ever! They are both so sweet, eager to please, love to snuggle, and eat. They need to stay together, although they've been training separately, their bond is stronger than the attempts made to safely separate them. Not yet tested with kids, but they've been living and socializing with other dogs quite successfully. They don't seem to have much prey drive, but that could also just be a coincidence Once your application is approved, it will be forwarded to their foster mom/trainer who will then contact you for setting up a meet and greet. --- Charlie takes care of Twilight to some extent. Littermates with zero interaction, and doing better in spite of this. Charlie is the more forceful of the pair, but they will have to make their way forward as best they can. More as the days progress.

So far, gains are evident every day. They came from practically zero interactions, so far so good.
