Story
Hi friends!! My name is Abby, and I am a 5-year-old hound/lab mix. I came from North Carolina. I am a spunky girl and have so much love to give. I love running around the yard and playing fetch. I love the people here! In my first few days here, I have been soaking up as much attention from the caretakers as possible! I love pets and just hanging out with them. I don't love the New York winter so far. After a play session outside, I get pretty cold and want to nap in my warm bed. I keep quiet in the kennel and keep my space very clean. I would love to relax in a home with a family; it has to be much better than kennel life! I'm fairly mellow, but when I get going, I love to zoom! If you find me super cute, stop down to Stray Haven to meet me and give me some pets!Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays

Story
Hello! My name is Chevy and I am currently in a foster home. I would love to find someone to adopt me.If you'd like to meet me...Please call Stray Haven. (607) 565-2859Thank you! ChevyHey, it's Chevy here and I would like to tell you about myself. I have been in foster care for a few months now where I have learned a lot from my foster parents and their resident dog! I am good with kids, other dogs as long as a proper introduction is done, but unfortunately I don't want any kitty friends. I also am housebroken! I have all my vet care done, I am up to date on shots, microchipped, and spayed. I do know how to walk nicely on a leash plus I don't run off when I am on my foster family's property without a leash on. I respond to my name and I will sit and stay when asked. My foster mom also thinks I am not barky! I love car rides and being on the boat however I do not enjoy getting in the water. I enjoy getting up on the couch at my foster home however I settle down in my own bed. I am a very playful ball of energy who will give all the kisses you could ever want. Please call Stray Haven to set up a meet with me, I can't wait to meet my forever family!Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays

Story
Hello everyone, my name is Faye. I am looking for the perfect family. I came to Stray Haven in hopes that I would be able to make that happen. I am looking for a family that likes to go on hikes and be active. I am part hound, so I enjoy smelling all the smells around me. If you think you are the right family for me, please stop in and meet me......... UPDATE from one of our volunteers after spending some extended time with Faye."Faye slept all the way back to Stray Haven which she calls her temporary home. I think I can speak for Faye that she had a great time in her short stay with me and proved herself very ready for a permanent home. She went potty only outside except for a few tinkles when she got excited. She did not have free run of my house though, we worked on a win-win for both of us.She met a total of 5 new dog friends and was excited and playful with all of them. Bella, my 8yr old, did get a little grumpy with her puppiness and Faye learned to respect her elders. Her real BFF is Jeremiah and she outplayed him but they had loads of fun.She loves chasing balls and squeaky toys. Jeremiah isn't great about letting others get to the ball first but she kept up the game and outran him a couple of times. She doesn't bring the ball back but will let anyone take it out of her mouth for the next throw. She spent some time chilling in a crate and slept all night in the crate without a peep. She is hesitant about going in the crate but quickly learns that good things happen in there like breakfast, dinner, and treats. She does do a lot of pulling on a leash, I'm thinking a harness might work better for her. She's young and treat motivated so with some additional training she will get better. Faye gets very excited when meeting people and will jump, and if really excited she will give nips to your arm or sleeve. She got much better at this in the short time with me. She does know how to sit and if the person is consistent in not petting or giving attention until all 4 are on the ground she gets it.She loves loves loves people of all ages. She met children between ages 9-16 while here and loved everybody. She likes hugs and kisses and likes to give them back. We were all a bit sad that she was returning to the shelter but Jeremiah gave her a pep talk and explained that he had to wait many months for his forever home but it was worth the wait. Her perfect home is out there waiting to discover her.If you want more information or want to meet Faye for yourself contact Stray Haven Humane Society in Waverly, NY".Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays

Story
Hi, I'm Freddy, a three-year-old mixed breed. Sadly, my previous family couldn't take care of me anymore, so I came to Stray Haven. I'm a good boy who's still adjusting to the shelter environment. It can be intimidating for me, especially since I'm a bit shy and tend to keep to myself.Although I may not appear very sociable at the shelter, I'm optimistic that a kind and patient individual will give me a chance to get to know them. Once I establish a bond and feel at ease, I enjoy cuddling and engaging in playful activities. I'm a friendly and mild-mannered young fellow who simply requires some time to acclimate to unfamiliar surroundings and individuals.I'm looking for a loving home where I can feel safe and secure. Ideally, my new family will be able to give me plenty of attention, exercise, and positive reinforcement. With a little patience and understanding, I'll make a loyal and loving companion for someone out there.Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays
