Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ryker is a handsome, friendly, silly pitbull mix.  He came to us through no fault of his own--his owner was no longer able to care for him. Full of puppy energy, Ryker needs an active owner or family who will channel his energy and keep him mentally stimulated.  A fence is not required, but would be preferred as he really needs a place to run.  He walks nicely on a leash.  Wiggly and happy, Ryker just loves attention and is good with other dogs and kids.  His energy may be a lot for little children, but older kids who will play ball and take him for walks would be awesome. Ryker is neutered and updated with vaccines and is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Peppercorn is a very sweet, loving dog who forms a very strong bond with his human. He wants to be with you, and would do best in an active household that can provide him with a higher than normal level of physical and mental activity typically needed by his breed types. He loves fetch, walks, and toys. He is very intelligent and responsive to training, curious and adventurous. He knows, sit, stay, lay down, and 'give me paw'. Peppercorn would do best in a household of older children (12+) who are able to read his body language and respect his boundaries, as well as provide him with firm instructions/boundaries and stop play if Peppercorn becomes too rough. His adult owners should be confident leaders and breed savvy about the temperament, needs, and stubbornness of Jack Russells and Miniature Pinschers.  Peppercorn is a very energetic puppy who is still learning manners when it comes to playing with other dogs. He generally does well with other dogs of all breeds and sizes if he is thoroughly exercised and engaged, however if bored/understimulated he will challenge both dominant and submissive dogs for play or their toys. His play style can become rough, and he should not be left unsupervised with other dogs until he has fully integrated into the household and understands/respects other dogs' thresholds. His foster continues to work with him on this, and his new home should be prepared to continue exercises to help reduce or eliminate this behavior. Any introductions to other dogs and children should be done slowly and carefully by adults. Peppercorn had a lot of instability in his short life, and also suffered from skin and digestive irritation due to suspected fleas/mites and/or allergens. Being constantly in pain made him reactive toward other dogs, and his humans when they tried to treat him. Now that he has established trust with his foster, he allows his human to easily give him baths, clean his paws, trim nails, and so on. For his first initial vet visits, the vet should apply a muzzle. His paws should be kept clean at the end of the day as the cause of irritation to his paws could still be related to allergies. This is a very easy routine that Peppercorn has now come to love, and he will fall asleep in his human's lap.  Because of the instability and level of constant pain/discomfort Peppercorn suffered, aversive training tools or techniques like shock/e collars, prong collars, etc. should NOT be used as that will make him anxious, insecure, and reactive.  Peppercorn should be kept in a crate when his humans are not at home, and should be fed separately from other dogs to prevent any food guarding/aggression while he is settling into the home and establishing his place. Peppercorn generally ignores cats, but will chase if one runs. Peppercorn is learning recall but his prey drive for wildlife is high, and so should never be allowed off leash unless in a secure area.'Peppercorn is up to date with vaccines, and on monthly heartworm/flea/tick meds.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Saraph! This energetic sweetheart (born 10/1/21) loves rolling around in the grass under the sun at her foster home. This friendly girl is house trained and is working on building a positive association with her crate. She is good with other dogs and cats. Saraph thinks she is a small dog and loves to cuddle and try to sit in your lap. While she will play with toys, she prefers neck scratches and being as close to her owner as possible. Slow introductions are best when meeting smaller animals. Saraph has had a few experiences with children and appears to be gentle and patient with them.   In the morning, Saraph loves to speak. She will attempt to help with yardwork, keeping your grass down by munching on it. Always curious, Saraph enjoys sticking her nose in the air during car rides. Saraph is great on the leash and is working on not jumping at every squirrel that runs past. Saraph is food motivated and picks up on cues very quickly. This intelligent girl loves a good puzzle.  This girl has everything going for her with the proper time and attention!Saraph is not recommended for a home with children. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.COURTESY POST   Lilly finds herself needing a family to call her own.   She is about 4 years old.  She is a sweet, quiet girl who loves to play ball and go for car rides.  She was tested with another younger dog and did fine with him.  Her caretaker has not tested her with cats.  She appears to be an American Bulldog/Mix.    She is a bit chunky but she walks nicely on a leash so her weight could change with regular exercise.  Lilly is a velcro dog and chooses to be with her 'person'.   Her caretaker is looking for a home that will be kind to her as she does show signs that she has been mistreated in the past.   Althought Lilly is not in our program, we've agreed to help her caretaker by courtesy posting.  If you are interested in Lilly, please fill out an application and we will forward it to her caretaker.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Do you like a handsome shaggy dog with some serious character?  Do you love senior dogs?  Buddy may be the guy for you! He is a 13-year-old Lhasa with 23 pounds of more or less equal parts sweet and spunk.  His elderly owner was no longer able to care for him and his canine 'sister' (Malva) and they came to one of our foster families.  His 8 year old sister was adopted and Buddy is doing OK with the other little dogs in his foster home for company.   His hearing isnt great, he sleeps a lot, and with typical Lhasa-tude, he can be grouchy and grumbly sometimes, but does enjoy a belly rub from time to time. He'll let you know when.Buddy is available for adoption or for a sponsorship arrangement where Haven to Home maintains ownership and covers all costs for the remainder of Buddy's life.  Please contact haventohome if you would be interested in offering Buddy a loving home for his lifetime.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Miley Ann ALWAYS has a smile on HER face - and she will bring one to YOURS, too, if you make her part of your family.Miley transitioned easily into her foster home and from day one has wanted to be right by her foster parents’ sides.  As she has become more comfortable in her temporary home, she has shown her goofy side, too.  Miley loves, loves, loves toys  with her favorite being a simple tennis ball. While she is transitioning into her golden years, Miley loves going on walks with her people. Due to size and age, she tires after about 10 minutes so would much prefer a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood as opposed to trailblazing for the weekend. Some of Miley’s other favorite activities include: car rides, getting lots of belly rubs, and snuggling up on the couch with her humans. Miley is dog friendly but is more concerned with getting attention from her person rather than playing with a canine companion. She does have interest in cats but knows to give them space if needed. Miley has been exposed to children as young as two without issue and after a quick 'hello' proceeds to seek out attention from others. Miley is on the heavier side but is on a journey to a healthier lifestyle in her foster home. Her new home must be committed to helping her reach a healthier weight by providing a nutritious, lower calorie diet and moderate exercise. Already spayed, completely vetted, and on monthly flea/tick/heartwork preventatives, this sweet angel is all ready to find her retirement home!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet.
