Story

Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to the Pittsburgh area. Rooster resides with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Story

Clifford is mostly Chow. He weighs around 60 pounds and we estimate he is around 2 years old. He was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies and was rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is sweet, gentle, and good-natured. He especially loves puppies and gentle children. We do not know how he would do with cats. Clifford is a very good boy. He is crate-trained, sits on command, and walks well on a leash. Texas is extremely hot, and Clifford is happy to be in his crate inside the air-conditioned house. We are working on housetraining and he could probably use other gentle obedience training. Clifford rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting into the vehicle. He is shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. Clifford is sensitive and scared of mean voices, rough treatment, and dogs that are mean to him. We are sure he was not treated well by whoever had him before. Clifford needs to be treated gently so he will trust you. Once he trusts you or another dog, he becomes happy and playful. Clifford deserves a wonderful home. He must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and have a fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-free. He gets monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Clifford is ready to change his zip code. He is located in Texas but can be transported after he is adopted. Gucci is a lab/boxer mix, he is approx 6 months old and 22 lbs, he will probably be in the 40 to 50 lb range when fully grown. He is one of a litter of puppies rescued from a known dumping ground in Houston TX. Gucci is a typical puppy, he loves to run and play in the yard. Gucci gets along with the other rescue dogs. He is not yet fully house or leash/harness trained, but he is very smart and learns very quickly. He is a little on the shy side with people but will always run up for a treat! Gucci is a very handsome boy with beautiful markings and he has a very nice disposition. He will be a great family dog and companion. He would be a great dog for hiking or the dog park. Gucci must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and he must have a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Gucci is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Story

Buddy appears to be a Jack Russell Terrier/other terrier mix. He is around 1 year of age and weighs 24 pounds. He was found under a bridge in one of the local dumping areas. It is no surprise that Buddy was scared when we first got him, but he quickly warmed up. He loves getting attention from his people. He loves pets and being close to his humans. He loves belly rubs and will roll over on his back whenever you bend over to pick him up. Buddy is small but mighty. He is muscular and high-energy and requires exercise. He loves to run and wrestle with other dogs. Sometimes, he can be naughty and will intimidate one of our more submissive dogs. Yet he backs down when one of the chihuahuas or another dog puts him in his place. Buddy is generally a good boy, and training is a work in progress. He listens well and comes when called. He is crate-trained and fairly well-behaved in the house. We are working on teaching him manners. He gets jumpy when he wants attention and more training is needed. He responds well to "no" and the "tsch" correction (as used by Cesar Milan). It would be best if applicants have dog experience and are willing to hire a trainer if necessary. Buddy would love his new family to play with him, take him on walks, cuddle, and give him a lot of affection and belly rubs. Buddy must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and have a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Buddy is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Story

Gunner is a male black and tan hound mix around 3 years old and weighs around 50 pounds. Gunner was rescued from a rural small-town dog pound. Gunner is a good boy. He is crate-trained and goes into his crate when told. He obeys and comes when called. He rides well in a vehicle, sits for treats, and walks on a leash. He is good about baths. He is affectionate and loves human attention and petting. He loves toys, treats, and playing with other dogs. It is very hot here in Texas, and Gunner prefers to be inside and snoozing on the couch in the air conditioning. During the heat of the day, he will go out to potty and run, and wrestle with his friends for a short time but then he is ready to come back inside to cool off. Being a hound, Gunner exhibits some typical hound behaviors. He goes ballistic over squirrels in the trees. He barks at people walking down the street and other dogs and cats he sees in the neighborhood. He will counter-surf with his partners in crime. And if I forget to secure the cabinet with the baby lock he and the other dogs will open it and raid the garbage. Gunner is a typical goofy and happy hound. Gunner is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He has been treated for heartworms. He is now heartworm-negative and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gunner is available for adoption to approved applicants. He is located in Texas but can be transported after he is adopted. Baxter is a total doll. He and his sibling were dumped at our rescue...they are social and so sweet. Baxter is all puppy but he is ready to have you teach him how to be the best boy he can be. He is crate, and potty trained. His life took a little turn at Christmas time when he was stepped on by a cow (yes his fosters have cows :), he had a tail and pelvic injury that required his tail to be amputated and he had to recover. WELL he HAS recovered :) He still has nerve damage in the back leg ..he uses it occasionally but at times doesn't...this does not slow him down...his foster mom, Jodi can share more about this gorgeous boy!!!! He is ready for his furever home and boy will you LOVE this boy!! While he was recovering from his injuries he became the bestest pup you could imagine! Now he is looking for that forever home that will just love him for who he is!! ADOPT DON'T SHOP!!! SO MANY PUPS LIKE BAXTER's LIVES DEPEND ON IT!!!
