Story

After being spotted wandering around by himself, this handsome fella was brought to the rescue. Because his owners were never found, he is now available for adoption. Cinco is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and appears to be housebroken. He is believed to be a Husky/Beagle mix and is approximately 5 years old. Cinco enjoys walks, playing outside, and getting lots of love from volunteers. Cinco is a sweetheart, but he hates going back into his kennel and isn’t shy about letting us know. Cinco is looking for a home where he can be free to roam & not have to be crated when family is away and with no young children due to his strong-willed personality. Oftentimes, inappropriate behaviors, such as Cinco’s temper tantrums when returning to his kennel, diminish once a dog is settled in a home. Other than this quirk, he is a happy, loving pup that is ready to be someone’s loyal companion. Cinco is probably the most affectionate dog currently under our care. He absolutely loves giving kisses, getting attention, and making people smile. Story

Throwing your arms around Nero’s neck is like hugging a cloud! Nero, a Charmin soft, 7-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog who weighs in the 60 lb. range is neutered, up to date on his shots, and housebroken. Nero was initially surrendered to the shelter when his family moved to Texas. Aside from his plush coat and sea blue eyes, this strikingly handsome fellow is unique among shelter dogs because Nero is deaf. Nero can startle easily if you surprise him from behind (understandable because he can’t hear you coming), so Nero is looking for a quiet, calm home without children or cats. Living since birth in a world of silence, Nero has learned to “read” faces and body language. This smart, sensitive dude would be a whiz at training with a vibrating or “paging” collar. One look into Nero’s eyes is all it takes to see the gentle wisdom of this precious soul. In the animal rescue world, we know there are adopters reading this description who have experienced firsthand the joy of loving a special needs animal. Finster a young, male Pitt Bull brought to the rescue as a stray after he had been scratching at the door of a strangers home in the middle of the night looking for shelter. Sadly no one has come to claim Finster so he is now looking for his new forever home. Finster is a solid, strong, active boy who enjoys playing in the big yard. He has been friendly & cooperative with all the volunteers. Finster appears house trained and is now neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is looking for a family who will provide ongoing training and exercise to be content and happy and in return you will have a forever companion up for any adventure. Della, an approximately 1 year old, female Husky /Shepherd mix was surrendered to the rescue when owner was unable to keep her in his apartment any longer. Owner who had only had Della for 3 months reported she was house trained and knew the command "sit". It was only he & Della that lived in the apartment and when he had to leave she had a seperate room she would stay in till his return. Della is looking for a home where she can be free to roam & not have to be crated when family is away and with no young children due to her resouce guarding issues & strong-willed personality. Oftentimes, inappropriate behaviors, such as Della's temper tantrums when returning to her kennel, diminish once a dog is settled in a home. Della is an active, intelligent girl looking for a family that will prioritize training ( especially regarding resource issues), physical exercise, mental stimulation along with her general daily needs. Archie & Connor are 8 month old Rottweiler mix brothers. Archie is the “big” brother, currently weighing in at 62 lbs. Archie is the coppery color of morning sunshine. Connor is the midnight color of a clear, moonless night. Both brothers inherited the family tail: a question mark that curls over their backs. In their previous home, both dogs lived with children & other pets. They were surrendered to the rescue when their owner, who raised them from birth, could no longer afford their care. Archie’s name means “genuine or brave.” As dogs go, Archie truly is the “real deal.” He walks well on leash & is one of the “go to” dogs for introducing new dogs to the play yard & to doggie play groups. When he sees the other dogs tugging & chewing on his brother Connor’s ears, belly & tail, Archie will bravely make them stop by using his snout to gently bat the other dogs away as though he is swatting at flies, teaching the other dogs that you can be a gentle leader & don’t have to be a bully to earn respect. Archie will thrive in a patient, loving home that can provide daily exercise, basic obedience, & loving reinforcement to build his confidence. Archie is current on vaccines & neutered.
