Story
Cheddar is a very sweet boy, who has high anxiety. He needs lots of space and someone devoted who will work with him to help counter the anxieties and quirks of his unique breed combination. He like to bust out of our suburban yard and wander (great pyr trait) and he does have a higher small prey drive (husky trait). Overall, though, he's an absolute love who deserves more space and training time than we can give him.

Get full details and submit an application at pooch.org/cupcake Uhm, Hi, I’m Cupcake. Can I sit with you? I may look intimidating, but I am just a little fella. I would love to be your shadow, clean up any scraps you drop, and maybe get some good cuddles. Those who really love the blocky-headed dogs are really gonna love Cupcake. This broad, brawny fella is extraordinarily sweet, and melts with affection. He is eager to work for snacks, and has been learning all sorts of tricks from the POOCH team. He knows how to spin, roll over, shake, and has even been working on a magic trick of guessing which hand has the snack. As an XL boy (86 lbs!), we are prioritizing his leash skills and working on his impulse control. He was well when his handler is also engaged, but will find his own entertainment if his handler checks out. He has offered to chase and bark at the feral cats on campus, so he might not be the best fit in a household with cats. Our staff has not had issues with Cupcake dragging them to a cat or other distraction, but we are attentive to his focus and offer alternative options to stem his impulse. Some dogs are quick to tell us that they do not want to live in a kennel, and Cupcake told us this loud and clear. He would be anxious and vocal when put up for the night. However he has since earned a spot in the classroom for overnight. He is excellent free roaming for the night and wakes well rested and eager to start his day with a wag, a stretch, and a plushie in his mouth. Cupcake’s ideal location throughout the day is with you. He has spent hours in our executive director’s office, just keeping her company while she works and holding down the floor with his napping form. SWF in the city? Look no further than your own personal “scary dog privilege.” True to the stereotype, this guy is nothing but a Cupcake with extra sprinkles. He may be jet black with a head the size a city block, but his heart is a sensitive little marshmallow. Youth insights: “I just love Cupcake. He’s fun to hang out with, knows some tricks, walks well when you work on engagement. When he’s sleeping he is an excellent cuddler and rather calm for such a big guy. He may look big and intimidating, but he’s a softie. Breed: Big Blockhead (seriously, we don’t know, your guess is as good as ours!) Sex: Neutered Male (his surgery is 12/10) Size: 86lbs Age: Appx. 2 years Seems to prefer female dogs (meet & greet is required) Wants to meet people, but still learning to do so politely REQUIREMENT: No kids in the home under 16.

Story
Hello, my name is Paisley! I'm an athletic and curious young lady with a playful side. Though I'm not sure about other dogs just yet, I'm sure we can become best friends in no time. I'm kennel trained, and I'd prefer to be in a home with older kids since I sometimes get so excited that I jump up on people - I just can't help it! I also love to run around and explore, so I'll need a backyard or at least a long walking route. I can be a bit of a puller on walks, so I'd benefit from some training and a gentle lead. I'm always up for a game of fetch or a good chew session - I just can't choose toys that are not super strong! If you think you can keep up with my active lifestyle, we might be a perfect match. Come meet me today and see for yourself

Story
I got him as a few month old puppy. He was great at first but its now clear to me he is really meant to be a working dog and not much of a house pet. He has behavioral issues from being inside such as resource guarding. I think he would do much better on a farm or working dog environment with livestock. He was born Dec 1st 2024. I don't have any papers for him as he was a rescue but I was assured he is a purebred and has all of the traits. I had him tested a while ago for hip dysplasia and other joint issues and he is fully cleared on that. He should be perfectly healthy for a long time to come. I really hope he can be adopted by someone with a better environment for him as I feel I cannot provide the home he truly needs or deserves. He knows basic tricks and is potty trained. He can be extremely stubborn. He walks on a leash well. He knows verbal and hand commands but prefers hand.

Story
Meet Freya. She is a 29# 1.5 year old heart throb of a mutt (staffordshire terrier and ?). My partner and I adopted her from the local shelter beginning of June. She is beyond sweet, smart, and loves to snuggle. She has been thriving in our home but unfortunately has not bonded with my partner despite our efforts. No known bite history. She has been friendly with ALL other humans she has come in contact with even small children under supervision. She gets along with our other small dog and has adjusted to backyard chickens (separately fenced). She does have leash reactivity with other dogs on walks, which we are actively working with her and having really good response. She knows how to sit, lay down, bed (place) and is potty trained. She is learning leave it with lots of success. She does not love a crate and we are working on positive reinforcement around it. Freya is such a love and we hope to find her forever home.

Story
Yasko is a loyal, protective dog who bonds deeply and does especially well with females. He’s leash-trained, completed agility training, and excelled at his obstacle courses. He enjoys walks, sometimes reactive to other dogs but improves with direction (NOT a golden retriever). He’s great with puppies and lives well with a Mini Schnauzer girlfriend, though he prefers female dogs and humans, can bond with a man who invests time in him. Yasko likes being indoors and relaxing most of the day he lays on his bed. He used to run seven miles but now prefers one-mile walks. He’s an excellent guard dog, alerting only to strangers. Up to date on vaccines and flea prevention. Protective of his tail but allows me to wash it through trust, the groomers go around his tail when they wash him, he also needs correction from chasing his tail. Due to family changes, I’m seeking the right home for him, someone patient, with time for him, who wants a devoted one-on-one companion to follow them around.
