Story
Big ol’ snuggle buddy alert! Rico is a handsome 3-year old German Shepherd. He is incredibly affectionate, loving and loyal. He loves cuddling up next to his person on the couch. True to his breed, he is highly intelligent, curious and goofy. He is cat-friendly! Rico is living with two other dogs and is dog-friendly, but does best with slow introductions. He engages in play chasing and wrestling, but he also enjoys keeping to himself when outside. He would do well with a confident dog, but would also be happy on his own or with a dog-friendly cat. Rico is house-broken and crate-trained. He will happily go in his crate to relax with the door open. He sleeps through the night on his own dog bed and has not shown any destructive behavior in his foster home. He loves his kong, chew toys, tug-of-war and chasing his ball. Rico has gone through a series of professional training and needs someone who can commit to working his mind and body every day. He is a total rockstar who knows many commands and is ready to show you everything he knows. Working breed experience is required. He is a very active boy and loves walking and running. He'd make a wonderful hiking companion. Rico takes a little while to warm up to new people, but once he does, he wants nothing more than to be right beside you wherever you are. He has some leash reactivity when walking in busier places but has improved tremendously! Rico needs someone with GSD experience who will continue to expose him to these situations and build his confidence. His forever home needs to be dedicated to providing him with structure and consistency, so he can continue to be the best version of himself. He truly loves to learn, loves to please and is always looking to his person for guidance. Like many German Shepherds, Rico attaches himself to one person, and needs someone who is looking for lots of affection - he loves being your shadow. He would make a great running buddy with proper training! Rico is up-to-date on all vaccinations, neutered and microchipped! If you are interested in meeting him, please fill out an Adoption Application: https://lifeofrileyrescue.org/adoption-application **He is currently being fostered in Portland, OR**

Story
Meadow is an affectionate, sweet and mellow 4-year old German Shepherd. She is highly intelligent and would be the perfect companion for someone who is looking for a devoted best friend. She loves to be close, loves belly rubs and yearns for affection from her person. She is great with small dogs but gets a little nervous around bigger dogs. Training and building her confidence will help her overcome her nerves around larger dogs. She is good with cats and overall doesn't seem to mind them. She is house-broken, walks well on a leash and is great in the car. She has excellent off-leash recall and would make a great hiking buddy! Meadow was dumped at a shelter after giving her previous family years of love and loyalty. She is so ready to be loved, and in return she will give twice the love back. She is up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Meadow, please complete and Adoption Application and we will get back to you within 48 hours. https://lifeofrileyrescue.org/adoption-application

Story
Where do we even start with this perfect boy. Zeke is the sweetest, most easy-going 3 year old Husky/Shepherd mix. Physical touch and quality time are his love languages. He LOVES people! Don’t let his size fool you, he is a big, gentle boy who is incredibly willing to please and very affectionate.. Zeke is house-trained and fabulous when walking on a leash. He is highly intelligent, and in just a few days after arriving to his foster home, he has picked up “wait” and “leave it”. He is food and treat motivated, making him an amazing candidate for someone who enjoys training. He is a very respectful house guest and is great when left alone. Unlike many shepherds & huskies, he is quiet! He doesn’t feel the need to chime in when other dogs are barking. Having another dog companion would be a big bonus for him, he is excellent with other dogs. He is a true social butterfly and gets along with everyone he meets. Zeke is up-to-date on all vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. He is currently in a foster home in Corvallis, OR. If you are interested in adopting him, please submit an Adoption Application and we will contact you within 24 hours: https://lifeofrileyrescue.org/adoption-application

Story
Kane is an 11 month old American Eskimo puppy that was recently surrendered to me because his owner could no longer care for him. Kane had broken his leg in February and unfortunately when he presented to my clinic in April his leg was in such poor shape that we could not save it. In addition to having a chronically broken limb, Kane was poorly groomed, skinny, infested with fleas and intestinal parasites and had no vaccine history. My colleagues and I amputated Kane’s front left leg and he recovered well from his surgery. Kane was a bit neglected and shows it, but he is getting comprehensive medical care, is very gentle and loving, and gets along well with other dogs. Unfortunately, Kane is very nervous around new people and will display fear based aggression if pushed, but if you go slow and give him space he adjusts quickly. Kane needs an experienced owner who has the time to work on his anxiety and help him build confidents. I think he would also benefit from a quieter home.
