Story
Meet Roxy the rockstar! She's a siberian husky, approximately 2.5 years old. In some ways Roxy is not your average husky: she's on the lazier side. She's happy to go for a walk or hike but isn't going to destroy your house if she doesn't meet her step quota. Roxy is also very social with other dogs her size and energy level! We like to say that Roxy makes an excellent "gorge dog" because she's so versatile for the area that we live in. Roxy does have some typical husky traits: she sheds A LOT, be prepared for lots of brushing and hair explosions and she has a very high prey drive, so no kitties or small, fast-moving creatures. If you're interested in meeting Roxy, please follow the link below to fill out our adoption application. Her adoption fee is $350, which includes her spay, microchip and vaccinations. https://hoodriveradoptadog.org/adopt/adoption-process/

Story
Hi, I’m Memphis, but the shelter staff calls me Memmie for short! I arrived at Hood River Adopt a Dog in September of 2022 and I’m shocked I haven’t found my forever home yet! Don’t let my big jowls fool you, I am a soft, squishy boy. I’m approximately 2.5 years old and I weigh 70 lbs. I don’t let my size get in the way of trying to be a lap dog! The staff says I’m a certified good boy because I know sit and down and I walk really, really well on leash! My love languages are physical touch and quality time; I would like to hang out with you and snuggle as much as you’ll let me; but I’m also happy to spend time by myself and I will wait patiently for you to come home. I love, love LOVE toys! Maybe a little too much. I’m learning drop it and trading toys and will need to continue to work on this in my new home. I don’t mind other dogs walking by and could potentially have doggie friends if introduced properly away from the crazy shelter environment; however, I should not live with cats! Since I’m such a big, goofy boy, I would do best in a home with older children as I don’t always know my size and may knock over little ones with my enthusiasm. If you’re interested in meeting me, please fill out an application, I can’t wait to meet you! I am up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. My adoption fee is $350. Are you my happily ever after? You may find out more about our adoption process and submit an online application at: https://hoodriveradoptadog.org/adopt/adoption-process/ Meet and greets are by appointment after an applicant has been approved.

Story
This is Jojo! We think she's a wire-haired terrier mix because of her cute, scruffy fur and is approximately 3 years old. She was brought to us from Baja California to live the lavish life of a beloved American pet. While that might seem like the dream, Jojo has had a hard time adjusting to not being a free range dog. Jojo has come a long way with meeting strangers and has a lot of training under her belt. She knows sit, down and touch to name a few. Jojo does best when new people ignore her and let her come to them, which can be a challenge for dog-lovers. Like most dogs, Jojo isn't a big fan of guests who drop in un-announced and prefers a heads-up. While Jojo gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them, she would rather be the only dog in her new home. Due to her terrier background we don't recommend her living with cats. Jojo is considered special needs because she will require a very diligent home, where there will me minimal surprises as she does not handle them well. We would like to see Jojo go to a home who is dedicated to continued, positive reinforcement training so she can be more comfortable in our human society. Jojo comes with a complimentary consultation with local dog trainer Sierra from Aligned Canines. If you're interested in meeting Jojo, please follow the link below and fill out an application and we'll schedule a meet and greet. Her adoption fee is $350, which includes her spay, microchip and vaccinations. https://hoodriveradoptadog.org/adopt/adoption-process/
