Story
Congo is incredibly cute. He loves to get cozy under covers and will carry his 'lovey' with him everywhere he goes. His favorite toys are balls and soft stuffies. He likes to perch on the back of the couch with the cats. He is definitely a velcro-dog and will be a second shadow to the person he chooses Congo would do well with anyone looking for a buddy and has time to spend with him. He will be a second shadow and loves to be close. He does well with our kids, cats, and chickens.

Salem, OR
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Originally a stray from Sacramento he was adopted about 5 years ago from Oregon Humane Society. About 2 years ago his family experienced some major changes and were unable to continue caring for him. He is a very energetic pup that enjoys toys, running around and being a goofball. He needs to have an active lifestyle that could provide the mental stimulation he needs but also the love and patience he deserves. He is dog selective but is good with indoor cats. He enjoys walks but needs to work on his leash manners more. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Salem, OR
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Raya - 3 year old boxer/pit mix Found as an emaciated stray in Polk County, but transported from Texas as a young pup in 2020, it took several months to finally rescue her. She clearly had been on her own for a while and had bad experiences with humans. After being in foster since August 2024 she has decompressed but is still nervous so she would do best in a quiet home without any other dogs. It would take someone with time and patience to help her come out of her shell. It will take her several months to settle and be ready to start experiencing the world. She will not be an adventure dog or one for road trips, a homebody would be ideal.

Story
Susie Q - 2 to 3 year old pitty mix Found out in the woods on the edge of Monmouth a little underweight and terrified. With the help of a local she was quickly tapped. She did not have a microchip and an owner never came forward for her. Shortly after she got spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is a very sweet pup with a dangerous happy tail. She is good with other dogs and cats, she even left the free range chickens alone when she was starving. Not knowing how she ended up out or what her past was like, she needs a loving home that will be patient and help her gain more confidence and feel safe. All four of her K9 teeth are broken/worn so she needs a dental but other than that she doesn’t have any medical issues.

Salem, OR
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Sparky - Just over a year old heeler/bull nose terrier mix Left behind at a homeless encampment in Salem and was luckily watched over by nearby campers until his rescue. After serving his stray hold he was pulled into rescue and was neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He is a very energetic young pup who is learning how to be a family dog. He is good with some dogs as long as they can tolerate his high energy. He is friendly with cats but wants to chase them when they run off, probably best with a cat savvy home or no cats. He loves going for car rides but is working on his leash manners. Sparky is at the perfect age to help shape him into an amazing, well behaved pup

Chihuahua

Male, 2 yrs
Salem, OR
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Frank- Chi mix He is just like a sour patch kid, sour then sweet, but can you blame him? Frank was dumped along with 8 other small dogs in a crate at our local shelter. Clearly none of them were socialized and Frank was labeled feral. He takes some time to warm up, it is best to ignore him until he initiates, then he is a very loving dog. Once he decides he likes you he will follow you around, demand kisses, and wants to play. He does ok with other dogs with proper introductions. He is ok with cats but still struggles not chasing them when they run off. He is a fast, agile little guy. He would love going for adventures as long as he is securely connected to his human. With structure and more socialization, at his pace, he will become the best little companion.
