Story
Jean-Pierre (JP) is a striking three-year-old Standard Poodle who has made remarkable progress since being found abandoned in Quebec. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was frightened, in pain from an untreated ear infection, and unsure of people. With care, patience, and medical treatment, he started to heal — both physically and emotionally — and showed the sweet, loyal nature that defines him today.

Story
Rocky Age 10 12lbs Bichon poodle mix Male Ontario Meet Rocky 🐾 Rocky is an approximately 10year-old, 12 lb Bichon Poodle mix with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. He’s a happy, easy-going little guy who may be a bit shy when meeting new people, but once he feels safe, his affectionate nature truly shines. Rocky is deeply devoted to his foster mom and prefers to stay close—he especially loves sleeping beside his human at night. He adores treats, belly rubs, and affection, and is always happy to head out for a walk. He’s wonderful on leash, easy to handle, and enjoys strolling at your pace. One of his most endearing traits is his bouncy little trot, complete with perfectly flopping ears—it’s impossible not to smile watching him go. He’s housetrained, gentle, and very content to spend his days relaxing and napping when he’s not out exploring. Rocky is calm and social with other dogs and has been perfectly fine around a respectful, well-behaved child (age 8). He rarely barks, only occasionally reacting to loud hallway noises or briefly announcing when his people come home. Rocky is a medium-energy dog who enjoys regular walks (currently about 20 minutes, 3–4 times a day) and would do well in a condo or apartment. He doesn’t require a fenced yard, doesn’t shed, and shows no guarding behaviours. He knows some commands and is considered trainable, responding well to kindness and consistency. While his experience with cats and very young children is unknown, Rocky is friendly, adaptable, and would likely thrive in a calm, loving home where he can feel secure and cherished. 📍 Currently being fostered in Toronto, Ontario Rocky is truly a loving, loyal companion who will bring warmth, joy, and quiet happiness to the lucky home that welcomes him. 💙 ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca. Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country. Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.

Story
We recently adopted Buddy just over 1.5yrs ago from the Clarington shelter. He was brought in as a stray so unfortunately we have no idea what he truly went through. Buddy is a very sweet, loving and caring dog. He is extremely affectionate, loves his treats and loves to cuddle. He is also a very anxious dog which unfortunately comes off as reactivity. In the time that weve had him, he did bite once. We briefly tried behavioural training but unfortunately we did not make much progress as we weret able to devote enough time for Buddy due to our work schedules. Although he is a much different dog now than he was 1.5 years ago, its unfortunately not something we can keep up with in our family. He really has made tremendous progress these last 18 months. Is gotten to the point where we feel like weve done all we can but he just needs more. He needs a good, healthy and calm environment. He needs someone who has more experience with dogs with behavioural issues and consistency.

Story
Thank you for your interest in Mozart. Some dogs get every opportunity. Mozart is not one of them. Despite his sweetness, loyalty, and gentle nature, life has handed this beautiful Standard Poodle the short end of the stick far too many times. He has been owned, surrendered, adopted, returned, adopted again, returned again, transferred to SPIN, moved between fosters, adopted once more — and then returned yet again. Each time, Mozart tried. Each time, he bonded. And each time, humans let him down. When a Quebec shelter reached out for help after his second return, we knew we had to step in. Beneath his stress and confusion, there was a wonderful dog whose emotional needs simply weren’t being met. Once in our care, we discovered he was a purebred Standard Poodle with a heart bigger than his struggles — and a history that finally needed to change. Today, Mozart has been with dedicated, experienced fosters for two months. He is decompressing, learning, and showing us exactly who he is when he feels safe and understood.

Story
Meet Niko, a six-year-old Standard Poodle whose world has always revolved around his people. When his prior family reached out to SPIN, it wasn’t because they didn’t love him — in fact, it was quite the opposite. Life changes meant they could no longer give him the structure, time, and one-on-one attention he thrives on. They wanted to set him up for success, and that meant finding a home that could truly match his energy, his intelligence, and his big, loyal heart. Niko arrived in foster care with the sweetness, house manners, and affectionate nature he’d always had — and he’s been blossoming with the predictability, routine, and kindness of his foster home. He’s a fun, bouncy, endlessly curious boy who loves fetch, outdoor adventures, and staying close to “his” person. He isn’t the laid-back golden-retriever type; Niko is a sensitive, intuitive poodle who notices everything, learns quickly, and thrives when his world makes sense.

Story
Henry didn’t lose his home because he was unloved. In fact, he was adored. But sometimes life blindsides good people with impossible choices. After the arrival of a new baby, his owner’s allergies—previously manageable—intensified dramatically. Living together became unsafe and unworkable, and with heartbreak, she made the decision to surrender Henry so he could have the life he deserves.
