Story
Konjo is a 1-year-old Husky who is waiting for his new home. He is an active boy who loves to play and has that typical Husky personality. Konjo is learning to walk on leash and would do well with an Easy Walk no pull harness. He loves other dogs and would do great with a companion to burn some energy with. Konjo does need a bit more training on his manners and sometimes jumps up over excited, so he is best suited in a home with no small children. A fenced in yard is best for any high energy dog, so he is hopeful his new family has one. Konjo loves people and dogs he is a really friendly boy who is waiting here at the Haven for his new family. Siberian huskies are classic northern dogs. They are intelligent but somewhat independent and stubborn. They thrive on human company, but need firm, positive training. They are bred to run and their love of running may overcome their love for their guardians at times, so a fully fenced yard is a must! Konjo is vaccinated, microchipped and is neutered. Size

Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Harley was a local surrender who had been isolated and was not socialized, which makes him very nervous of meeting new people. Once given a chance he is very loveable and super wiggly. He loves getting pets and attention from the people he knows! Harley is quite active and enjoys long walks, playing with his ball, and running around in our yard. He is selective with other dogs; he has met friends he is compatible with, but he doesn't get along with some male dogs and can be reactive towards them.

Avery

Cane Corso

Female, 4 yrs 11 mos
King City, ON
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Avery senses energy. And is drawn to the kind, calm type. That makes sense! Being blind and deaf, Avery relies mostly on touch and scent to find safety in her world. The kennel environment is busy and Avery is keenly tuned into the stress of the other dogs, which just isn’t great for her system. And yet … Once Avery recognizes you and your energy meets her standard … lookout! Then you’ve got the most playful, goofy, cuddly, high steppin’ girl ever! She’s a staff favourite because she’s such a sweet snuggler and treat lover! We’re looking for a family with no children to take the time to connect with Avery so that she can learn to trust their energy. Can you imagine the purity of the love that can be experienced in this relationship? She can’t see you or hear you … but will still love you. She was surrendered to us by her family when they moved to a house with stairs which were a hazard for her orthopedic issues. A home with no stairs is required. She loves to walk and return to the comfort of long naps. She likes other dogs but can be reactive at first, understandably. Another steady dog in the home would be a possibility, provided lots of visits to Dog Tales come first. Due to her visual and hearing impairment she can be reactive and lunge when meeting new people or dogs. It’s important her adopter takes things slow for introductions. Avery needs consistency and to feel safe in these situations. Dog Tales will provide her family with training before and after she is adopted to ensure a smooth transition. Her family would need to visit frequently to get to know each other.

Story
Abraham was rescued from a local backyard breeder. He was never walked or introduced to new environments. He spent his days isolated in a house. Due to this, Abraham is very nervous and timid at first but once he is comfortable, he is a whole different dog! The Abraham we know is very affectionate and cuddly. He loves to romp around and play with toys. Abraham is super active and excitable. Abraham would do best in a quiet home. He does best with female dogs and would benefit living with a fur sibling. Pumpkin

Shepherd (Unknown Type)

Female, 2 yrs 6 mos
King City, ON
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Pumpkin came to us from another shelter where she lived with her siblings since puppies. Unfortunately, she did not have much human interaction and never had the chance to experience love and affection from people. It took time at our shelter to teach Pumpkin how to trust, walk on a leash and just do regular dog activities. Pumpkin has come a long way and her foster family has played a big part in her rehabilitation to prepare her for a forever home. She is now ready to find her family! Pumpkin has now been in foster for 1 year and here is what her foster family had to share about her… Pumpkin is a sweet, affectionate, funny girl who keeps us laughing with her dance moves and playfulness. Always in a good mood, she loves to be outdoors in any weather and shows off her fantastic speed by playing chase games with her foster siblings. She also enjoys car rides, walking, and hiking. In the house, Pumpkin is fully potty trained, well-behaved and follows the routines well. She has a healthy appetite and loves a good treat. Pumpkin isn't a dog that climbs on the sofa or bed but will come up beside it to get her ears and neck scratched or say good morning to her humans. She loves it when her foster family sits on the floor to give her love and attention, and she sleeps very well at night on her bed in her foster parent's room. Pumpkin benefits from a foster home because the kennel environment was very stressful for her. She is fearful of new people and sensitive to noises. It takes her time to warm up to new people, but she is very engaged once she does. Pumpkin loves playing with other dogs and would benefit from a confident companion she can follow and look to. She would do best in a household without young children and a fenced-in yard where she can run and play. Pumpkin would be best in a quiet home with another dog(s) to guide/play with her and a family she can trust that will give her patience and time to open up and navigate the world. Pumpkin is a flight risk and will require extra precautions in the home (baby gates at doorways, double leashing, GPS, etc).

Honey

Mixed Breed (Medium)

Female, 4 yrs 4 mos
King City, ON
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Honey has overcome tremendous challenges after a traumatic event left her with a spinal fracture and a front leg injury, resulting in partial paralysis. Despite these setbacks, Honey’s spirit is unwavering—she adores everyone she meets and has a special fondness for her snuffle mat! Today, Honey is embracing life with enthusiasm, enjoying her custom wheelchair, which enables her to participate in daily rehabilitation sessions. She also delights in wagon rides, where she gets to explore the world around her. When Honey first came to us, she was unable to sit up without assistance and could only move her head. But with dedicated care and her own fierce determination, she has made remarkable progress, building strength and muscle in other parts of her body. Although she will never regain full use of her other limbs, Honey’s zest for life is truly inspiring. Due to her medical needs, Honey needs to be expressed 4 times daily. Honey is a joyful girl with a vibrant personality. She’s searching for a family who will see beyond her physical limitations and embrace the boundless love and happiness she has to give.
