Story
******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Florence (Flora), 3 years old, spayed female, Carolina Dog mix, 60 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Florence, affectionately nicknamed, Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic dog who loves to wrestle and be chased. She would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level. When playing, Flora could play for hours. She loves to interact with another dog in the home, Furman by licking his face. Flora has experience playing with dogs ranging from a 35-pound Cocker Spaniel to a 60-pound Pyrenees mix. Flora requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. She has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering and barking. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior. When she is off leash, she easily makes new friends. Flora’s compatibility with cats is unknown. She adores the 8-year-old child in the home, but is nervous of new children. While she has done well with children aged 6-11, she tends to bark at new kids, especially when they move around quickly. Therefore, Flora is best suited for homes with children aged 10 and older. As mentioned, Flora has some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, often pulling a lot. However, she has made progress with positive reinforcement and minimal stimuli. She walks much better in calm environments with less activity. Flora is fully housebroken. She has demonstrated some anxiety in the crate at home. When her foster parents have gone out of town she has gone to boarding where she is crated with no issues. At home, she is able to be out of a crate and unsupervised with zero issues. She is fed separately from the other dogs in the home. Otherwise, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food, although she needs reminders to take treats gently. Flora has high energy needs and requires dedicated outdoor playtimes to do well inside the home. She thrives in a moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions. Flora would benefit from having another dog in the home to boost her confidence and match her energy. Flora loves playing with the other dog in the home, enjoys talking, bucking around the yard, eating, going for walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She is a total love bug and enjoys snuggling. She does well in the car but is terrified of storms, often seeking shelter in a closet or burying her head in a lap. Flora’s ideal home would be with someone who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her. A home with another dog of similar age, size, and energy level, and possibly a child, would be ideal. Flora needs an owner who will continue positive reinforcement to help with her anxiety. Flora is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Tanner was picked up as a stray and weighs about 67 pounds. He`s a sweet and energetic dog who`s eager to please people. He`s learned a lot of good commands like sit, shake, and come and also rides really well in the car. If you`re looking for a dog to take on outdoor adventures, Tanner will go absolutely anywhere with you. He loves to run, hike, and swim and just generally getting out to do things. He may come on strong when he first gets out of his kennel, but he calms down nicely after getting out that initial burst of energy. He`s truly a staff and volunteer favorite.DOG-FRIENDLYNOT CAT-FRIENDLYKIDS 6+ (He might knock down younger children)

Story
Crosby was picked up as a stray in Syracuse and is about 47 pounds. He is an affectionate and independent boy who likes to sniff all the good smells on his walks, but doesn’t mind if you need to go for a run instead. He’ll be your chill bud any day of the week. Rain or snow or shine. And when it comes to treats, he’s very patient and respectful. He was offered chicken nuggets once and didn’t even try to take them until he was sure they were for him. He`s also playful, enjoying games of tug and fetch, and is an easy going calm boy when things are less exciting.

Story
Cal is a 1-year-old heeler mix who came into the shelter with another dog. Much like other heelers, he’s wicked smart. He’s a typical working dog puppy where he will need daily mental stimulation such as doing enrichment activities, playing with people or other dogs, and going on walks where he can sniff and explore. He might even like having a job to do (Maybe he can help you shred boxes for recycling?). Cal listens well to corrections and commands and would do wonderfully with training to establish good habits.DOG-FRIENDLYNOT CAT-FRIENDLYALL-AGES

Story
Nolan came in with his buddy Cal and is showing to be a pretty typical working dog puppy. He likes to be engaged with mentally stimulating activities like fetch (he’s still learning) and going for Sniffari walks. He’s learning to be affectionate as he warms up to the volunteers and shelter life. Being a working dog and a puppy, Nolan will likely not only excel in but enjoy consistent training and can probably learn advanced tricks like spin, roll over, or make the bed.DOG-FRIENDLY
