Story
Winston’s life before coming to the shelter was one of heartbreak and isolation. He spent most of his early years locked away in a crate, denied the chance to run, play, or simply be a dog. His world was small and lonely — until the day his owner tied him to a guardrail and walked away, leaving him frightened, filthy, and severely underweight.Since arriving at the shelter, Winston has experienced more freedom than he ever knew existed. For the first time, he’s learning what it means to be cared for, to feel grass under his paws, and to receive love without strings attached. Though he's come a long way, Winston is still healing. He’s apprehensive of unfamiliar situations and especially wary of men — a sign of the trauma he’s endured. But with time, patience, and kindness, he can and does learn to trust.Winston is incredibly intelligent and highly food-motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. He gets along well with cats and most other dogs, and he thrives in calm environments where he can feel safe and secure. After spending over a year at the shelter, Winston is ready to find his forever home — one with someone who understands that trust takes time and healing isn’t always linear. But for those willing to give him that chance, Winston has so much love to give in return.Could you be the one to show Winston what a real home feels like?

Clovis

American Pit Bull Terrier

Story
Clovis’s story begins in heartbreak. Animal control officers were dispatched to a call about a “dead dog” on the train tracks. What they found instead was a miracle — a frail, emaciated dog, clinging to life, too weak to even stand. That dog was Clovis. We don’t know much about Clovis’s past, but his broken body and cautious spirit tell a story of hardship and neglect. Despite it all, Clovis chose to survive. And now, with time, care, and compassion, he’s learning that life can be gentle.Clovis is understandably wary of new people and unfamiliar situations. He’s people-selective and needs slow, respectful introductions. But once you earn his trust, you’ll find the most loyal, affectionate, and goofy friend you could ever ask for. Clovis doesn’t give his heart easily — but when he does, it’s yours completely. He needs a quiet, stable home with no other animals, where he can decompress and continue healing at his own pace. A fenced-in yard is required so he can safely explore the outdoors without fear.Clovis isn’t just looking for a home — he’s looking for a chance. A chance to feel safe. A chance to be loved. A chance to finally just be a dog.Give Clovis that chance, and he’ll give you everything he has in return.
