Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Buzz is a young energetic pup who needs structure and clear boundaries.  Buzz has a lot of energy, and if nowhere to use it, he can become quite antsy.  Buzz does take time to warm up to new people, however he is quite food motivated which helps, and once he accepts you, you have a loyal best friend.  A home with a fenced yard for fetch or an active home that will take him on long walks and hikes, as well as taking him to training classes.  Buzz would likely love scent work or an agility classes.  Buzz is reported to be good with cats, in a former home it was reported he ignores the cats he resided with and allowed them to rub on him.  Buzz has been around a few social dogs since becoming a Diamond and has done well, can play a little rough but also has no problem just coexisting when it's not play time.  He is currently frustrated with pent up energy, and we feel he would do best in a home without young kids at this time.Buzz is very treat motivated, making training easier and fun with him.  Buzz is currently in board and train to work on some manners and social skills, he has been through a basic training class as well and did great with known, confident handlers.  However, in a new place with new smells, sights and sounds, he does need support to maintain focus on his handler, or else he becomes bossy.  Buzz is seeking a home to bounce to after his board and train, which would include follow up sessions with his current trainer!  If you have an active lifestyle – avid outdoors person, busy farm, and looking for a new best friend to be by your side, please reach for more information to see if you are a good match with Buzz.  Once he’s bonded with you, it is forever, and he is very loyal.  He just needs structure, activity, and time. For Fun!Also - his Wisdom Panel DNA Results came back with the following mix:48% Siberian Husky18% Labrador Retriever10% American Pit Bull Terrier8% Boxer5% American Bulldog2% Alaskan Malamute2% Rottweiler2% German Shorthaired Pointer2% German Shepherd1% American Staffordshire Terrier1% Goldern Retriever1% ChihualaVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. &#226&#150&#186 We do not adopt to Canada  due to border restrictions and breed-specific legislation &#226&#150&#186 We adopt & foster locally only ; within an approximately 55 mile radius of Lockport, NY 14094 USA Adoption donation includes Spay/Neuter, Vaccinations, deworming & flea treatment. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This gorgeous little tank is Blu! He's a fun, goofy, sweetheart who CRAVES human companionship. Blu is currently in boarding & he wants nothing more than to be in a home with people! Every volunteer who's met him has instantly fallen in love with his happy, puppy-like wonder at the world around him. Blu will be happy doing whatever his people are doing; exploring, going for walks, playing or just hanging out together.  Blu was kept in a barn before becoming a Diamond, so he was never given the opportunity to learn all the things dogs usually get to learn as a part of a family. Luckily he's as smart as he is cute, eager to please & highly treat motivated so training should be pretty easy. But he is a strong little guy, so he'll need someone strong enough to handle him while helping him learn leash manners. Check out his video below to see him sitting, giving paw & gently taking treats like a champ!  We know Blu liked dogs before he was attacked by one who was resource guarding. Our boy Blu is a lover, not a fighter so we have to assume he may be somewhat dog selective going forward; as always a meet & greet with resident & frequently visiting dogs facilitated by a DITR volunteer is required. Cats are unknown. If  you have a cat(s) DITR will facilitate a safe, no contact "cat test" with Blu and your cat(s) as part of the approval process. Blu has never lived with children and has no idea of his strength, so we're recommending only older, respectful children (13+ yrs) at this time. Because this sweetie had a rough start at life, he needs someone willing to provide the love, time & patience needed to properly decompress & transition from barn/boarding life to a loving home. Our dog team will be happy to provide guidance. You can also check out the "Two Weeks - The Adjustment Period" document link above the foster & adoption application section on our homepage.  As proof of how much everyone loves Blu; his adoption fee will be covered for his forever home. PLEASE consider opening your heart & home to foster or adopt this sweet meatball! We know he's going to thrive with a loving family in safe, warm home! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Scooby is a very obedient, faithful and goofy best friend, he is looking for a loving family.  Scooby is great at entertaining himself  throwing the toy up in the air and catching it or whipping it around, or chasing his tail. He also enjoys playing with his people.  He prefers tug of war or a squeaky ball,  he loves to fetch when there’s a treat involved, which he will look at your hand first before dropping the ball.  Scooby loves the outdoors and loves playing in water. He is always up for an adventure and loves butt scratches. He is crate trained, has fantastic leash manners, understands sit, lay down, no, come here and does wait until you say go to eat his food although there will be some drool.  Scooby is very smart, eager to please and will do anything for a treat and to be by your side or sitting on your feet or lap.  Scooby's previous owner reports that he played well with other male dogs and does have an allergy to chickenVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Say hello to Hailey! She is a very sweet and happy dog that would love an active family. Playing catch is her thing AND she also loves the water and her stuffy toys! She didn't have much exposure to the world or other animals in the early years of her life. But she has worked with a wonderful trainer and has learned to be social with other dogs again. Her ideal home would be quiet and relaxed. She does take time to warm up to new people but once you earn her trust... she is a total wiggle butt who wants to play! Hailey does not need another dog in her furever home. She would be happy as your one and only OR to have one other doggie friend who is more submissive. As always, a meet and greet is required with your current dog. We have also recently found out that Hailey can live with a cat. Her current foster has a senior kitty who she pays no attention to so we believe that older kitties who mind their business (LOL) would be best.  Hailey does have some leash reactivity to other dogs when out for walks so she will need an understanding and firm adopter/handler who will continue to maintain her training. This is easily managed if you follow the guidance of her trainer. Her foster mom walks her daily and it has not been an issue! Hailey needs a home with structure and routine and a family who will maintain and continue her training. Her trainer is committed to her progress and her new family should be too. Hailey's perfect furever home will have older humans (13+), be active, and take her on adventures. This beautiful and smart girl would LOVE a second chance. Could you be the family for her?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
Are you looking for the dog equivalent of a #Girlboss?  Perhaps a pittie Miranda Priestly??  Before becoming a Diamond, Maddie was not socialized with people or animals and, as she has started expanding her social circle, her true bossy lady personality has truly emerged…so if you’re looking for a pup to take over your day-to-day life decisions, Maddie is your girl!   In all seriousness, Maddie is a work in progress.  Maddie has attached very strongly to her foster, and is (mostly, lol) a perfect gem for her, but she does have intense stranger danger which, in true #girlboss style, she has no problem showing.  She reacts similarly to new dogs, although has bonded closely with her foster fur-siblings and particularly with her little foster fur-brother (who she has turned into her emotional support animal).  Maddie is working with a trainer to help her to better emotionally regulate, and she will need a home that will be patient with her and support her continued progress.   But my goodness, is she worth it!  Being loved by Maddie is like having the sun shine on you everyday, with her big smile, sweet kisses, playful nature, intense, burrowing cuddles, and sighs of contentment.  If you are that special person (or persons!) who can help Maddie become her best self, you will never regret it.  Maddie is sponsored with training to continue her journey. Until Maddie becomes her best self, we are recommending no kids and only friendly, patient and well-rounded dogs for siblings. If you are interested in meeting Maddie, please fill out an adoption application online (https://diamondsintheruffanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms). Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Looking for a sweet, devoted and ridiculously loving companion who has a zest for life? Meet Rocky – a wiggly, happy-go-lucky pup whose ready to bring nonstop fun into your life. Despite a rough start to life, this handsome guy is ready to leave the past behind and find his forever home filled with love and belly rubs. This 3-yr old adorable Boxer-Bully mix is full of personality – whether he’s exhuberantly greeting visitors, doing zoomies in the yard, chasing his ball, proudly strutting the neighborhood, plopping his 60 lb body onto your lap, watching every move you make in the kitchen or trying to sneak into your bed at night! He is smart, food motivated and eager to please which is a blessing for training. He knows basic obedience, loves the comfort of his crate, is housetrained and yes, he is a treadmill pro as well. Although Rocky does love a good workout, he does not need a lot of exercise and is sensitive to the warmer weather. Rocky is perfectly happy having a decent walk, then switching to his role as Professional Window Watcher – where he snoozes and lounges in front of the bay window to watch the world go by. He rarely barks at the many people and dogs walking by but if there is a squirrel to report, he is on it! He usually races to the door if he thinks by chance there may be a guest stopping by although often it’s just the mailman or an Amazon delivery person. Rocky gives Velcro Dog vibes – wherever you are is where he wants to be. He is a strong and sturdy boy who needs to be mindful around little ones and does love to chew, so watch those toys. This big-hearted pup is all about people and loves soaking up the attention and he needs to be the only pet in the home. No sharing the spotlight for him! Despite this, he enjoys pack walking and participating in training classes with other balanced and controlled pups – as long as he has his space. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate and endlessly entertaining best friend, Rocky is your perfect match. He is a wonderful houseguest at his foster home and is very much loved.
