Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt Sadie is a 10 yr old female shepherd/terrier mix who weighs 52lbs. She is strong-willed and does best with male dogs. She will do best with a dog companion in her new home. She is very athletic and enjoys attention from people. Because she is athletic, she needs daily walks and a very secure yard. She can jump a 6ft fence, so she will need a minimum fence height of 6-7ft preferably a no-climb fence or a concrete wall/fence. She is a really smart girl and will respond well to training, as long as she’s given time. Sadie will make an amazing companion for any family and will probably do well with children.  For more information on Sadie, please complete the online adoption application and call Shirley at 575-491-9577.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt Meet Misty: A Resilient and Loving Husky in Search of Her Forever Home Misty, formerly known as Snowflake, has had a challenging journey. She came to SHRNM after being abandoned by her family of four years. For most of her life, she was kept outside, even during the birth of at least one litter. Thanks to generous donations, she received a dog house and a 10x10-foot chain link kennel, which was a significant improvement from the chain that had confined her. When her family moved to another state, they left her behind in the outdoor kennel. For several months, a neighbor fed her, though Misty was left with dirty water and a filthy living space. The neighbor, afraid to approach her, would throw food into her kennel. Finally, after three long months, this neighbor sought help for Misty, and our rescue was contacted. Misty quickly became a beloved member of SHRNM. She was friendly with people, though she didn't get along well with other dogs. Her loving and submissive nature shone through. It took some time, but eventually, a young man in the Albuquerque area adopted her. He lived with and cared for his grandparents, and Misty was renamed. She slept in his bed, played with his male dog, and became a cherished family member. Unfortunately, after eight months, the grandparents felt that Misty was too energetic and decided they could no longer keep her. As the young man was their caregiver, he had no choice but to return her to SHRNM. Misty is a wonderful husky, house-trained, friendly (with a joyful bounce), and good on a leash. She’s now looking for a true forever home with a secure 5-6 foot fence, attentive owners, daily walks, and lots of love. If you're ready to give Misty the life she deserves, please contact us. Let's find this resilient and loving husky her perfect home. For more information on Misty complete an online application and contact Shirley at (575) 491-9577. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt My name is Balto and I heard that I was named after another famous husky that helped people up in the north a long time ago. I am a bit reserved but once you get to know me, I will also be your best friend. I’m a smaller husky. I love exploring on a hike, going for walks, and even just heading out to the dog park for a fun trip to meet other dogs.  I get along with everyone and I do have a very playful side, so wrestling with my dog friends may be in the cards!  Sometimes my dad says he finds me upside down relaxing and napping. I do love life and would love to meet you if feel like I would add to your life as well!  Fill out an application and let's meet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt Kai came to us with four other dogs. He came from a property where him and 35+ other dogs lived outside. Kai is about 3-4 years old, based on behavior. They all had absolutely no socialization with people. Although the foster home is working with him, he is unsocialized and will need lots of patience and love in any new home. Kai recently lost his bonded pair – Luna.  He is now learning how to be part of a larger pack. He is currently in a foster home where he is getting some training and rehabilitation.  He is still leery of “the humans” but will allow pets and offerings of treats.  He is learning how to use his voice and has started singing with the other huskies in the house.  He is gentle and kind and needs a ton of love and patience.  But he is so worth the effort.   If you are interested in a fostering or adopting this handsome boy, please fill out our adoption application. You can get to the Adoption Application by clicking 'How to Adopt' and then click 'Complete the adoption application' If you would like to learn more about Kai, you can contact Shirley at (575)491-9577  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:23 pm
