Story
We adopted Mattie about 2 months ago, he is a great puppy. We did his DNA testing and discovered he’s about 30% Australian cattle dog about 15% pit bull and a mix of German Shepherd, Labrador and some other breeds. We enrolled him in a basic puppy obedience training and completed it. He knows “sit”, “come”, “paw”, “wait” and “down” commands. Due to our lives getting much busier lately we can’t dedicate as much time to caring for Mattie at this point. Mattie will do great with a family with a fenced yard as well as other dogs of approximately same age and size (5-6 months, 30-35 lbs). Matt is about 35 lbs, is expected to be about 40-45 lbs when fully grown. Matt loves to play with other dogs. He gets along well with our cat as well. We also enrolled him in the intermediate training, to start soon and will be happy to share this with his new family.

Story
STRYKER - Young, Fun, and Energetic Yes, you will be thunderstruck with this amazingly athletic and fun dog. He is going to keep you entertained for hours and then just chill out at night, you will fall in love with Stryker. This handsome, playful and friendly Dutch Shepherd dog can’t wait to meet you and become best buddies. He loves to play and run around outside, getting a full head of steam playing fetch and stretching his legs. When inside, Stryker can play or learn to chill by your side while you do some work from home. Like any shepherd, this guy is smart and active. Get those tennis balls and tug toys out because he loves playing fetch or goofing off with just about any toy. Stryker is incredibly agile and fast. He enjoys brisk walks and being with people. Stryker gets very excited when meeting new dogs. Stryker has a girlfriend - Van. They love to run around and play hard. Stryker can sometimes be a little possessive of his ball when playing with other dogs, however, he has the potential to live with other active dogs. He was gentle and easy going when walking with our special girl Phoenix. Stryker is about 3 years old and close to 70 pounds. He is healthy with no underlying medical issues. As you can see from his pictures he is quite photogenic, but even pictures don’t do him full justice. You have to meet him to truly experience his joyous nature. Stryker has all the physical, intelligence, and active characteristics of a full Dutch Shepherd. If you are interested in finding out more about Stryker, please email us at contact@sedonashepherd.com. Stryker is also a candidate for our foster to adopt program, which allows a potential adopter the opportunity to foster Stryker for 3 weeks prior to committing to an adoption. We are requiring any potential adopter sign up for obedience training with Stryker. If you live in northern, central or western New Jersey, Canine Dimensions has graciously offered to provide up to 3 in home sessions at no cost. Preference will be given to owners with a fenced in yard. Based on his activity level, we are also looking for a home with older children. If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application. Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com. Story
JASPER - A Family Friendly German Shepherd Age: 8 Years Sex: Male Size: Medium Good With Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes Meet Jasper, a happy go lucky adult German Shepherd. Jasper is a family dog. He has lived with toddlers, children and adults. He is happy to be around everyone and always read to play or be affectionate. According to his owner, Jasper is a great high energy dog who wants a loving family to play and walk him or big yard to run. He always lets you know when a visit is coming and doesn’t jump just barks in excitement of new people to play with. Jasper is very obedient and knows many commands. He is in excellent health and still has a lot of energy. Jasper had previously lived with another dog and can probably co-exist with in a home with other dogs. He can be a little barky when seeing dogs on a leash, but is fine with most dogs once he meets them. No cats for Jasper. Jasper is part of our owner referral program. He is currently located in the Lehigh Valley, PA. We are helping his current owner find a new home for Jasper. If you would like to meet Jasper in person, please reach out to us at contact@sedonashepherd.com or fill out an online adoption application. Story
THE KING Sex: Male Size: Medium Good With Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes The first thing you will see when King greets you is a toy in his mouth, preferably his shark toy. King can’t wait to meet new friends. He is incredibly happy when people come to visit, he assumes they are all there to say hi to him. He has a happy smile for everyone he meets. King is a great family dog. He has lived with toddlers, children and adults. King is athletic and very smart. He was trained as a youngster, and listens (most of the time) to all of his commands. King’s owners are in a tight spot and reached out to Sedona Shepherd for help. His dad is being deployed overseas and his mom has to move out to another state with their toddler to live with extended family. King is in good health and very active. Let’s give King a forever home and honor the service and dedication of his family to our armed services. Story
MELO - Just Looking For A Nice Home Age: 11 Years Sex: Male Size: Large Good With Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: Unknown Good With Children: Yes Melo lived his whole life in a home with a family and friends. Sadly, his owner was unable to provide a home for Melo when they moved. Melo is a friendly dog that still has a lot of life and pep in his step. He is healthy (though has some seasonal allergies) and very active. Melo loves to go on walks and even at his age still pulls a bit on the leash on his walks. Melo would be comfortable in most home settings. He has been around other dogs and seems like he probably could live with another well mannered dog. For the most part, he’d rather just hang out with people and ignore other dogs. Originally surrendered to Perth Amboy Animal Shelter, who took good care of this boy, Melo is now with Sedona Shepherd. Story
JOKER AND HARLEY BEST FRIENDS Age: 5 and 5 Years Sex: Male and Female Size: Large Good With Dogs: Non-reactive, but best on their own Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes Joker and Harley are best of friends. Although not from the same litter, both dogs share the same birthday. Joker and Harley have spent most of their 5 years together, enjoying the world and meeting new people. They are pure bred German Shepherds. Joker has the unique liver/tan color coat and Harley has a more classic black and tan coat. These two pals love to meet new people. They have been socialized with people and children all their lives. Joker and Harley also lived with an older Siberian Husky. However, these days Joker prefers to hang with Harley without any other dogs around. When Joker and Harley come out and meet new people, they are super-excited. They start off with a burst of energy and then eventually just hang out. Joker and Harley would do great in a family setting and preferably, but not required, a fenced in yard or at least an area where they can run around. These two besties are located in Morris County. The are currently part of our owner referral program, and are eligible for our foster to adopt program. Once you meet them, you will fall in love and enjoy their enthusiasm and playfulness. Interested in fostering or fostering to adopt these BFFs? Shoot us a request for more information at contact@sedonashepherd.com or fill out an online adoption application.
