Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Thelma! A kind, gentle soul who found herself at the shelter after being bred her entire life and then discarded of when she was too old to produce any more babies for the profits of her owners. Despite her cruel past, Thelma is extraordinarily kind, patient, loving and an overall joy to be around. She has been such a quiet, enjoyable house guest since being a part of TLC Animal Rescue. Thelma has integrated into her foster home wonderfully with both male and female pitties. She wags her tail at her foster siblings, sniffs, and then keeps to herself. She has had zero accidents in the house and is crate trained. Thelma would be a perfect dog for a beginner or a family with little to no dog experience. She is easy going and has so much love to give! Adopt Thelma ** Note: Thelma currently has a large mass hanging from her abdomen that we have had a generous donator step up and offer to pay for the surgical removal of. We suspect this mass is due to being a late spay and just a fatty mammary gland tumor, but will see the vet on 11/29 for a pre surgical consultation and have more information on this matter soon. Please do not let this deter you from adopting Thelma! She is a total gem of a girl and we suspect this is just another small hurdle for her to overcome before finally landing the happily ever after she so desperately deserves! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 14, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
Ralphie was born 10.1.23 in Ringoes, NJ and is a pure bred neutered English Shepard, who, so far has been trained to sit, lay down, and "look you in the eye" (pretty well) on command as well as being crate trained. He's very athletic and energetic. He is cat curious and needs ones used to his nosey type, while he is also happy to chew a bone near his human once his energy is spent. He is not aggressive but can be pretty barky which may be a characteristic of his breed as he is a herding dog. He will come with crate dish leash and toys. I am requiring a fee and vet references because I want him to go to the best home. The fee IS negotiable depending on your sitch, your family may be fortunate enough to welcome this verygoodboy into your life. Tell me your story! Ralphie's forever home must include either active adults, older kids or packmate dogs who will be his BFFs. He is also a fantastic candidate for diving or obstacle course type activities. willing to travel for right family

Story
Dog Name: Malin Breed: Pittie mix Sex: female Age: ~ 3 yo Weight: 40 lbs Medical Needs: Malin has mild hip dysplasia on one side and bilateral luxating patellas. She takes a Dasuquin supplement daily which has made her joint issues almost imperceptible. This costs $13/mo  Housebroken: yesCrate trained: yesGood in the car: LOVES to go for rides. Good on a leash: Meh. Not so much. She acts like she has ADHD when the leash comes out. I think she’s hoping the next stop is the car! Energy level: mediumNeed a fenced in yard: not required  Dog Friendly: Yes and no. She is able to be out and about in public around other dogs and be fine. In the home, she can coexist with the right match of a dog…lower energy and not in your face. She has been known to resource guard items and food. For this reason,  a dog free home is recommended.  Cat Friendly? No. Perhaps it was a W. Virginia mountain lion that attacked her, leading to her amputation. Now she seeks revenge on all felines. ‍‍‍ It’s the story we are going with! Kid Friendly: I recommend teens. She could interpret screaming and yelling from youngsters as someone being threatened and would want to intervene. She seems sensitive to that.  If you followed GRR for a while then you know Malin has been with the rescue for about 17 months now. She came with some pretty severe injuries to her face and front legs which necessitated the amputation of her front right leg. During these 17 months, she’s had exactly 2 meet and greets!! Only TWO One of which is when we learned of her desire to nomnom a kitty ‍. Sure, she’s not perfect and needs a specific kind of home but she is so deserving of that. She is such a loving and devoted companion. I guarantee that if someone broke into my house all my dogs would probably hide but Malin…she would protect me at all costs. She absolutely loves going anywhere in the car…perhaps you know an over the road trucker in need of companionship? She is also happy to just chill at home on the couch if that’s where you are. She’s really not asking for too much. I know there has to be someone out there who sees the beauty in her like I do!!  Fosters Location:Hurlock, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app —  ##1363897##
