Story
If you want a 100-pound furrball, you must come to meet Kaya!! Kaya is a gorgeous red Malamute that is fun to be around! Kaya loves to go for car rides, hikes, and strolls in the lakes. She is 9 years old but has the energy of a much younger dog. Kaya was recently adopted and though she gets along with most dogs in a more casual setting she does not want to share her home with one. She was in a home with a toddler for the week she was adopted and did very well with him. Kaya's ideal home would be someone who loves to go for walks and have a canine sidekick on road trips. We are open Wed-Sat from Noon to 4 for walk-ins. To get preapproved to adopt same day fill out an application on our website spfldhumane.org. If you have a vet you must contact them to permit them to speak to us. Adoption fee-$100 Due to the strict animal import laws in MA, we can not adopt to MA residents.
We'll also keep you updated on Walnut's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Walnut is a handsome 7-month lanky pup! Walnut is a shy, but sweet boy. He has not experienced much in his life and is learning about the world around him. He has learned he enjoys cuddling he has become very good at it! He loves food so training will be easy. Walnut had a lot of fun playing with another dog recently. He had a great time chasing her and being chased by her, but he did not like sharing toys with her, so that is a work in progress. He is a mix of Catahoula and Preso Canario, plus some unknown. He will be a big boy once full-grown! Walnut is a sweet boy who needs a patient and loving home to show him all he has missed out on, and long couch snuggle sessions!! We are open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 4. To get pre-approved for adoption same day go to spfldhumane.org and fill out an application. If you have a vet please contact them to permit them to speak or we can not process your application. Adoption fee-$250 Due to the strict animal import laws in MA, we can not adopt to MA residents.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Andy is a 3 year old handsome Italian hunk. Straight of a sheep farm in KY this boy was surrendered by farmer. They said he chases sheep. Hard to believe as he doesn’t move fast at all. Andy is super sweet and a wee bit shy. Please visit our website for more pictures of this dog and info on our adoption process and application which is located on the left column under "forms & applications" :                            https://barkdogfarm.rescuegroups.org Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees.  They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash.  You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries.  Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called.  A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place.  If all are in agreement and the animal has received its NH health certificate an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid.  Adoption fees for dogs are $450. for adults over 12 months, $550 for puppies 12 months and younger.  Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate.  Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment. We show animals by appointment only. This is usually done meet outdoors so please dress accordingly. Please email barkingdogfrm@gmail.com with any questions or to arrange a meet and greet.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 3, 2024, 10:38 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Levi is a two year old neutered male great pyrenees from KY. He is a sweet soul. He came in emaciated at the end of September 2023 and has gained much needed weight and his gorgeous coat has come back in. Our first priority was to get all the matts out of his coat. His coat was in poor condition, dry and brittle. Levi seems to have some hearing loss, sort of like an old dog would when he is asleep, he doesnt hear you but feels vibrations mostly but does appear to hear certain tones. He does have some hearing so not totally deaf. We have been teaching him some sign language that he is responding to! Levi has gained weight and muscle mass. He is able to run around and play with the other dogs. At this point it does not look like his arthritis will effect him much in the near future but will later in life. Keeping him thin, regular exercise and supplements are a must.***We suspected Levi has issues with his back legs and xrays confirmed he does have hip dysplasia as well as the start of arthritis in his knees. We have started him on supplements and an exercise program to build muscles in those back legs and get him strong and healthy. Despite his medical issues this is one great dog. We are hopeful someone will want to share their home with the sweetheart and he doesnt have to live in a kennel.
