Story
My name is Murphy and I am a gorgeous brindle boy.  Per my DNA test I'm 37% American pitbull terrier, 12% Australian cattle dog and 7% Labrador retriever. I am a good boy, sadly I've been at the shelter for a long time and here is what you need to know:  I need a home with a great leader who can continue my current routines, I'm kennel trained ( I love it, it's my safe place) and muzzle trained if you live in an area where i need to wear a muzzle to go for walk. I know sit, down, wait, I love walks and hikes and walk pretty well on leash (as long as there is nothing interesting to chase), car rides, belly rubs under the sun, eating ice, doing zoomies on the snow, and I love people!  I have a high prey drive so no small dogs or cats for me. I like children but I think it's best that I live with older ones as I might be a little too strong for them. If you think I can come to your house and show you what a good boy I am, please reach out and let's meet!   Thank you!!!  Love, Murphy.  Thanks to our amazing Angel Sponsors, our long term pups now come with reduced adoption fees, alleviating financial road blocks for some, and making it even easier to open your heart and home to a furry friend. The adoption fee is $100 plus tax and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter and a home training session.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only during the social distancing stage of quarantine.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com. Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Koda is a sweet, mild mannered and relaxed boy. He is 4 yrs old, 67 lb Husky/Malamute and thinks he’s a lap dog. He loves kids and is okay with cats and has lived with dogs but has food guarding so needs to be fed separately. He definitely will need a 6ft fence, after all he is a husky.  He enjoys long walks and playing ball. Koda is kennel trained and potty trained but when he goes to a new home he will need a refresher until he learns where the door is he needs to go to. He knows sit, lay down and paw!  He loves to spend time with his humans and would prefer you be around more than not. Come out and meet Koda to see if he fits well into your family lifestyle. Story
Mila is a beautiful, 10 1/2 yr old, tan & white cattle dog mix looking for her forever home. She had some bad luck with her last adoption from us.  We got a call from a shelter in Wisconsin that she was found tied to a pole. A wonderful volunteer from that shelter flew her to Iowa in his personal plane where one of our dedicated volunteers met him to pick her up and bring her back home.  She is playful and loves people of all kinds. Mila walks well on a leash, loves to play fetch and does a good job of keeping herself occupied. She's a sweet, fun girl and would love to live out the rest of her life with someone who loves her. Mila cannot be around other dogs so she needs to be the only pet in the home. Can you give Mila the life she so deserves.  For more information, email us at tchsPapillion@gmail.com or visit https://townandcountryhumanesociety.org/adopt The adoption fee is $200 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel. Story
Rosie is a 8 year old female mix but don't let her hear you call her a middle aged woman. Rosie identifies as an Olympic athlete in training. She is reluctantly appreciative of healthier food and portion control in order to meet that goal. She will always choose the longer, hillier route in our walks. She came to us with bladder stones, but thankfully, those stones were removed and she is learning she can trust her bladder again.Rosie has done well with other dogs in our playgroups but wouldn't mind if she had all your attention to herself. She really appreciates human contact, love and attention. She would love to live out her best life in a compassionate home. If that is your home come out and meet her. The adoption fee is $200 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.
