Story
She is a really hyperactive dog. She is almost 4 years old, she is really good around cats and she sometimes tries to assert dominance with smaller dogs. She has never been around children so not sure how she would do around them. She really likes to play and she really loves belly rubs. She also comes with a big cage, lots of toys, harness, leash, tether, and a big tub of food. She is 3 part Lab/Husky/Pit. She is fixed, she won't let us cut her nails so she has sharp claws. She would need a decent amount of running space, preferably blocked in because she doesn't like to stay close when outside. She has separation anxiety with us, so she will prolly have a hard time getting used to her new environment.

And DNA shows she is 100% border collie!!  She wants nothing more in life than to play frisbee, fetch, and spend time romping and wresting with her dog buddies. Willow has a high energy level, a medium herding drive, and is eager to please. She is treat and praise motivated and knows basic commands. She is potty trained and crate trained. Her ideal home would have a 5 foot fence, a playful housemate and a soft couch. She adores children and strangers. Willow would do well as a running companion and is a natural at agility and obedience. She is ready for adventure and is always eager to learn. Willow was born in a rural setting and was penned without much human interaction for her first 6 months of life. She went to new owners and along with their resident Border Collies changed her from a terrified, constantly hiding puppy to a well socialized outgoing adult. Willow came into MO-Kan’s care and is happily living with playful canine housemates including elderly dog and a puppy.   Read about Smooth Coat Border Collies>>>  Willow is being fostered in the Kansas City, MO area. Click here to watch a video of Willow (2023) (Adoption Pending).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 10:33 am

Story
Rufus is a high energy dog who is looking for a new home where he can get lots of play time and exercise! He gets along great with his foster brothers and loves to wrestle, play tug and do zoomies in the yard with his buddies. He could definitely live as an only dog, but would love a home with another active dog who could help burn off some of his energy! Rufus has had successful interactions with older children, but his energy level and love of face kisses might be overwhelming for little ones or kids who aren't comfortable with big, goofy dogs. Roofie is a smart boy who knows all of the basic commands. He has a bit of anxiety and is working hard to learn things like calmly leaving his crate after being left alone and not jumping on people. He gets better and better every day and would benefit from continued training in his new home to help him with the adjustment. His active mind and athletic ability would make him an awesome candidate for activities like agility training. This handsome doofus is such a sweetie and loves attention. He's a big boy, but he wants to be a lap dog, and he spends every night curled up in bed as close as he can to his foster mom Rufus has been diagnosed with a congenital defect called pulmonic stenosis (PS). PS is a condition in which the pulmonic valve is abnormally formed and creating an obstruction of blood flow from the right heart to the lungs. This then causes the right heart to have to work harder to push blood to the lungs, which in turn causes enlargement and thickening of the right heart. Fortunately, Rufus has had a successful surgery for this condition. It is recommended he have yearly follow up visits to monitor his heart.

Story
Riki is a friendly girl. Her ideal home is going to be a more mature one where she doesn't have to share her space with other pets. She's the star of the show after all! Riki is an active girl ready to run and play. Her past foster said "Riki is a big, lovable, energetic goofball. Even though she's over a year old, she's still a playful puppy at heart. She's a big sweetheart with lots of love to give! She loves to play and wants all the attention. After she's gotten most of her energy out she likes to curl up in your lap for a snuggle and some pets. Riki is smart, adventurous, and loves to be outside a lot. She knows how to sit and is potty trained! She's a good girl just waiting for her forever home! - Volunteers say: "Riki is a very happy, playful girl. She gets excited when she first sees you, but calms down after a few minutes. She loves to go on walks and be outside. She's definitely a boy's girl. She loves to sit on the couch with the guys and soak in all of the love and attention. She loves to play, but wants to make sure you're interested too. She walks very fast with a lot of strength. She would definitely be good for a mature household, probably with a male." "Riki is a sweet dog who loves to be outside. She is fully of energy and is happy wherever she is. She takes treats very sweetly and gently!" "Riki is a playful girl. She enjoyed chasing after the tossed toy. She would bring it back. Sometimes she liked to play keep away by putting her foot on top of the toy. But if I didn't try to get it, she made sure I knew she had it. Riki is sweet, smart, and fun!" "This is my second DDO with Riki. Once we arrived at Rockbridge Memorial Park she was very anxious to get out of my vehicle. We walked around for quite awhile. Riki pulled on the leash initially, but as time went by she stopped pulling. She would occasionally look back at me while walking. When I sat down on a bench Riki would either sit down close to me and lean into me or she would lay down. During our ride to Andy's Riki was nervous again. She enjoyed her ice cream puppy cup though. She got very close to me on our ride back and remained anxious. We sat in my vehicle in the parking lot for awhile after arriving at CHMS, and Riki got on my lap. I wrapped my arms around her trying to mimic a Thundershirt, and she immediately calmed down and gave me kisses. When one takes riding in a car out of the equation, Riki is a very sweet, calm and affectionate dog." "Riki is a very good girl. She is young and full of energy. Once we arrived at Rockbridge Memorial Park she was anxious to get out and explore. She walks well on a leash. She pulls once in awhile to explore something that caught her eye or nose. She will sit when asked, but not every time. One time she got between my legs and laid down looking straight ahead. After we left the park she was much less anxious and wanted to sit close to me. She took her time eating the ice cream puppy cup and ate all of it. Interestingly she was not interested in dog treats. Riki clearly did not want to return to the shelter. She did not bark, but it took some effort to get her back in her kennel. Riki is a very sweet, friendly and affectionate dog. It takes her a little while to settle down after leaving the shelter, but when she does she's great." "Riki is a sweet ball of energy who's eager to be your best friend. She may come off as too hyper at first, but can enjoy the calmness with you for hours at a time after the initial excitement. She loves chasing the wildlife on the trails, being rubbed down anytime, and can ford creeks with the best of them. While in town, she loves to play tug of war and fetch tennis balls. And if the toy squeaks, all the better." "Riki is very friendly and loving! She is full of energy and does not tire easy but she is very gentle during playtime. She is happy to meet new people and dogs to share her love with. Riki is the perfect adventure buddy!" "Riki is a sweet pup. Once she gets past her initial nervousness, she is a ball of energy. She will jump from excitement but is otherwise very sweet and gentle. She loved to play tug-o-war and fetch. She wanted hugs and pets from everyone at the facility. Listens really well and learns fast."

Story
Blue is a handsome, energetic guy! He's looking for a home where he was room to run and play. In his previous home, he did live with a senior cat, but he was sometimes a bit much for her. Blue is ready for an active family to welcome him in! From his most recent adopter: Blue loves to stay active . Great with children (older children as he gets too excited around younger ones). Absolutely adores chasing his tennis ball and going for long walks in the creek/ trails . He's allergic to beef I don't give him any red meats in his dog food - only chicken as that keeps his tummy good !
