Story
Rufus was my father's dog who got passed down to me. He is a good dog but my wife and I are working long hours to make ends meet and can't afford to have a dog sitter while we are at work and the poor guy just needs some more people around. He does have trouble with being alone and he does have a bit of a limp from an old leg injury. He would prefer to be an outside dog he isn't a fan of being couped up in confined spaces. But he is a loving and protective dog who loves to play.

Story
Nera is a great pup. Her birthday is 10/18/2024, so she’s just over 6 months old. She’s very playful and energetic although she does tend to wind down in the evenings on the couch. She plays fetch and she’s a good leash walker. She knows sit, stay, here, fetch, drop it, leave it and is learning down. With a baby coming soon, we worry about the time we’ll be able to devote to not only her play but her training for obedience as well. Were looking to rehome her to someone who wants a playful pup. She’s house broken, but not without her accidents along the way so she still spends her evenings in a crate while we sleep. With Nera, we will provide her crate, an outdoor 4x8 kennel for daytime play and small supplies like a 6-way leash and play items. No cost for Nera or her things. We regret that we’re not going to have her in our family anymore but we want to make this an easy choice for her next family.

Story
If you are interested, you MUST complete the application. We will only set up meet and greets with an approved application. Pixie is one of 10 small defenseless little dogs that was dumped in the middle of many many acres of nothing but soybean and corn fields. What a horrible fate for these dear sweet babies. Animal Control was called and they called PAWS to see if we could assist with trying to catch them and take them in. We have spent over two weeks (at the time of this post) and managed to catch 7 of them. We are still working to catch the last two that we can find and have not seen the 10th one since the first day. These babies have been through quite the ordeal and are now ready to go on to homes where they will be loved and doted on. They are all shy at first and definite flight risks so they will not be adopted to homes with children and will require that the adopter have a fenced yard. This beautiful girl, Pixie, is very shy and will take someone with lots of love and patience to win her over. She came around very quickly with me but gets very scared if anything in her environment changes or if she is taken to a new environment (such as the vet). She is a very loving little girl who wants to be loved so badly but just can't forget that humans have not been kind to her. She is still very afraid of fast movements. She will do well with other other dogs as long as they are her size or smaller and allow her to be the boss. She is about 11 lbs and we guestimate that she was born around 07/01/2018. Her adoption fee is $350.

Story
Cynthia was in a home with several other dogs, most likely all related from various litters. Her owner called to see if we could take some of the dogs as he just couldn't take care of so many. Cynthia is a beautiful 6 lb girl who does well with other dogs her size. She is very timid of new people and will bite or nip if cornered. She has learned fairly quickly that I want to love her and be her friend so she has gotten pretty comfortable with me. She gives the best kisses and loves to be held once she trusts you. Her new home will require a fenced yard and someone with patience and hopefully some experience with extremely shy dogs. She does love her treats so that is helpful in getting her to understand that no one will harm her. She is believed to have been born around 11/01/2021. She needs a home that is quiet without a lot of visitors and no children under 18. If you think you are a good fit for her, please go to pawspaws.org to complete the application. Please note: if our babies are still pictured, they are still available for an application. Also, the Petfinder Inquiry is not the PAWS application so please be sure to complete the PAWS application if you would like to be considered. Her adoption fee is $300.

Story
Oliver was surrendered to an Animal Control facility because his owner was neglecting him. He was so scared and untrusting when he first arrived but was also so wanting of attention and affection. He was a bit standoffish and reactive to quick movements for a couple of days but he quickly gave kisses when I sat quietly with him and just let him be. He is a great little guy who weighs about 22 lbs and is believed to have been born around 11/20/2016. He just needs a little love, patience and kindness in a quiet home with no children. So far, he has been good with the other small dogs that he has been in a playgroup with but they are always supervised. This boy has SO much love to give and I just pray someone with open their heart to him and give him the chance to be loved that he has never had until he arrived at PAWS. He is neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, Heartworm negative and on preventative, and had a dental on 12/06/2024. His adoption fee is $200. If interested in becoming his family, please go to pawspaws.org to complete the application. Thanks so much for your interest!

Story
Stella was found as a stray and taken in by an Animal Control Officer. No one came to claim her and her 10 day hold was running out. We appreciate the folks who cared for her until we could get her. She does have a bit of hair loss but we have had her tested and she does not have mange - just a reaction to the flea infestation. We are working on getting her skin healed and, in the meantime, are enjoying getting to know this precious girl! She is truly a treasure. She is a year old and is a happy, sweet, smart and funny girl. She weighs just 19 lbs and is full grown. She is spayed, microchipped, HWT and had her rabies vaccine. We have introduced her to a few of the smaller dogs and she has done ok with them so far. Her adoption fee is $300. If interested in adopting her, please go to pawspaws. org to complete the PAWS application. Meet and greets will be set up only after we have an approved PAWS application. Please note, you have to leave this site and log onto pawspaws.org to do the application. The Petfinder Inquiry is not our application. Thanks so much for your interest!
