Story
Bessie is the black lab in the photo. She is still hoping for a forever home for what remaining time she has left. Bessie is a LOVE BUG with humans. Just melts with attention. She's a food hound and can be mouthy when taking treats, but otherwise she's a gentle girl. Bessie is good with other dogs, but does need a slow intro period. She's just nervous and can bark/try to scare the other dog off at first. Once she knows they aren't out to attack her she's fine. Bessie is a sweetheart and is probably 12+ years old. She was heartworm positive and we did the slow treatment method. She also had a couple small lumps removed, they weren't cancerous. She can be stiff at times, but she's overweight and older so that's to be expected. Some arthritis medication as needed is a good idea. Bessie's adoption fee is waived. She just wants a home. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. Story
Updated Bio as of June 2023: Jupiter was originally found as a lost pup with her 2 brothers in a corn field during winter. She nearly froze to death, she was so cold she couldn't run/move quickly and people were able to catch her. They were all very thin and had to fight to survive with the coyotes out there. Jupiter is learning to trust humans and will be a happy dog around me but still skittish over touch. With new people she will take time to warm up for sure. Jupiter's adoption fee is sponsored. She is ok with other dogs but initially acts like she's aggressive. It's the survival mode in her. Once she knows they aren't going to hurt her she warms up. She will need to be fed separately from other animals. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters. If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. Not good with cats,
Story
If you're looking for that bully breed smile and cuddling personality then Sadie is your girl! She's all love and wiggles with humans and doesn't know a stranger. She is good with most other dogs, but can be over reactive to high arousal situations. Meaning no dog parks for this girl. She loves to play with toys and will throw the toy and chase it down herself. She loves her people and wants to be with you. She doesn't like cats and she's nervous in new situations. Sadie came from a terrible hoarding situation. (https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/ray-county-sheriffs-office-breaks-up-puppy-mill-50-to-70-dogs-found-on-property) she is looking for a forever home willing to give her stability, rules, and help her be her best self. Sadie is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Socially Imperfect but now AVAILABLE - ROCKY Rocky was living a forgotten life. He was never allowed outside, not taken on walks, and never exposed to anything beyond the four walls of his indoor pen. He was surrendered to a vet clinic that had him for several months. They had a difficult time getting him adopted due to his shyness. He finally found a home and then he escaped immediately. He was so scared that he freaked out over the change and managed to slip his leash and was running scared. Volunteers and employees of the vet clinic were able to catch him and he was returned to the clinic. He was there for another several months. They weren't having any luck placing him and they were considering euthanizing him because of his fear/anxiety and unlikelihood of finding him a home. A rescue friend begged us to take this fellow and we did. The first few months were so scary for our friend Rocky. A leaf blowing on a tree would make him duck and run, but with time he has blossomed. Rocky meets new people and learns to trust so much quicker now. He is super affectionate, likes to jump up to give a hug, and loves to run around the yard with the other dogs. Rocky deserves a forever home for what time he has left. He'd appreciate a slow intro to his new home, but honestly he's doing SOOO much better with new things/new yards/new people he might settle in pretty quickly. Rocky's ideal home has understanding people willing to give him time to adjust to things and must have another happy/friendly dog for him to befriend. Rocky is at least 10 years old, he may be older. Please consider giving him a forever home!!   At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. Story
I think the wrinkles are due to her extra puppy skin and she'll grow into that :) Trisha needs another dog in your home, she's much more comfortable if another dog is around. Trisha loves people and is nervous about new things/new places. Another dog she knows/trusts helps her over come that fear very quickly. She's only 3 months old right now and she has so much love to give. Please don't assume someone else will adopt this baby, if you are interested and can give her a forever home reach out to us!! We don't want her to grow up in rescue. Trisha's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, vaccines, and microchip. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters.
