Story
DOB: 12/24/19                              Weight: 75 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Indy is 75 pounds of cuteness and cuddles. He loves cuddling next you on a couch or bed. He does good on walks especially when walking trails away from cars and other dogs.  Not a fan of loud noises like fireworks or close thunder/lightning. CBD oil and thunder jackets help but only when he is leaning against you. Has not been around any cats or small children. He does good with teenagers and adults, but it takes time to feel safe around them. Ice cubes are his favorite, and he knows the sound of the ice machine. Knows when it is bedtime and just heads to sleep in his bed with his blanket. Likes to be tucked in his blanket at night. He knows the basic commands and knows to sit to wait for his food dish to be put down. Only toy he hasn’t destroyed in a few minutes is a size 5 soccer ball (slightly deflated). He does love to play fetch with a tennis ball and chase after the soccer ball.  Plays great with puppies and is gentle with them. Food can never be around because he resource guards his food from other dogs, so we feel he should be an only dog in his family because of this. He takes treats very gently.   Indy has been neutered, wormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting/adopting him just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Approx. DOB: 8/23/20                Approx Weight: 51 Lbs Adoption Fee: $200 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Rocky is very sweet, a little shy at first but warms up quickly. He can be goofy and silly sometimes. He is housebroken and crate trained, however if left alone for 8+ hours in a crate he becomes very stressed and will have accident. He has been started on a anti depressant that really helps his anxiety when left alone. He is calmer now and has had no accidents since starting it. He gets along well with other dogs, but does not care for large male dogs that try to dominate him. He is a lover and really doesn't want to fight so he tries to bluff his way out of them. He has done well with children at our Petco events but there are no children in his foster home.  He will need a fenced yard and would do best with someone that works from home or has someone at home most of the time. Rocky is a love bug and really enjoys being brushed, snuggled with and just hanging out with the family. Rocky is going to make some family a wonderful companion. I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Story
Approx. DOB: 3/12/21                Approx. Weight: 40 Lbs Adoption Fee: $200 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Callie can climb chain link fences so a wood or wrought iron fence would work best or a active family that will take her on walks. She loves going for walks, jogs and runs! Hi, I'm Callie.I am roughly 3.5 years old and full of lots of energy. I love my humans, especially the little ones - they're my favorite people. I love other dogs, but need to be in a home with other dogs my size because I sometimes forget how big I am compared to the little ones. I don't mind cats too much, but sometimes the scare me. I get a bath once a month and I need my nails trimmed every two weeks.I love to play outside, but it's best if a friend goes with me because I get the zoomie zooms and I can jump pretty high, sometimes over a fence or up a tree. I'm not quite sure about toys, but am slowly learning to play with them. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell if it's a dog toy or human toy, so I'll need help learning which ones are mine. I graduated from K-9 citizenship school and my trainer says I'm the best girl and I can sit, shake, laydown and sometimes stay, although we're still working on that. So sometimes I'll dart out the front door, so be sure to tell me to sit and stay before you open the door. I don't really mind the kennel for short periods of time if you give me something to chew on. I need help during the Fourth of July, the big booms really scare me, so please ask the doctor for medicine to help keep me calm.I love my kibble, but if you could make it wet in the morning - that's my favorite way to eat it. I eat about two cups of food a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I don't usually eat more than that, but on days that I'm extra active, I might need more. Callie was just treated for heartworms so it is very important that she stay on heartworm prevention year round for the rest of her life.  I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Story
Approx. DOB: 11/16/14                 Approx. Weight: 17 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Birmingham (aka Birmy) is a senior Pug mix (possibly with Boston Terrier) who came to Furry Kids after her Dad passed away. Birmy is in a foster home with dogs of all sizes and cats(she really needs a cat free hgome). She has always been an only dog and would probably do best with another low key dog. She loves her human and is very loyal to one person. She loves running and playing ball in her yard. Birmy is a really sweet dog but has her quirks. She needs a dog savvy owner that is more of a homebody.  She has developed a trust of her foster Mom and has even started to snuggle with her! No children or teens for Birmy. If another dog or person rushes her or she becomes overstimulated she will give a warning snap 'saying back off' but has never bitten to our knowledge. Birmy does ok on a leash but needs work. She needs a fenced yard. I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. UPDATED BIODOB: 4/13/24                          Ct Wht(as of 11/12): 35pds Adoption Fee: $275 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Fully Vaccinated! Lego is crate trained and almost housebroken but we will send a belly band home with his new family. This is great in case he does start to potty it keeps property dry and protected.  Lego has turned into a well adjusted,  gentle,  sweet young pup looking for his forever family.  Lego came to us from the Nevada  Animal  shelter. He is a good looking puppy.  He has beautiful eyes. Lego loves other dogs and he loves playing with all sizes but the little ones..... under 20pds can sometimes be overwhelmed with his playfulness. He would be a great playmate for a medium or large size dog.  Lego loves water! He has to put his paws in the water dish if not watched.  We have a kid size plastic pool that he loves to play in.  Lego will do great with most any family. Lego definitely sounds more like a hound when he barks! Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch. Story
COURTESY LISTINGPlease contact  Sam 816-616-0031 or Barb 816-229-8650 for more information! Brody and he will be six years old on September 21st.  He loves to be loved and wants all the attention in the world, but would prefer us not to get in his face. He likes small dogs, he is not very receptive to bigger dogs. He loves to play frisbee, and likes car rides, very afraid of thunderstorms, fireworks, & tools, but he feels safe in his kennel during those times. He is potty trained, and kennel trained. Brody is very protective of his food, so we feed him and leave him alone. He loves children, but because he is so protective of his food, maybe an adult home or an adult home with older children would suit him best, as that protectiveness might frighten young children. Brody was neutered on January 3, 2023.  He also had his teeth cleaned at that time. He likes kettle popcorn, and a little taste of cool whip once in a while. For more information, please contact  Sam directly: 816-616-0031, Barb 816-229-8650, or email packhamb@gmail.com.The animal listed on this page was listed as a courtesy to help find the animal a home.
