Story
Molly was abandoned three months ago and has been with us since. She is very young and playful and doesn't always realize how big she is. She gets along well with my cats but does chase them often but they are use to it and just smack her and she quits. It seems she just wants them to play with her. So far I have had a my other dog, a German Shepard, and my neighbors Pyrenees around her without any issues but she doesn't seem to understand every dog doesn't want to play all the time. She is kept in a kennel while I'm at work and just puts herself in there when I start getting my jacket on and is house broke. She is somewhat iffy with men at first. If any walk in my house she does need to be coaxed to get her to come near them but is then fine with them. She loves to be outside and we have a fenced in chain link yard but she can easily jump over. If I could contain her I would just keep her but I live in town and she loves to run around for an hour before coming home.

Story
Meet Ward! Ward is a gorgeous brindle Shepherd mix with an estimated DOB of 05/05/2016. He is a happy go lucky boy who is accustomed to leash walks, crate trained, likes other dogs (but we think he would do best in a home with older dogs or calm dogs. He doesn't seem to be a fan of smaller dogs). He doesn't like sharing food so would need to be fed separately. Ward knows commands, "sit", "up", and "shake". There is nothing this boy won't do for a treat. Although he isn't a pup anymore, this boy has quite the playful side, but he also enjoys being a couch potato. His ideal family will be gentle with him. He recently spent time in a foster home and does well with kids of all ages. He made himself right at home in her room in fact! He would be best in a home with no cats. All our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. Story
Gentle Ben's estimated DOB is 06/12/2015 and he's a white and brown Red Heeler. He was found tied to a boat with a steel cable - he had deep injuries on his neck as a result from this cable digging into his skin. Regardless of how badly he was treated in the past, Gentle Ben is a sweet and happy boy these days! Ben adores all the attention he can get from his humans! This gentle boy can be shy and hesitant to trust new people but once that bond is made he is right by your side. This gentle soul does well in a crate at night and when recently in a foster home needed a few reminders about house training but seemed to pick up quickly on it. Ben has been known to pester cats and small animals so would do best as the only animal in the home. Ben can jump a regular chain-link fences, so he will require a privacy fenced home or leash walks. We would love love love to see someone take a chance on this perfect boy. He has gotten so used to life at the shelter that he seems to have given up on the possibility of a forever home, and doesn't show his true self when he's out at adoption events or meeting new people. Those of us that he knows well can attest that he is truly the sweetest, goodest boy! All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647.

Story
Laker is a black and white Great Dane/Hound mix and her estimated DOB is 12/30/2017. Laker (who also knows the names Mia or Gracie) was adopted from the Haven but returned two years later, not due to any fault of her own, but because her owners were unprepared to train a dog with resource insecurity. You see, Laker gets along with other dogs fairly well, but she really needs her own space away from other dogs in her home, as she's protective of food, toys, and her bed. She'd do best with a free feeder so she can learn that food is not a limited resource. Laker also did excellent with the kids in her previous home and hasn't had any reaction to cats at the shelter! Her ideal forever home will be able to work around her quirks and provide her with her own space, such as a kennel in a separate room, or ideally not have any other dogs! We at the Haven know that this affectionate, loyal girl is absolutely worth it! All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647.

Story
Bark Wahlberg aka Crusher's DOB is 11/25/2019. He is a brown and white Redbone Coonhound/Cattle Dog. Crusher is a really handsome dog who was adopted as a cute little puppy back in 2019, but was returned recently for some bad habits that he picked up in his previous home. He's definitely a lot bigger than he was the last time he was here, and we suspect that his previous home was not able to provide the firm guidance and training necessary to help Crusher be the amazing pet we know he can be. From what we can tell at the Haven, Crusher would make an extremely loyal pet, but he takes quite a while and some coaxing to get used to new people. If you pet him before he really gets to know you, he gets pretty scared and has even snapped (albeit with soft warning bites and a big scary bark) at people who move too quickly with him. Luckily, Crusher's issues are totally fixable with a human who can be a strong leader in his life, and we know that for an experienced owner, he'll be an absolute breeze! DOB 11-25-19 All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647.
