Name: Bailey Age: 7 years Gender: Female Breed: German Shepherd mix Weight: 84 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes Housetrained: yes Crate Trained: not needed and prefers to be left out  Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, sidekick, loyal, intelligent Requirement: Not apartment appropriate  Adoption Fee: $250+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family: Bailey is a  marvelous dog who is also very smart, knows basic commands, and will even offer her paw for a friendly shake. She meshes well with our two dogs and has demonstrated that she's loyal, kind, and gentle. She walks politely on a leash, and quickly makes friends at the dog park too. Her backstory is sad because she was  rescued from a neighboring farm where she had been living in solute in a barn. When she first came to us, she was anxious and clingy from being left alone. She is now happy and healthy and loves others deeply. She currently is taking an allergy medication called Apoquel and doing well. She doesn’t need to be kenneled during the day or at night but would do well with someone home often.       December 21, 2024, 12:08 am

Story
Name: Tabbee Age: Young / DOB: 11/18/23 Gender: Female Breed: Shepherd mix  Weight: 55 pounds Dog friendly: Dog selective Cat friendly: No cats, please Child friendly: Yes (Any age) House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: Intelligent, playful, devoted, tender-hearted Requirement: Not apartment appropriate and seeking a petless adoptive home  Adoption Fee: $250+tax   From the Foster Family: Tabbee is a fantastic dog who came up to MN from down south in April! She has been so easy for a young dog. She is brilliant and wants to learn everything you're willing to teach her. With her treat drive, it's easy to teach her new things! Tabbee is potty trained (bell method) and knows to sit and lay down. She is currently working on "look" (looking the owner in the eye), "leave it", and "stay/wait". She's also learning loose-leash walking and all the good walking habits (like sitting at corners).    She would love to cuddle up and watch your favorite show with you she's more of a people dog and would do best in a home without other pets. Her favorite toys are chew toys, rope toys, and squeaky toys! She doesn't play tug so she flosses her teeth with the rope toys.    She does good in her crate when we're gone but she does not like to be left alone (some separation anxiety from before she came up to MN). For this reason, we think she'd do best in a home where someone is around most of the time.    About Me: Hiya! I'm Tabbee but my foster family calls me Tibby Tabbs because I tap dance when excited. I love playing with toys of all kinds.  And my absolute favorite activity is giving everyone KISSES! They're the best.    I LOVE being outside and rolling in the grass. I don't mind paw cleanings and baths, too! I'm a little nervous about nail trims, but when foster mom is gentle and speaks soothingly to me while she trims them, I don't mind so much. I've already learned new tricks and my foster parents are teaching me more. It's a lot of fun. I'd love to learn from you and your family!   December 23, 2024, 7:30 pm

Story
Name: Ediko Age: 1 year Gender: male Breed: Aussie/Lab/Heeler mix Weight: 44 lbs Dog friendly: yes  Cat friendly: yes, dog-savvy, cats Child friendly: yes, older respectful children, please House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: moderate but loves to take naps Temperament: spirited, sweet, playful Requirement: Not apartment appropriate but could be in a duplex or condo Adoption fee: $400 +tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family.    Hi, my name is Ediko, or Deke/Diko for short. I am currently hanging out with a cool foster family. I live with two other large dogs and am learning my role in the pack.  I am very laid back and submissive and love to play with my foster fur siblings.  They also have a small cat.  I have learned cats are friends and not food.  They are ok but don't play as much as the large dogs do.   I have tons of energy and would do better in a house with another dog or with active people. I LOVE my current fur siblings and want to play constantly, even if it involves laying on the floor next to them and chewing on their necks. I haven't met a dog that I didn't like!  I am still working on trusting new people. I may appear a little skittish at first, but once I trust you, you will learn I love snuggles and belly rubs. I love to play and snuggle with my foster parents, but it took a couple of days for me to trust them. So - you will need to be a little patient with me as I learn to trust you. When people want to pet me and gently approach me, I'm usually ok. If I get nervous, I back away but never get aggressive.  I like to look to my foster mom for approval.  If she says it's ok, I will proceed cautiously.   I absolutely love dog toys and bones to chew on.  When my foster family brings home a new squeaky toy I am like a kid in a candy store. I will throw that toy around and play with it for hours.  Well until I get the squeaker out.   I am 100% potty trained.  I like to sit by the door when I want to go outside. I am also kennel trained.  My foster family says they have to do this thing called work.  I willingly go into my kennel and rest till they get home.   This foster house also has 2 smaller humans.  While I prefer adults I am starting to trust these "children."  It has taken some time but I guess they are all right.   I adore sleeping with my foster mom.  She can be on a chair, lying on the couch, or in her bed.  Her lap is the best.  She tells me I am not a lap dog but I think she might not be the smartest human.  She says "Deke you are not a lap dog." Do I listen...NOPE, I just lay down and she accepts my snuggles eventually.  You see I have learned that consistency and persistence are the key.   My foster family feels that I would do best in a house with another dog.  I just love being with other dogs and like to fall in line with the pack.  I have learned a lot from these resident dogs about indoor living since I arrived back in June.   I gotta say indoor living is much better than living outside searching for my own food.   I am ready to find my forever family and I hope that could be you.  please apply today to meet me.  With time and love, I know I will be the best dog you never knew you needed in your life.  December 27, 2024, 3:02 pm

Whether it's a stroll through the park, the rustling leaves beneath her paws, or the wind blowing through her fur as she rides shotgun in the car, Cammie Bella finds joy in even the simplest moments.  At home, she has her favorite cozy spots—like the sunny patch on the living room floor or the snug corner of the couch where she can curl up and keep an eye on her humans. Story
Name: Moses Age: 2 years Gender: Male Breed: Terrier / Shepherd Mix Weight: 43 lb Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Testing available upon request Child friendly: Yes, older or dog-savvy kids preferred House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: Intelligent, alert, loyal Requirement:  Not apartment appropriate, but could be in a townhome or duplex. Adoption Fee: $375+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Moses is a playful and energetic young dog.  His favorite thing to do is chase balls in and outside the house.  If he has a rubber ball he can carry around with him everywhere, even better! When Moses is all tuckered out from playing, he loves to curl up next to you on the couch or at your feet for a snooze.  Moses is smart and catches on to commands quickly. He is both house and crate-trained. Moses is friendly with children and gentle but does get easily startled by very young children, so school-aged children in the home would be preferable. He gets excited to see his people and will bounce around in anticipation, but does not jump on people. Moses likes other dogs if given a proper introduction and personal space when he wants it.  Because he is on the small side, he is cautious around bigger dogs, but once he gets comfortable with them, will wrestle and play, as long as they don't try to steal his precious ball. Moses will be a great furry friend for anyone who will play fetch and then let him curl up in their lap!  Our special Moses has a condition called Pulmonic Stenosis which means his right ventricle is narrow causing the left ventricle to work a little harder to pump. He has seen a specialist twice over several months to observe for changes and there have been no changes or findings and he does not need any medications or other interventions. He's a healthy happy dog. About Me: Hi!  I am Moses and I have had quite a journey getting to Minnesota!  I took a very long ride in a van and finally made it up here, all the way from Alabama.  I have been in a couple of foster placements, so I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I won't let you out of my sight!  I love to follow my foster mom around the house and can't wait for her to sit down and give me lots of pets and affection.  Kids are cool too, but I think I'd prefer older ones that are dog savvy and gentle with my small size.  I like having dog playmates too, but what I love the most is my favorite ball!  I will fetch it and drop it for you to throw for me, but I can entertain myself too!  I like to drop it and let it bounce so I can scramble after it.  Burning all those calories playing fetch makes me very hungry, so I tend to eat fast!  My foster mom says that isn't good for my tummy, so now I get a fun bowl that slows me down and helps me take my time.  By the end of the day, I am tuckered out and content to curl up on a comfy pillow or blanket watching TV with the rest of the family. I am particularly fond of car rides and just curl up on the seat until we get to our next destination.  Will my next car ride be to my forever home?  I sure hope so!  November 11, 2024, 7:09 pm

She arrived in MN from Alabama and was rescued from the street with her mom and siblings. Although cautious at first, Baily warms up quickly to meeting new people. She LOVES to play with toys, the resident dogs, and the resident 13-year-old in the house.  She is brilliant and has learned a few simple commands very quickly!  She wants to please her people.  Also, she enjoys going for walks and is currently working on leash manners.  Though she loves to play, she is equally happy to snuggle up next to you on the couch for pets and belly rubs. About Me:  Hello everyone!  I am the total package!  Just look at my unique markings!!  I am playful and silly (so I'm told!) and love to engage others in playing with me! Also, I love my canine foster brothers and love meeting other dogs in the neighborhood.  One of my favorite things to do is to wake up the children in the morning by jumping in their beds and finding them under the covers!  I am quite shy when I meet new people, but with a little calm and patience, I will give you my trust and love! Please reach out to meet me! November 6, 2024, 9:18 pm
