Story
Snapshot of Rae! Size? King size (50-70 lbs.) Activity Level? I play hard and sleep hard! Noise Level? I like to alert people that something new is happening, but I quiet down quickly! Good with Dogs? I would do best as an only dog. Good with Cats? No cats please. Good with Kids? I love everyone but my energy and size are better suited with older kids. Good with Strangers? I need slow introductions. Potty Trained? I'm a pro! Crate Trained? Love my crate! About Rae: Hello - I'm Rae and I came to TCPR from a local shelter when nobody claimed me. Can you believe that no one came looking for me? Just look at my cute face!!! I know how to sit, down (lay), touch, shake, leave it, kennel and that the "uh-uh" sound means I'm doing something I probably shouldn't be. I'm working on learning how to play fetch and I love stuffies and my current favorites are bones and squeaky tennis balls. I go to my kennel for bedtime and when no one is home, and I hardly ever complain about it. I really enjoy walks and can go for multiple miles (weather permitting). I walk pretty well on leash as long as small animals like squirrels and rabbits don't cross our path, I just think they are so fun to chase! My foster home has a fenced yard and I love the freedom of running without being on a leash. I need regular exercise to burn off energy and keep me out of trouble! If I am able to burn some energy, I will gladly sleep with my head on your lap while you watch a movie. I would also do very well in an obedience class and would definitely benefit from one. I get very excited to meet new people but I don't trust their dogs and will bark to tell them to stay away. I used to share the house with a resident cat, we had met a few times but the cat didn't appreciate the energy I greeted her with and told me off with a swipe of the paw.. that doesn't deter my enthusiasm, so I may do better in a cat-free home. Because of my size and energy, I would do better in a home with older kids or adults, because my zoomies might knock over a small child. If you're looking for a buddy to sit out on the patio at your local brewery or meet ups at the dog park, we might not be a great match. However, if you want a walking buddy and can throw a ball around for me, I think we could be perfect together. Would you like to be my forever family? Rae is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for her age. Level 1 Obedience training is required. Twin Cities Pet Rescue has reduced Rae's Adoption Fee to $100 + applicable taxes to help her find her well deserved forever home who will continue to work with her and provide her with training to help with her anxiety and reactive behavior. Story
Snapshot of Trooper: Size: Large, 75lbs Activity Level: High Noise Level: moderate barking but quiet in the house Good with Dogs: yes Good with Cats: unknown Good with Kids: No Good with Strangers: Skittish and slow introduction but warms up quickly. Potty Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Shedding: Yes Hi my name is Trooper: I think I'm pretty much a pure German Shepard but its tough to tell because nobody knows where I came from. I was found on the streets, severely underweight and in pretty bad shape, but finally got taken into rescue and was given some much-needed love and care. During this whole journey, they told me that I am likely almost 5 years old and although I was skinny at the time, they helped me get back to a normal weight of about 75lbs. Being on the streets made me pretty weary of new people, so I am not a huge fan of strangers and don't like being approached. Because of this, I don't think I would do the best around young kids; however, after you give me some time to check you out, I do warm up quick. I haven't been around many cats, but I do know that I am a fan of playing with the dog friends my family has introduced me to. Aside from some of my skittish behaviors and fear towards new people, I actually am very smart. My foster parents tell me that I am one of the smartest dogs they know and love making me do all these ridiculous things. I know the basic commands like sit, shake, stay, and lay down, but also know a few others like when to place on my mat and can go to my kennel when being told...usually. I also am big fan of play wrestling with my foster parents but am still working on calming myself down when they tell me they're done. I can get a little mouthy (I call them teeth kisses) but have learned that this is a bad trait to have, so I have been working hard to stop doing that as well. I can definitely keep up with an energetic lifestyle and love to play and go on walks. When I am not playing, I don't mind lounging around. I typically like staying near my people and making sure I know what is happening at all times, and definitely love some cuddles and belly scratches. Overall, I know there are some things I need to work on, but I am convinced that if someone can continue to work with me, I can make a great companion. I love being outside so would love a place where I can still explore the yard and have room to run around. I wouldn't mind sharing a house with another pup as long as they can manage playing rough sometimes. While I might not do great in a crazy home with kids and tons of new people, I would love to be someone's buddy for life. Trooper is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Adoption Fee: $100 + applicable tax (This adoption fee discount is sponsored by Twin Cities Pet Rescue to help Trooper find his well deserved forever home) Trooper is currently on medication for skin allergies. TCPR will send him to his adoptive home with 3 months of allergy meds for free! With his reactivity and anxiety he will need further training and possibly medication to help him. Snapshot of Scruffington: Size? Small Activity Level? I play hard and snuggle harder! Noise Level? Usually quiet - but sometimes I will bark to let you know when something is happening. Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? No Good with Kids? Unknown Good with Strangers? Yes! Potty Trained? Yes Crate Trained? Still learning, sometimes I bark when I first go into my crate but I quiet down. Shedding? Some About Scruffington: Hi, my name is Scruffington and I am a loving 2 year old chihuahua/terrier mix. I get very excited when I meet new people! I love to jump up and lick them so they pay attention to me, and I can get excited and bark at others on walks. I generally do well with dogs, but I can get jealous when other animals get more attention or food than me. This has caused me to have issues with the cat in my foster home, and I try to lunge at her but have never bitten. I am in the process of learning to sit, but I know that I get treats when I do. :) My humans are my favorite entertainment and I am constantly wanting their attention to play, chase and give me pets. If you stop paying attention to me I will probably lick your legs, hands, or face. My current foster family has a big front window I love to watch squirrels from, and I am a good boy who doesn't usually bark while observing. Once I am eventually worn out, you'll find me curled up under the blankets. My ideal home would be one without other animals so I can have the spotlight. I love to chase squirrels and play, so having a family who likes to be outside would be amazing! I care about my humans and don't like being put in my crate for long periods of time. Please let me cuddle with you all night! I can't wait to meet you! Scruffington is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Good with Cats: Unknown Good with Kids: Unknown Good with Strangers: Working on it Potty Trained: 99% Crate Trained: I don't really like my crate. Shedding: Minimal About Yoyo Yoyo is a young male chihuahua mix, we think about 2 years old with lots of energy. Gets along with the other small dogs in the house, attention is his reward! Working on comfort levels with men, not sure about cats or kiddos. Yoyo loves to be right at your heels, and is a fantastic jumper and climber! He will take your love over a treat any day and has been working on sharing attention with the other pups in the house. Yoyo also loves snuggles, and will curl up with the other dogs for movie night. Leash walking is going well, working on confidence (he gets a little scared of moving cars and too many noises, but will let you know he'd rather be held when he's overwhelmed). Fetch and tug are super fun, zooming around the yard and talking to the neighbors makes him happy too! Yoyo is full of energy and such a great little guy. He will need to keep working on basic commands like sit, stay and down. We have been working on not "doordashing and he is eager to please, positive reassurance and consistent gentle redirection goes a long way with him. Yoyo loves snuggling and kisses, and would love to continue working on new skills and tricks with you! Yoyo is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for their age.
