Story

Phinney is a special dog with a big heart. He turned 8 on September 4th. We planned to adopt a puppy from a litter he fathered, but we fell in love with him. Due to a genetic eye condition, his breeder could no longer use him for breeding, and in January 2019 he joined us While we aren’t sure of the extent of his condition, we do know that he has some vision impairment. This can make him a little skittish on walks, especially around loud noises.Despite this, he is affectionate and loving. He does have a few special needs, including IBS, which causes accidents in the house, though he is trained to go outside. With two young children,one curious toddler and one who is about to start crawling,it has become difficult for us to keep up with his care alongside the needs of our family Phinney is a sweet, gentle boy who deserves attentive and patient home where he can thrive. We love him deeply but we know he would do best with a family that can give him the extra care and attention he needs.

However, Barney is a sensitive soul who has been through several transitions recently, and he can get easily overwhelmed or worried about changes in his environment. He tends to be cautious around new people and unfamiliar places, so hell need a patient adopter who can offer him a slow, gentle introduction to new experiences. Barney is also a bit unsure of new dogs at first, but with time and a thoughtful introduction, he can build strong friendships. Once he feels comfortable, his playful and silly side shines throughhe loves romping around and playing games of chase and tag with his doggy friends! Barney is looking for a calm, understanding home that will give him the time and space he needs to settle in and build trust. If youre ready to provide this sensitive, affectionate boy with the gentle care he deserves, Barney could be the perfect companion for you! If you would like to learn more, stop by MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter. We have open adoption hours 11:30am-5pm daily no appointment or application needed. Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat areas will remain open to walk through.
