Story
We love Opal but our living situation has changed and my long work hours are not fair to her. She is blind in one eye and has a numbed leg from before we got her. It has not affected her mobility. She’s a seeet girl. Would be best with older kids that understand how small she is.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant. Are you interested in a dog who is not yet listed? Have you already spoken to an RORR volunteer about an unlisted dog? If so, please select 'Unlisted Dog' from the dropdown menu on the 'which animal are you interested in' question on our dog application and we will be in contact with you about him. If you have questions about 'Unlisted Dog', please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:13 pm

He is fully obedience trained (including sit-stay, down-stay, heal, loose-leash-walking, “place,” etc…) and loves working with his humans. He is an expert at running agility courses and is always up for a new challenge. He is so smart and obedient, he almost became a search and rescue dog! If you want a buddy who can motivate you and keep up with you while you go for a long run, take a challenging hike, go for a bike ride, or just spend time with you outdoors, and then come home and snuggle with you on the couch, Heath is the right dog for you! Heath adores every person he has ever met, and he really enjoys a good cuddle and some love, and seeing him smile ear to ear will always brighten your day. He really enjoys playing fetch and tug-of-war. He loves training and working through his obedience cues. He is high energy and would love to live in a yard with a 6 foot fence so he can gallop and play around with you at home. Heath loves other dogs and would do best with another dog who is as playful and goofy as he is, he could also make a great only dog. He would love to live with a family with older children, a couple, or to be the best buddy to a single owner. Don’t let his middle-age fool you, Heath is a young dog in his heart, body, and soul. He is always ready to jump right into a new adventure with a big grin, high-hopes, and a whole heart. Everyone who works at the boarding facility where he currently lives, wants to take him home, he is just that charismatic and sweet. If you think Heath may be right for you, please come on by and see him. Don’t miss out on this one. He’d be so happy to meet you!   No cats!!!!  If you are interested in Heath, please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com      *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:13 pm

A note from his foster:  He’s perfectly well-behaved in the house. House-trained, gentle and happily goes into his crate at night or when asked. He’s smart and knows some commands. Seems to take satisfaction from pleasing humans, with just enough personality to make you laugh. He knows enough to test boundaries, but quickly course-corrects. This pup is grateful for getting the pets and is thrilled with the bully-rub.  He’s happy to nap by your feet during work calls, lay in the sun, and eager to go for walks. Good on a leash. Happy to sit for his harness and takes commands well when leaving the house. His prey drive is high — gets too excited about squirrels, most birds, other critters that scurry. He’s not well-suited for other dogs. Or cats.  He’s got some hound in his mix; loves to sniff and on the occasions when a siren would pass he would sing along. (Adorable.) Not a crazy barker, but can sound fierce when he does bark. He’s more of a gentle giant with humans. Did just fine with new people coming into the home. Sheds a lot!  Harley would live his best life in a home where he’s the only pet. A privacy-fenced yard to run free in would be nice, I suspect, but he’s seemingly just as happy to live in a city and go for walks a few times a day. Contact with other dogs would have to be limited.  He’s the perfect dog if you’re looking for a loyal best friend, and don’t have other pets.  Due to his being dog selective, we will only place Admiral in a home with childern 14 and older. If you are interested in Admiral, please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com      *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:13 pm

He has a very Golden retriever personality. Still young, at only 2 and a half, he has not known a lot of love in his few years on earth. While not having been mistreated, he was more rather ignored, and as soon as you meet him you realize his main goal in life is to be loved for the good boy that he is. He has lived with several other dogs and done very well with them, but he longs to have human companionship. After waiting for two years, we think he deserves the very best! Perhaps that 'best' will be you! Even though Rosa was missing some hair and hasn't been taken the best care of, someone taught her how to sit and shake hands. She's a sensitive girl who was been upset by losing her family and is comforted by the presense of her foster mom. She would even happier in her very own home with a new family!Rosa is a strong girl who will need a physically capable adopter as she can pull pretty hard on leash. She has been reactive to other dogs and cats in her foster home so being an only child will set her up to be the most successful! We know there are so many great people out there how love rotties! We just need to find one that will give Rosa the happy ending we want for her!A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Rosa, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
