Story
Meet Luna! Luna has returned to Miri's Haven after more than a year in her adoptive home. Her owner had a medical issue and her family was unable to care for Luna. Luna returned to us completely bewildered, unsure what just happened, and with a few extra pounds that we're helping her shed with time and care. She loves sunbathing, snuggling, and taking long naps with her favorite people. She's housetrained and gets along beautifully with the other dogs in her foster home as well. Luna is approximately 9 years old and 12 lbs. Fostered in Severn, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Miso, the adorable creamy-white boy with an abundance of love to give. At just 8-10 weeks old and under 5 pounds, he's a tiny bundle of joy with a remarkable spirit. Despite a rough start involving starvation and neglect, Miso has shown incredible resilience and a courageous, open heart. He’s now a picture of health, full of happy curiosity and energy. He loves to pounce on his toys, explore his surroundings, and most of all, clamber onto any available lap for a snuggle. Miso is expected to remain small, likely topping out around 10-15 pounds. His bright eyes see the world as a place of wonder, and he’s ready to bring his complete devotion and abundance of joy to his forever home. His adoption fee covers all initial care, including puppy shots, rabies vaccination, deworming, and his neuter surgery when he's 6 months old. While Hedgesville Hounds prefers a securely fenced yard and is cautious about homes with small children or large dogs, we evaluate every application individually. Open your heart and home to this affectionate, smart, and trusting puppy, and prepare for a lifetime of happy memories. Story
Meet Titan! Titan is the sweetest Yorkie gentleman with eyelashes that will melt any heart and manners better than most people on their best behavior. Because his humans are military and being stationed in Asia, they made the heartbreaking but responsible choice to get him into a rescue that can find him a family who will love him as much as they have. Titan is a sweet boy who loves snuggles and affection. He has been deeply loved, well cared for, and it shows. Titan is affectionate, happy, loving, patient, and smart. He loves treats, being close to his person, and being showered with love and attention. When he's excited, he spins in circles of joy, and should you be momentarily distracted from adoring him, he'll paw at you in the cutest way to get your attention back on him. Titan is looking to join a forever family where he is loved like the little king he is, included in daily activities, and given endless snuggles and attention. He would thrive the most in a home that is generally calm and quiet, has a fenced yard, and can provide him with structure and routine. In return, he will alert you whenever someone is at the door. He would love his humans to be home most or all of the time, and who will take him on lots of walks and fun adventures. Titan has PLE (Protein-Losing Enteropathy ~ basically when the GI tract says “what if… we didn’t keep protein?”). But his loving family caught it early, got him on meds, and switched his diet. It will require long-term management, incuding medication and a special diet, but he's healthy, happy, and thriving. He's mostly housebroken (he uses pee pads indoors), a great passenger in the car, and sleeps through the night (his preference is in bed snuggled up with his people). He's great on the leash, great with kids and other dogs, and doesn't mind staying home alone when his humans have to pop out. All Titan needs now is a place to call home once again and a family who will treasure him again. Could it be yours? Titan is approximately 10 years old and 7 lbs. Story
Meet Zo! This sweet dachshund girl is the most breathtaking little queen you've ever seen. Zo arrived at the shelter in the arms of an elderly man who adored her for all 16 of her years. Her family cared for her with devotion, but age caught them faster than it caught Zo. Her dad had recently suffered a stroke and could no longer meet her needs. Zo is settling in beautifully. She eats like a champ, toddles around happily, and is busy sampling every dog bed in the house like a petite, elderly Goldilocks. Deaf from birth, Zo is understandably a bit head shy when surprised. But she's gentle, great with the other dogs, and already turning every heart to mush. Zo is approximately 16 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Alexandria, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Rocco! Rocco is a Frenchie of substantial girth and even more substantial vibes. Rocco is a devoted little sidekick who moves at a very dignified, very unhurried pace. He’s essentially a snail with feelings. Rocco will follow you from room to room, eventually, and settle in for premium snuggles once he’s made his journey from the other room. No mayhem. No zoomies. Just loving stares, naps, and quiet companionship. He’s happiest being close to his person ~ your shadow, your couch buddy, your emotional support potato. Other dogs? They’re fine, he supposes, and he's happy to use them as pillows. Humans though? Elite. Rocco is the easiest, happiest old man you’ll ever meet, though he sometimes struggles with his indoor plumbing situation. He’s freshly neutered (so we’re hoping that helps!), but for now, let’s just say the belly band is more of a suggestion than a rule for him - Houdini himself would be impressed by Rocco’s escape artistry when it comes to these contraptions. As for his personality? A+ character: - Zoomies after baths (approximately 1.5 MPH). - Unintentionally deaf and occasionally “selectively blind.” - Will walk into walls, doors, or just wander off dramatically. - Refuses to use stairs, prefers to be carted around like he’s room service. - Enjoys car rides, naps in sunny spots, slow (very slow) strolls, and the concept of snacks. - Believes in doing absolutely nothing, beautifully. Comfy beds are also a must, though sometimes he only makes it halfway in. Rocco is a “whatever” kinda guy ~ happy to live life one slow, wobbly hop at a time, as long as he's with you. While his normal speed is 1MPH, he will speed up to 1.5MPH if he loses sight of you, and will even trot up to you once he finally finds you again - which is his equivalent of breaking the sound barrier. He loves being near his human(s) as much as possible, so he's looking for a family of snugglers who will be home with him most of the time (and will let him out for frequent potty breaks to avoid accidents). If you’re looking for a slow, steady, deeply loyal best friend who believes quality time means existing near you at all times, Rocco is ready to waddle into your heart. Rocco is approximately 10 years old and 33lbs. Fostered in Alexandria, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Zipper! This distinguished gentleman and professional blanket connoisseur is all about love, naps, and excellent vibes. Zipper is the epitome of calm and relaxed. He lovings being as close to his humans as possible and adores being held. When arms and laps aren't available he'll happily burrow into a blanket and snooze until it's time for his next meal. Next to his humans, blankets are his absolute favorite. Zipper's idea of heaven is being held by his human while also wrapped in a blanket...pure bliss. He also loves kisses and is happy to give them right back! Zipper loves food and treats, and has impeccable manners. Fully house-trained, he's happy to use pee pads and will also let you know when he needs to go out. He's great in the car, sleeps through the night, and is happy to stay home alone when his people are out. He gets along with everyone - men, women, dogs, cats, kids. He has dry eyes and needs eyedrops twice a day, but he takes them without a fuss like the gentleman he is. He needs a lift going up and down stairs, but as far as he's concerned that just means more opportunities to be held. Zipper is so maintenance - all he asks for is love, affection, and a few treats. He deserves nothing but the best for his golden years - could you be the one to give it to him? Zipper is approximately 11 years old and 7 lbs. More details to comeas we get to know him better.
