Story
Ollie is a sweet boy we adopted as a puppy. He will be 8 in July. He is about 80 pounds. We have health issues and a special needs child that are impacting our ability to keep him and would love to find a new loving home that he can enjoy his remaining years with. He is well behaved and has never destroyed furniture, clothing, shoes, etc. He loves to play with his toys. He does not steal food from counters or the table. Common with the part lab he is, Ollie has had some ear infections but changing his food has helped a lot so we can recommend his food. He also has had knee surgery and recovered quickly from that a few years ago. He loves to run and be outside. He enjoys sleeping in his open crate or on his bed. If you let him, he would love to lay on couch or bed with you. He loves a good pet and cuddle. He is very defensive of our home and has behavior concerns a new home must be prepared for which we would be happy to discuss. Please contact us!

Story
Daisy is a great dog! Unfortunately, my lifestyle no longer is beneficial for her well being. She is left home a lot more than I would like. She is very happy to be around people and be outside. She loves car rides, walks and napping. She is not a barker and is very well behaved. She would be a great family dog. I was able to bring her into our office as our "emotional support" dog for everyone, but we sadly changed office space that is now not dog friendly. She will be a great addition to someone's life, she deserves so much more than I can provide her.

Story
Hi my name is Curly and I have a great story to tell. I am a good boy that’s shy and unsure at first. People, car rides, and loud noises scare me. So I need a home that is quiet and 1-2 people at most would be best. I do great with other dogs, they bring me out of my shell. I know I’m not for everyone but I am the right one for the special person, who can work with me and go at my slow pace, who won’t get frustrated that the world is sometimes scary to me and I need time and help figuring it out. I really want to be loved and give you love, it will just take time, trust, and understanding. I am kennel trained, house trained, and like the backyard. Leash walks are not my favorite but I am working on that. Since I am scared, I like to be able to go in and out of my kennel when I am scared or just feel like it. If you want a special dog that’s not like everyone else, but will always hold a special place in your heart…. I am your boy! I have been around dogs and cats with no issues. I've also been around kids, but I prefer to keep to myself when little ones are around. I'm also crate and housetrained, neutered, heartworm negative, and have age-appropriate vaccinations!  If you're interested in adopting, please email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.comAugust 20, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
Hi, my name is Moe! If you are looking for a special dog, you are barking up the right tree! What makes me special is that life started out a little shaky for me and has left me more nervous and scared than the average dog. With time, understanding, patience, and building trust I will open up and be the best companion you could want! As the saying goes, I stick to the 3’s. I need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks of a consistent routine and time to learn it & 3 months to start feeling at home. At first, I am more comfortable with other dogs and people really scare me, so I would do best with an outgoing friendly dog in the house to show me how to feel comfortable and confident. As time goes on, I get more used to humans but would do best in a single-person home or just a couple (too many people or a lot of children will be too much for me). I like my kennel and my safe dark space. I will come around and hang out more when I trust it is safe. I am kennel trained and working on being better with the leash. If you are looking for an amazing but special dog who needs a little bit of a calmer lifestyle, I am your man!!!! Email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.com for more info! Story
Meet Watson, a 3.5 year old Corgi looking for his forever home. He was surrendered by a family who could no longer care for him and we know a great deal about him. He has lived with older kids, cats and dogs. He is house and crate trained, leash and harness trained, and has a few cues under his belt. Watson weighs approx 20 lbs. He would do best in a home with herding breed experience and a moderate to active lifestyle. He did not get the socialization he needed as a pup which has led him to be anxious in new situations and environments. We believe he would do best in a home with a medium to larger sized dog that is friendly and balanced who could help him along his way to feeling more confident. He is super sensitive to the energy around him, so slow and steady will be key to integrating him with his forever family. He is not an agility candidate but would thrive with trick training, rally, obedience, and all the reward based training methods. His people described him as a “ride or die” guy who would bond deeply with folks who are patient and can meet his mental and physical needs. He is neutered, chipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventatives. If you are interested in meeting Watson or another of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they all are cared for in our wonderful foster network. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Story
Newest update: December 2024 Georgie is a beautiful one year old girl who came to us as an older pup with her mother and siblings. They all have been adopted and are doing well. Georgie has taken more time to come out of her shell and is now so comfortable with her family, you can see in the pictures that she loves the humans and dogs and their routine. Her foster mom works from home so Georgie is lucky to have very little alone time and she has a canine brother who has become her good buddy. Georgie's biggest needs will be a family that can work on building her confidence as new experiences can still a challenge for her. Georgie unfortunately gets car sick but Benadryl seems to help and we think in time, building up from short trips to good experiences will help with that. Her foster mom says, " I love how sweet and gentle she is. She has this cute little face and she has one ear the points straight out to the side and the other flops over. She loves affection. She loves a lap to bury her face in and just wants you to cuddle. I love how she sleeps on her back with her legs either tucked in or out straight, she's such a good girl!" If you have interest in meeting Georgie or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved. Thank you for considering rescue!
