Hey, I`m BrunoIf you`re looking for a friend to keep you entertained, protected, and never leave your side, I`m your guy! I`ve been misunderstood in the past, but I`m really looking for a home where I can feel safe and understood. I`m in need of a strong advocate, and a patient human to give me time to warm up, but once we click I`ll stand by your side through thick and thin, comfort you when you`re down, and brighten your day with all my playful antics.*Experienced Owner* Rural Living* NO kids or dogs*Mr. Steal your Heart.Bruno has yet to try a snack he didn`t love, thrives off routine and consistency and loves a good squeaky toy. His uncertain past has made him wary of strangers but he has made leaps and bounds here, making new friends every day. He is a loyal boy in need of the right person to keep him on track to becoming the best dog we know he can be.Bruno may look tough but he is truly a real softie who loves belly rubs and is equal parts brawn + brain. You get the best of both worlds with this guy, he is active and playful then will follow up with a good snuggle on the couch and an afternoon snooze.Bruno isn`t currently viewable from our dog adoption rooms, because of this he often gets overlooked at the shelter. If you are interested in Bruno please ask staff about him, he will require multiple visits in order to get comfortable with new friends.

Story
Meet Mandy! This sweet and spunky girl is back at the Bangor Humane Society and ready for her next adventure. Originally found as a stray, she was adopted after our 2022 Paws on Parade event, but sadly, she`s returned because the match just wasn’t quite right. Now, Mandy is on the lookout for her perfect fit!Mandy is a high-energy, loving gal who would thrive with an experienced dog owner. She’s not a fan of dog parks or doggie friends, so she`s best as the only animal in the home. Mandy has some stranger danger and can get protective of her people, so her dream place would be a low visitor and low foot traffic home where she can be her loyal self with older teens or adults who truly understand her. All humans in the home must meet with Mandy before an adoption can take place.Mandy is more than what meets the eye! She’s got a sharp mind and a heart full of love. Not only does she handle a leash like a pro and enjoy car rides, but she knows some basic commands. Most importantly, Mandy thrives on being close to her people, giving out kisses and cuddles-once she decides you’ve earned it! If you think you might be the right match for Mandy, reach out to us at BHS by phone, email or stopping by! She`s waiting to meet her forever companion!

Story
Meet Norma, an active and spirited gal looking for her forever home! This is her second time at BHS due to no fault of her own, and she’s ready to find a partner who can keep up with her energetic lifestyle.Norma has a playful demeanor and can be a bit dog-selective, so we always conduct a dog-to-dog introduction at the shelter to ensure everyone gets along. While we don’t have a history of how she does with cats, she might be prone to chasing, so we recommend dog-savvy felines with a safe space to call their own during slow introductions. While we haven’t observed her with kids, we think Norma’s bubbly and bouncy nature is best suited for dog-savvy children aged 10 and older. She’s a strong girl who needs ample time to unwind and adjust to her new home, as well as daily exercise and playtime—activities she absolutely loves!Norma is known to enjoy a little wanderlust, so keeping her in an enclosed space or on a leash until she’s had more training is a smart move. She would make a fantastic hiking, running, or walking partner for someone patient and dedicated to helping her thrive. If you think you can provide the active and loving home that Norma deserves, reach out to us at BHS! She’s ready to embark on her next adventure with a companion who matches her zest for life. Let’s help Norma find her perfect match!

Story
Hey there, meet Floki! This large boy comes with a huge personality and always has something to say! Floki has been at BHS for a year, and our dedicated staff has been working with him to find him a forever home!Floki never turns down a good snack and absolutely loves racing around in our outdoor pen. With his boundless energy, he’s looking for someone who can keep up with his playful spirit! While Floki has a bit of a ladies’ man, his ideal person will need to be dedicated and experienced with K-9s, ready to work for his trust and loyalty. He can be a bit nervous around strangers, so be prepared for some extra visits to help him unwind and feel comfortable. Floki prefers an adult-only home and would love to be the sole pup in your life. He’ll need plenty of time and patience to adjust to his new environment before diving into too many new experiences. If you have the space in your home and heart for this giant goofball, don’t hesitate to inquire further. Floki is ready to fill your life with love and laughter—are you ready for him?

Story
Meet Baron, your future loyal companion! As an older dog, Baron brings the calm assurance of a friend who knows exactly who he is—dependable, loving, and always there when you need him. This is Baron`s second stay at BHS, and he’s more than ready to settle down in his forever home. He`s looking for a place where he can be the one and only. He is a bit of a lone wolf as other animals aren`t his thing, but he has plenty of love to give!Baron is a seasoned explorer and would thrive with an experienced dog owner who he can bond with. While he enjoys the occasional playful burst of energy (usually when it comes to stuffy toys or a quick walk), he knows when it`s time to relax. He’s also great with kids, but just watch out for those smaller toy balls—he’s been known to mistake them for a snack (one had to be surgically removed!).Now in his golden years, Baron is ready to retire in a cozy home that appreciates his mellow side. He does take a couple of daily supplements to help with his joints, keeping the vets away and him feeling good!If you`re ready to open your heart and home to this gentle giant, don’t hesitate to reach out. Baron is waiting for his forever family!
