Story
Joey possesses characteristics that would make him a wonderful companion. He is devoted, attentive, and vigilant, demonstrating a natural inclination to safeguard his surroundings and those he cares for. While he does not get along with other dogs or cats, he appears to interact well with older children and teenagers who respect his boundaries. If you are considering Joey as a potential pet, we invite you to visit the shelter and spend some time getting to know him. Joey does know how to sit and walks good on the leash. He has a lot of energy to play, and he can jump pretty high which could make him a fun dog to play frisbee with. That is of course he brings it back. Overall, Joey would be a great companion for anyone that can devote the time and love he deserves.

Camo, a Stafford Terrier, was surrendered by his family along with his mother and was kept chained up near a barn. Unfortunately, we are unsure how well this handsome boy was treated. He seems to be okay with older aged kids, but his behavior with younger kids is uncertain. Camo requires a forever home where he can receive the love, care, and training he needs, preferably with a family experienced with his breed or dog training knowledge. Camo does not get along with other dogs, cats, or small animals. If you're interested in Camo, please feel free to contact us with questions regarding him or come visit us during shelters open hours.

Valley Falls, KS

Story
Draco is a large dog who prefers to eat without any interruptions and can get grumpy if someone is nearby. He needs a loving family who can give him the attention he craves and has a large fenced yard for him to run and play in. Due to his size, small children should keep a safe distance from Draco and be supervised by parents. He seems to be okay with other dogs as long as they are not dominant. While Draco has been around cats, we cannot guarantee how he will react to them. If you would like to visit Draco please feel free to come to the shelter during open hours.

Male, Senior
Lawrence, KS
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Prince is looking for a retirement home. At 16 years old, a toddler is not what he envisioned for his golden years. He has been very stressed since our son was born. He would do great with an elderly person, sitting on their lap all day! 100% Chihuahua, born November 2008 Likes: sleeping in your bed, sitting on your lap, treats, walks Dislikes: being alone, rain/snow/cold, baths, young kids, car rides, electric bug zappers, high-energy dogs Questionable with male dogs but does well with our girl dog (they have no quarrels over their food bowl which they have open access to, but can get into it over a treat or table scraps) Health: -mild heart murmur, stable on meds - Pimobendan and Spironolactone (cheap) -torn ACL on back left leg in 2021 which we had surgically repaired (he favors the leg slightly at times, but gets around fine) -going a bit deaf -house trained, but will mark in the house ( it's a behavior, no diabetes, but this doesn't seem to happen when he sleeps in your bed!)
