Story
Dog selective. Belle is in need of a new foster home as a member of the house has become very ill. Belle does not chew on shoes though she does like to carry them around when she gets excited. Belle was born in our care on April 1st 2017 to Momma Orla. She and her siblings were named after Beauty and the Beast characters. She and her "sister" didn't get along so the family felt she would be better with a new family. She did great with her two Chihuahua siblings, and may do well with a male dog. She loves to give kisses and plays hard on toys. One of her favorite past times is to bird watch. Cats and kids are unknown at this time. She is currently in boarding and we need her out!Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption donation is $300.00 for dogs over 1 year old and $350 with a $50.00 spay / neuter deposit for puppies/dogs under 1 year old. Story
Hi, my name is Gigi! I’m an Akita mix about 3 years old. I’m a very sweet girl and love to run, play, and stretch out in the sun. I really enjoy exploring my world through all its fantastic smells. Chasing small animals is always fun, so a fenced-in yard is a must to make sure I don’t get carried away. Slow introductions are best for me, as I can be a little timid with strangers, but once I’ve warmed up to you, I can be your best pal, whether playing outside or hanging around on the couch. If you give me belly rubs, I’ll be your friend forever! My foster brother and I have a great time playing with each other, and I get along with other dogs once I get to know them. I’m looking for a loving, patient family that can help me grow and build my confidence by gently introducing me to new environments and experiences. Can you be my forever home? *** We have no idea why she’s been waiting so long. She is obviously gorgeous and sweet! She is a careful girl but loves her people fiercely! She is more nervous around new men, but warms up fine as she looooooves her foster dad so much. She is an active girl and loves to run and play with other dogs. In fact, she tends to do best with other dogs around because they help her feel more confident and secure. This pretty girl needs nothing but a little patience and love. If interested in meeting Gigi, fill out an application today! https://www.jotform.us/form/43196636952162Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. Story
Who is looking for a Gentle Giant in a compact body? At 55lbs, Bruce is the perfect "small" sized large dog. Bruce was a stray that turned up at someone's house and a neighbor took him in trying to find his family. Sadly no one has stepped forward for this boy. He is a very sweet boy who is very cautious of noises, barks, cars etc. He is learning to sit on command and is working on his leash manners. He hasn't shown any aggression and is generally a slow easy-going guy. He enjoys laying down with his foster family and being petted. He likes to run down the deck stairs into the backyard, around to the other side, and back up. When he runs around in the yard, he lopes around playfully, which he didn't do 2 weeks ago! He is starting to open up for us. We are still learning about Bruce as he begins to come out of his shell, but his foster dad says, "I can see signs of a great dog!" Bruce is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Application can be found here: https://www.jotform.us/form/43196636952162Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. Story
Husky experience & 6' fence required. No cats/small animals. Kids 12+. Luna is a 7yo husky. She came from IL where she kept escaping from an unsecured yard. She will test gates and fencing but does not go over. She does like making some independent landscaping decisions, but isn't very yard destructive and likely isn't going to quickly tunnel out as some huskies do. Luna does have epilepsy (a controllable disease that causes seizures) but doesn't have ANY seizures as long as she takes her pill twice a day. Her last refill at CVS cost $27 for a 2 month supply. Luna LOVES to run and play and regularly gets the husky zoomies. Her other most favorite thing in the world is being brushed. Luna is an absolute lover and loves getting loved on. Being brushed hits all of that for her. And is a major plus for you! Luna would do best with another chill male dog or on her own. She gets along great with her foster brother but has some resource guarding issues with her foster sister. As long as there aren't any toys down and her foster mom isn't sitting on the couch, Luna and her foster sister do OK together for a few hours at a time. Crate trained, knows basic commands, doing well on learning leash and car manners but it's a work in progress Luna is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Story
Super gentle sweetheart just looking for her forever lap to lay on. She loves to cuddle whenever possible. She enjoys sitting on the back porch sun bathing. Enjoys chewing on toys that she also takes to bed with her. Very treat motivated, no issues with food at all. Despite her past, she loves anyone and anything she meets. Just looking for the next pet she can obtain. She will show her appreciation and affection with little love nibbles and affection bows. Will get small bursts of energy and get zoomies. Rarely barks unless you are playing with her in that manner. At times you'll forget she's even there due to her lack of vocalization. 110% total couch potato! Prada is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. She is at the antibiotic taking stage. Her first shot is scheduled for October with shots two and three scheduled in November. Her adoptive family will be required to take her to her appointments in Westville and for a heartworm test in a few months after her last shot. Treatment covered by Guardians. Prada is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Dill is a 7 week old male Husky mix. He is as sweet as he looks, with icy eyes and a warm heart. He loves to romp and play with his siblings and gives gentle kisses to the toddlers at his foster home. He enjoys cuddling and being held as well. Being a puppy, he would do well in most homes but keep in mind his personality is all husky! Dill is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN.
